I thought the author was going to give a more global context of what blonde means to societies all over the world but instead she said blondes are wonderful, blondes are the most beautiful and innocent and sexiest of all women, and everyone wants to be like us. Hello!! That is the problem. Women of different ethnicities pretty much give up their culture to live the blonde White-American dream, and there is only one reason- to feel more accepted in our society because the closer you are to white the more society will accept you, and one way to do this is to dye your hair blonde. Instead of telling us what we already know, or better yet what society reinforces to us, that blonde is the ultimate beauty, why not tell us how this fascination has hurt society and women especially from different races. I am guessing it was too easy for her to spew off the gloriousness of blondeness- she being a blonde herself, than to search for something deeper because we all know sometimes the truth is hard to take, especially when you are on the inside looking out.
I feel like this book is saying if you aren't a blonde you agent good enough & your results will not be as good if you are not a blonde. Who allowed this author to write? I do not bleach or color my hair nor am I ashamed. I love myself let's all say it together. Other then that I enjoyed the history. A few famous brunettes: Sophia Loren , Angelina Jolie , Cleopatra , Elizabeth Taylor, Salyma Hayek, Sophia Vegara. Mmm what was that thing you were saying about brunettes? Oh yeah Diana would not have gotten an award for all the charity work if she had been a brunette. Okay I hate the writer. Anyway I think if you make up your mind to succeed in life you will. Unless everyone is like this author forget it .

people need to stop harshing on blondes. i've had my hair every imaginable color, red for years, and resisted being a natural blonde because i hated the stereotypes. so now if people dont like my hair color the way it is, thats too bad. you could just as well write an intelligent book about the history of redheads, there is alot of stereotype and mystique surrounding red hair as well. i found that i attracted the most fascinating people when i was a redhead! i also personally think that dark haired women are the most beautiful women in the world, probably because im a blonde and i cant pull off a dark hair color, i've tried... i just wish people wouldnt take this book personally! if i were to write a book about hair it would involve all colors. certainly there is alot of cultural and historical info about it. mary magdalene is actually more often described as a redhead, queen elizabeth was red, not blonde! and red hair has always been associated with sorceresses...also how about snow white? i could go on, but ive made my point, i think. girls who are not blond may be hurt by this kind of book, but its also hurtful and depressing to be a blonde and have people stereotype you, cat call you, and hate you because of your hair.
Lots of inaccuracies in this book. Phryne was not blonde. She was known for her dark skin color! Phryne was depicted with black hair in Greek antiquity.
Recent western artists have changed that. Aphrodite was not blonde. This is the modern Western image. Aphrodite was always depicted with black hair in Greek antiquity. I am familiar with Greek literature and it was never mentioned that Aphrodite was blonde. There is no evidence that Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene were blond. I find it very irreverent that she just made this up. I cannot recommend this book because it is based on fantasy and not on facts.

This was a fun (and yes, intelligent) read on the history of blonde hair. It sounds like a boring read, but I had a good time reading all about where the stigma of "dumb blonde" came from. Perhaps I needed a break from "blonde" jokes, and just wanted a bit of honest history on the subject, if just for my own reassurance, (I am a natural blonde :) )

A well-read colleague recommended this book to me as the funniest book he has ever read but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much. It's humour mainly comes from absurd yet realistic situations and larger-than-life characters but, unfortunately, after years of exposure to the dregs of the internet the scenarios in this book seem pretty tame and no longer surprise me. It is set in 1960s New Orleans but the main character would definetly be a terminally online reddit poster if he was alive today. In fact, I was constantly seeing parallels with the book and stuff that is now common in society/online and it made me cringe rather than laugh.
For example:
Man religiously goes to smutty movies in order to complain about them, he yells at the screen
Gays are more interested in having a degenerate orgy than talking politics
Man has a masters degree but can't hold down entry level jobs (because he is too smart )
Man rationalizes wearing comfy outfit in innapropriate settings as being for safety reasons
Smelly hippie girl puts minorities on a pedestal and turns on them when they don't support her progressive politics
Man's nebulous health condition flares up suddenly to get him out of uncomfortable situations (r/longcovid)
Man is so absurdly gluttonous he eats 6 hotdogs (modern fatties wouldn't even see him as fat)
Man becomes obsessed with porn lady because he thinks she has similar interests to him (https://twitch.tv)
Woman hates her husband and manipulates her kids into hating him too (but stays with him for the money)

As you can see, these situations would seem absurd to a normie but are pretty tame compared to stuff that pops up on rdrama frequently. So if you ever meet someone who loves A Confederacy of Dunces you must treasure them and do your best to protect them from the degeneracy of the internet.

