I went on a walk and saw a child drowning in the river. I was going to jump in and save him, when someone reminded me that I should care about family members more than strangers. So I continued on my way and let him drown.

BONUS: Marc Andreessen QTs with a heatmap meme, Scott points out that facts don't care about your feelings (i.e. rightoids can't read)
Hi Marc. I know the heatmap meme, but I think the study it comes from ( https://t.co/rqK2vSX7EU ) is saying something really interestingly different from the meme version.

The study finds (see Figure 1) that liberals care about their friends more than conservatives do*.β¦

Parents have expressed their concern at a Queensland high school teacher who has reportedly been referring to themselves as a cat, allegedly hissing at students and licking the back of their hands during class. The teacher, who works at Marsden State High School in Logan City, south of Brisbane, has reportedly asked students to call her "Miss Purr", multiple parents have claimed on social media.

just accepted the job offer of my dreams. It was great, paid $38/hr full benefits! The work is a combination of physical and technical, and the cherry on the top was it was good MORAL work. I would have been working with private landowners to plant trees on their property, giving them timber harvesting power in the future plus fortifying the American timber trade instead of outsourcing for wood. Not to mention improving the local environment.
The thing is I'd be working with a non-profit and my position is funded by federal grants.
My job acceptance almost feel through with one executive order but I got lucky until Elon fricking MUSK commandeered the treasury payment system so there are effectively no resources to hire me. He took my job.
It's fricking heartbreaking. In 2 years I could have paid off my student loans and had a down payment for a house if I had saved like mad. Now I'm stuck making $20,000 a year living paycheck to paycheck. And I don't think anybody understands what an opportunity like this is for some poor kid who grew up in a rotten trailer in Appalachia to have had. Frick.

I'm gen Z and maybe it's better not to mess with what worked in the past, though it stopped working at some point on reddit.

Amazing thread attempting to create a narrative with 40k upmarseys and just 900 comments, so you know it's legit.
Comments are mostly as expected: Yeah, but Amazon is cheaper, ships faster, and has ez returns.
Note: Amazon doesn't make much on it's retail ops anymore, so they probably dgaf if people shop there or not.
Notable zero-pointers
2 weeks later no package arrives, no answer from support, regret not using reliable Beszos
Amazon is Amazon for a reason
Β
Yeah but usually there products are marked up 25% compared to the Amazon listing so bezos gets my moneyπ€·.
Β
Nah I usually want the shit I ordered faster than 1-3 business months
Β
The Pivot attempt and rebuttal
The main difference is Amazon offers free shipping and free hassle free returns. Other retailers charge you to return products you order from them and usually charge you shipping to get them
fyi hassle free returns = products go directly in the garbage (cheaper than sorting through the products) and Amazon bakes the cost into higher prices for everyone due to the high volume of returned items
FYI the exact same thing happens when you return it to the manufacturer.
The only difference is that it's substantially easier to return a product to Amazon vs most manufacturers.

!codecels The only thing i learned in ethics class is that I reject the ethics of my peers and countrymen
So I've been in the industry for 7 years now but had a degree in social sciences and later attended a bootcamp before getting my first job.
In light of current events, I'm just puzzled that there are engineers that are so willing to deploy their skills to achieve nefarious ends. We have the ability to impact the world in major ways with our knowledge and expertise, I would assume that CS programs would understand this and require course work on the moral implications of technology. Even in cases where what we are doing is technically legal. We are not mere cowtools for the business of others, this should be kept in mind.
Yea and that's why instead of testing your fancy new AI on fed databases to find freeloaders and wastes of money you're bitching on reddit
