At a school I went to, most of the teachers were on 1-2 year contracts and had a day where most of them found out if it was renewed. It was really easy to find out if one of your teachers didn’t get renewed because you’d do frick all in class. I had one go on a rant about the ‘system’ and then walk out of class 40 min before it ended. We ended up having subs for the rest of year or a free period when the admin couldn’t find anyone to cover.

Incompetent people working gubmint jobs is a huge problem here in Frogland because of this. Being bad at your job doesn't even cut it to get you fired, you actually have to frick up somehow. You can be the laziest, most useless piece of shit on the planet, so long as there's someone to pick up the slack, it's all good. Things will get done - eventually.

Now this wouldn't be a problem if public institutions were loaded and could hire at will depending on the workload, but they're all on a tight budget. That means frickers who can't do shit not only don't do their job, they make your work harder. Obviously this greatly impacts the already pretty long delays necessary when you need something from some administration or other.

Only dangerous hard labor jobs should have unions, not pigs, not Starbucks baristas, and not teenage daycare workers.

Honestly, public employee unions are 100% cursed. If cops and teachers didn't have unions most of the problems people have with them would disappear. The government isn't the same as the private sector in that they provide mostly monopoly services, so entrenched unions shouldn't get to hold the taxpayer hostage when there's no alternative
