I made these last night and they were really good, highly recommended. I also added some andouille sausage. It made a shitload of beans, I'm gonna get like seven meals out of it.

RUSTIC AU GRATIN (SERVES 5+):

Ingredients: 4-7 white sweet potatoes (yams are fine, don't sweat the small stuff!); 1 or 2 large containers or heavy whipping cream; 1-1.5 blocks of Swiss cheese.

PROCEDURE:

Peel, wash, then chop sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Shred cheese. Keep ceramic or aluminum pan ready to receive the layers of potatoes and cheese. Boil one layer of potatoes in the cream until VERY SLIGHTLY tender. This is a double bake process.

Layer one is potatoes, then shredded cheese, then potatoes. Repeat until dish filled.

Preheat to 400°, douse with a "small" drizzle of leftover cooking cream along the sides of the pan, cover pan with aluminum, bake for 25 to 35 mins. Uncover only when cheese is definitely melted on top.

I usually drink gin or vodka alone so I don't know what wine to serve at a group event. I don't want to ask my older relatives to bring anything, they'll insist water is fine (what we had last year) and my brother will bring coke zero if I ask. Please include some non-reds, my mom sez red gives her headaches.

Topping lovers don't know what good pizza is because they mask the real flavor of the pizza with all the stuff they put on it.

I've been like this since before Dave Portnoy started reviewing pizza. I've eaten pizza at some of the best places in the US. I've made trips around good pizza. I love pizza.

Occasionally, I'll do a light pepperoni, but everything else can take a hike.

It smells worth the no-sleep

I can personally vouch for the caramel coconut (better than girl scout imo), lemon shortbread, and fudge covered peanut butter filled (both just as good as girl scout). They are all $2-3 a pack.
