Over the last few days, we've seen an increase in content in several communities that violate Reddit Rules. Reddit communities are places for civil discussion and are one of the few places online where people can exchange ideas and perspectives. We want to ensure that they continue to be a place for healthy debate no matter the topic. Debate and dissent are welcome on Redditβthreats and doxing are not.
When we identify communities experiencing an increase in rule-violating content, we are taking the following steps as needed:
Reaching out to moderators to ensure they have the support they need, including turning on safety cowtools, reminding mods of our rules, or offering additional moderation support
Adding a popup to remind users before visiting that subreddit of Reddit's Rules
In some cases, placing a temporary ban on the community for 72 hours to enable us to engage with moderation teams and review and remove violating content
Currently /r/WhitePeopleTwitter is under a temporary ban. This means that you will not be able to access this community during this cooling-off period while we work with the mods to ensure it is a safe place for discussion.
We will continue to monitor and reach out to communities experiencing a surge in violative content and will take the necessary actions noted above to ensure all communities can provide a safe environment for healthy conversation.

Context: The guy from h3h3 recently posted his first video in three years attacking his former friend and cohost socialist streamer Hasan Piker. Did I watch it or care? Frick no. I don't really know what the video says but I came across this post where some other streamer points out how the video uses a doctored image from the Destiny subreddit to make a (false) point.
Anyways, the pinned comment I linked is this:
The clip in the post makes no mention of the word cracker, so on top of being aggravating janny "I'm serious" speak it is totally random. The replies to this comment point this out:
Calling someone a cracker isn't racist, but cracker is a racist slur. Or vice versa? It doesn't make sense.
Some people point out how the jannies of this subreddit b-word about flame wars but then pin shit like this which seems to exist purely to cause flame wars.
The janny double-downs and gets showered with downkongs in response.
It's not okay to call someone Ritz instead of cracker because that is racist dog-whistling and just as offensive as saying cracker.
Someone mentions how they're leaving the subreddit and the janny responds cattily. Users point out how the janny felt the need to pin their thoughts on the word cracker when it wasn't asked.
Most of the replies look like this.
The janny says they are a social scientist working in race relations.
"I'm literally getting my PhD in this field. If you want proof, read literally the top most suggested and read book on racial relations printed in the 21st century."
Not white? Could have fooled me...
TL;DR: shut up, cracker

I had a small role in recruiting this man. He'd spent the last ten years leading engineering teams on a consumer product you've probably used, and he's just arrived in DC to work with the federal government. He started on Monday, and it's now Thursday night. I run into him at an event. He arrives late, and looks shellshocked.
How's it going? He's struggling to put words together. I'm worried. "I just left the office. I think everything's going to be okay." What is he talking about? "For the first day and a half, nothing. Then it was 'go to this agency and help them with this thing. It needs to go live on Thursday and there's a problem.' Yes, there was a problem. The data the service relied onβ¦.I've never seen a database like that. Ever." What do you mean? "1993. The guy couldn't find any other way to make it work. The vendors would have taken too long even if someone could justify the budget. So he just hacked it at nights and over weekends. Used whatever he could find and taught himself how to use it. The machine is ancient. The software has just been running since then. I'm amazed he managed to keep it running this long. It's a miracle. Either no one knew, or no one cared β my guess is that they were just happy to have something that worked at all. The guy's been keeping this going like thisβ¦I meanβ¦I had no ideaβ¦I've never seenβ¦." He's shaking his head and looking past me.
What happened? "First we just had to make sure we could get the data out somehow, make sure we had a copy. I mean, these recordsβ¦they're the only copy. The whole system relies on this. People rely on this. To help real people. People who need help. If it had failedβ¦" He really is in shock.
"I'd just never seen anything like this. I was afraid if I even touched it, it would all go poof. We got it out. It's okayβ¦. It's okay nowβ¦But this guyβ¦He's been keeping this together for 23 yearsβ¦"
For a minute, I worry that he's angry. And that he might be angry at me for encouraging him to take this job. But I look in his eyes and it's not anger, it's awe. Respect. Admiration and gratitude for a public servant who has achieved the impossible. Made things work in spite of the rules, not because of them. "He made it work. He's the only guy who can run it. He knows it wouldn't work without him so he's deferred his retirement. I meanβ¦he's extraordinary."
Extraordinary. A Silicon Valley technologist, the kind of person we champion as a savior of government, thinks that a career civil servant beyond retirement age with sorely outdated technical skills is extraordinary.
That career civil servant's name is Jed. The system he started building in the 1980s and maintained for decades before my friend came along was called VACOLS, the Veterans Appeals Control and Locator System. It started out serving just 400 users, and expanded to 17,000 across multiple parts of the VA system. Logic Magazine later interviewed him, and the backstory is well worth a read.

i'm at my big firm corporate girlboss job and one of my coworkers said something about grad school - i missed a deadline last month, guess that's a sore spot for me - and i just started crying. tried to hold it in but all i managed were tears silently sliding down my face. had to slip out after a minute when it didn't stop.
literally been slinking around the office and hiding in the bathroom for an hour trying to stop crying. once, i thought i was in the clear, but when i put my hand on the doorknob to the meeting room it started up again.
i'm so annoyed because i'm a totally competent person otherwise. i'm not even really ""emotional"", like i stay pretty girlboss professional eloquent deadpan all the time - which makes it even worse when i turn into a blubbery red-eyed swollen-faced mess.
all my life i've been someone who cries at the drop of a hat - in elementary school, during ballet class, at parties, etc etc. one of my exes would get so mad at me when i cried and accuse me of doing it to derail whatever stupid fight we were having and make him feel bad. i kept swearing i wasn't doing it on purpose and i tried my best not to cry but he never believed me. i do try!! i hate crying. it's embarrassing and it's a waste of my time. i'm missing an important meeting right now :( i have to go collect my laptop that's been sitting there abandoned. what do i even say? nothing? say my tummy was upset?
Good lord this woman is a MESS. Someone casually mentioned grad school and it caused her to cry for the rest of the fricking day.

I'm going to a party in Florida where I'll be wearing brown shoes and a belt - which would mean brown watch. However, I think the black watch is cooler and would rather wear that. Would you be opposed to putting the brown strap on the black watch or would that be tacky?