What's weird here is that a lot of her own work is surreal, has many layers of reality and people who question their own sanity, she uses satire in dark ways, she has been an English professor for decades so presumably knows how to analyze others' art and does so well with Lynch's other work. I'm just not sure what her payoff is in repeating the “brain damaged” line (which seems inaccurate and mean-spirited to me), and it is painfully obvious that she doesn't understand either melodrama or satires of melodrama.

I think there are two kinds of audience (broadly speaking, obviously); the kind that see something that triggers their imagination and sends them into a kind of imaginative engagement with what they are seeing; and the kind that expect what they see to do the imagining for them. Both are valid modes of reception, but the first has the advantage of including the latter in what it can appreciate whereas the second constantly needs to be convinced to remain engaged, and therefore cannot appreciate anything that requires them to imaginatively buy into what they are seeing.

I started reading “Los Premios” by Julio Cortázar set in the 1950s it's about a bunch of porteños who won tickets to a cruiser ship to somewhere (they have no idea where). First chapter the passengers all meet each other at the London City cafeteria in Buenos Aires (that places still exists, it's located between Av de Mayo and Av Perú, they have a wonderful tea and deserts but are kind of expensive) then they're escorted by the police to the ship at the port, a ship called Malcolm, none of the passengers knows where they're going, the officers refuse to tell them at the first day and I'm getting some White Lotus vibes from the passengers and their companions. I'm also reading “ Tratamento de Água – Concepção, Projeto e Operação de Estações de Tratamento” a textbook on water treatment because of work related stuff.

Has anybody every read The Books in Fred Hamptons Apartment, or even heard of it. I don't really know what its about but I have been researching the civil rights era and I need books about Fred Hampton. I have done cursory searches of the book and I'm having trouble finding any good information on it. Most of the big sites like Goodreads and Amazon don't have descriptions and the only copies I could find are really expensive. I found one NYT archived article about it but its just poo-pooing on the author for using black people or something and it doesn't really talk about the book, or it does and I cant decipher the writers r-slurred academia speak. I even briefly searched for it on a couple of pirate sites and couldn't find it. The article I did find made it seem like the title of the book has little to do with the subject but like I said, if that was the article's meaning it was buried under nerd speak.

This weekend, I went to the farm, which was a needed reprieve for my mental wellbeing, as I had endured much suffering past 2 months, and got to see sister and old university friend for the 1st time in a long while.
But it also meant i was basically foaming foaming at the mouth in a batshit insane uncontrollable need to Longpost about stuff, because i had read a garbage post by the wimpy f@ggots of /r/wotshow, and them making the worst takes about Wheel of Time in the history of all of literature, just before setting off into the wilderness.
My sister kept asking me if I was alright, and if I needed to be taken to the hospital, because I kept twitching like a cocaine-addict and my Dramatard-Tourettes kept making me spout inane phrases like: "dude bussy", "wokes", and "mayocide". Luckily most of it was incomprehensible for those who have regular s*x and are not terminally online.
I cant find the post which specifically set me off, but it was one of the hundreds of soycuck and cucksoy posts about how the New-York subway levels of diversity, and the perfect human gradient of heterogeneous humanity in the WOTshow is moronically illogical even for fantasy settings.
(also google fricking sux dokney ballz - i swear to God 10 years ago you could type the antonym before any word, and you'd have the top list showing 3 different literature or grammar websites, now you need to pull the answer from Google's fricking r-slur claws.)

