OREBRO, Sweden, Feb 5 (Reuters) - The worst mass shooting in Swedish history was carried out by a 35-year-old Swedish man who lived locally, had been unemployed for a decade and had changed his first and last name, a police source and tax data show.
Swedish media named the suspect as Rickard Andersson. The police source also named Andersson as the alleged gunman.
Aftonbladet reported that, according to documents viewed by the paper, the man had previously been enrolled at the school for several mathematics classes, without finishing them. The most recent class he was enrolled for was in 2021.
Police said the suspect, who died at the scene, was not known to them prior to the event and had never been convicted of any crime. They also said he had no gang connection and was believed to have acted alone.
Aftonbladet, which spoke to relatives of the man believed to be the shooter, described him as a recluse who had limited contact with his family for years.
The paper said the man did not have a high school certificate.
Swedish public broadcaster SVT, which did not cite its sources, said the attacker, like many in Sweden, had a hunting licence and used a hunting weapon.
Tax data showed that the attacker last declared work-related income in 2014 and that he lived in a one-bedroom apartment in a low-rise building less than a kilometre (around half a mile) from the city centre.
Master race at it again!

When people ask if you are pregnant and you aren't...
I was shopping at Victoria's Secret, and I asked the saleswoman for help. She leaned in an asked if I was pregnant. When I said no, she said, "Are you sure?" When I angrily said NO again, she said, "You look like you are about 4 months along."
It makes me sad when I see pregnant posts on social media and women are bragging about their baby bumps. I have Crohn's Disease, and I've had a bit of a belly for most of my life, while the rest of my body is skinny. Their baby bumps look like my everyday life. Perhaps it's a combination of knowing I never want to be pregnant but having so many people in my life tell me I should have kids + feeling hurt that many people have ASKED me if I am pregnant because of my bloating.
As a woman, I just want to be valued for more than how my body looks or what creatures my body can produce. :p
*EDIT: The VS incident happened a little while ago, so I won't be able to complain to the manager or report her, but I have just been feeling a lack of confidence in my body lately and been seeing so many pregnant posts, I am currently feeling triggered. Since the incident at VS, several other people have asked the same rude question, but that one was by far the worst because she would not let it go. So.... thanks redditors for the support. :)

Trump signs executive order banning transgender athletes from women's sports, directing DOJ to enforce - ABC News https://search.app/1BvxLikktjd7TJhr8
but to "protect women's sports," adding that options like co-ed categories would still be available.
If universities don't comply, the White House warned they could not only lose federal funding but also face legal action.
"If schools don't comply, it's not just that they're at risk of DOJ-based actions," Mailman said. "Title IX has a private right of action component behind it, so if schools are violating the law, they're at risk of lawsuits from their female students, that is going to actually be more than just taking away federal funding. These are multi-million dollar lawsuits."
The executive order also directs the secretary of state to push for changes within the International Olympic Committee to maintain single-s*x competition and the Department of Homeland Security to review visa policies to prevent transgender women from identifying as female, which would allow them to compete in women's sports, according to the document detailing the order.
The order will also direct private sporting bodies to attend an in-person White House meeting to hear accounts from female athletes in person, according to the document.
"The Executive Order calls for the convening of private sporting bodies in the White House to hear, in person, the stories of female athletes who suffer life-long injuries, who have been silenced and forced to shower with men, and whose hard work has been cast aside due to the biological advantage of males," the document states.
The order is the most aggressive move yet by Trump to fulfill one of his central campaign promises regarding transgender athletes in women's sports.
Trump signed an executive order last week seeking to restrict gender-affirming care for people under the age of 19.
The order would move to restrict medical institutions that receive federal funding from providing such care -- including puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgeries -- calling on the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to "take all appropriate actions to end the chemical and surgical mutilation of children."
