Homemade gyros

I did the meat in the crockpot. Pretty disappointing to be honest it just tasted like stewed meat and the spices didn't come through.

I bought off the shelf tatziki sauce. Homemade is definitely better but I don't have time for that shit.

I'm working on my plating. Food tastes better if it's separated into groups.

Looks gr8

Tzatziki takes like 5 minutes to DIY and what spices did u use, what cut of meat and how did u cook it?

Maybe toss it in some oil and more seasoning and chuck it in the oven at 450 real quick??

I put a beef chuck into a crockpot with onions and a bunch of spices and cooked it for 8 hours. I'd shop around for slow cooker gyro recipes online because the recipe I used was mediocre.

There's a serious eats recipe where kenji tries to make al-pastor at home, which also would typically involve an impractical spinning meat cone that you aren't going to replicate in your kitchen.

He ends up packing a bunch of thin slices of pork into a bread pan and making a weird meatloaf. I've never tried this, it looks like a lot of effort, but I feel like maybe this could be something to try for your gyro game. Your picture looks great, btw, I'd eat it.

The meat is just a beef chuck in a crock pot with onions. The recipe calls for salt, pepper, lemon juice, oregano, and fresh dill. I also added marjoram (from a previous Greek dish), garlic powder, and cumin.

Everything else I just purchased from the store.

Double your oregano and majoram if you're going the crock pot method.

Also I'd slice the cucumbers into quarters.

Queso fresco, zucchini, tomatoes, and cubed steak with Greek seasoning on a naan with ranch on top :marseychefkiss:

For the meat I just use strips & onions and stir fry it in a pan with the herbs (savory, pepper, paprika, oregano, rosmarine, majoran and a tiny bit of nutmeg).

The greek salad is cucumber, tomato, feta (optionally olives & pickled pepperoni pepper) with olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, pepper mixed together.

After all that fill the pita (I usually buy pitas for that) with the 3 things and enjoy.

Neighbor, homemade Tzatziki takes like 5 minutes to make, it’s literally put greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil and parsley in a bowl and mix. Looks good, but part of what gives a Gyro it’s taste is the crisp on the meat from being on the Gyro broiler, would definitely opt for using the stove for your meat next time
