If you don't watch anime it may be not for you, hard to say. The cast is quite eccentric, and at times cringe.
That being said, they get good characterization (at least the core characters) and play off each other very well.
First half of the show has great mystery aspect to it, second part has some great dramatic moments. It looks good, there is no crazy animation, but it uses static shots to very effectively build atmosphere, it's really good at the "less is more" approach.
I would recommend, as long as you can stand the characters.