We're seen this fight over and over again in the past decade, ever since Ghostbusters 2016 had the female gender-bender cast, and how that stupid movie was the eye of the vortex for one of the earliest culture-war battlegrounds Back then we called wokes and soycucks as Social-Justice-Warriors, and male-feminists as white-nights, ahh the goold old days
We've seen increasing amounts of racebending especially in the past 5 years. Yet I find it curious and worthy of comment because racebending is nothing new, and hasn't been controversial even amongst my conservative peers until recently. Way back in 2008 when a non-white actor or actress played even a fantasy canonically white character, it was usually a great rarity, and I dont recall, for example that any of people, including my conservative boomer parents or family members ever made even a single complaint when that happened. After all it was just fiction and entertainment, lots of people would racebend in theatres if they were shorthanded.

To further go with an example specifically in the year 2008, there was a show called Merlin, which followed the young mythical wizard before he was the older wise mega powerful sorcerror in the Arthurian Legends - it was a quaint comedy drama adventure, and i recall it being relatively average, decent but not special and if you guys never heard of it, then probably it was because it was no skyscraper flagship show.
My mother and sister was obsessed with this show and would watch it religiously during its reruns, when i was finishing high-school and beginning University. So i never had the chance to watch the show in its completion, and probably only ever saw like half of the total episodes ever aired, which was very easy to do and still be entertained, as the show had a very Monster/crisis-of-the-week format, where every episode was self-contained, but had an incremental major series-long-plot advance during each separate episode. (back before the Wokeflix binge era) That's right strags we used to have to wait a full fricking week before each episode!
And in this specific series, the canonical Guinevere, was played by a very obvious non-white coloured girl, though she'd probably be known as mixed race in Bongland.
But stunningly I recall in this pre-2016 Ghostbusters era is that rightoids and conservatards never bitched or complained about racebending even in its rarity. It was definitely remarked upon, but my sister and mother would always champion their heroine - the "pretty coloured girl" from Merlin. No negative connotation.

Like back in 2015? When Star Wars Last Jedi and other flagship media began airing and criticized and getting pushback from older fans - there had already developed an almost predictable-as-the-tides format in which would respond whenever neurodivergent turbo fans would be less than ecstatic about the latest Soyslop gruel poured into their trough, about how old-guard fans were bigots or whatever, to deflect criticism.
People began complaining that famous previously heroic male hero characters were being displayed as weak wimps, with old outdated world views, and whom needed to be shown up by girl-bosses, and a new generation of BIPOCS, and that the Huwhite man in fiction needed to make way for the new generation ,and new diverse group of previously disadvantaged peeps whom never had a chance to shine on the bigscreen. And to extent you could emphasize with them, with Hollywood being made up of Burgers, and 80% of burgers being mayos, it didn't even need malicious intent for a free-market system to prioritize the most lucrative demographic (the numerical-majority) at the expense of all other non-whites.
But then post-2019, things began to take a turn, as the once 2015 rightoid schizo rambling about how Hollyweird was run by Turbo liberal Jews who wanted to enact the GREAT REPLACEMENT , to replace all whites with non-whites on earth, and that the 1st step of this grandmaster plan was to utilize media to brainwash braindead whitoids into accepting the commonality of one-way diversity, aka only reducing the amount of whites in media, where this idea gained serious traction.
RACEBENDING IN SA THEATRES:
Before 2019, only actual racists, lunatics and mouthbreathing magatards would b-word about BIPOCS coming to replace the Mayo, regardless whether they were right or not. Even in South Africa, so far removed from the Burgerland-centric culture war phenomenon, we always did have lots of theatre productions where racebending and even the rare genderbending of famous characters would take place in very obviously canonical European centric backgrounds.
My mother had had her 60th birthday in the past 2 months, and desperately wanted to watch the Sound of Music for the 2nd time in her life since her childhood, and so my father had obligded her and the whole family went and watched. Now of all the famous longtime multi-decade successful theatre shows, especially compared to the more abstract stuff like that Catz! movie, the Sound of Music was explicitly a real-world historical universe, the story was fiction, but the history did exist as portrayed in Austria during Hitler's reign. There was a near 99.99999% kraut and other european population during those times, and no BIPOCS or turks or other non-white minorities outside of minorities in such numerical insignificance that they could probably been wiped out collectively in one British Flying-Fortress bombing raid.
And in south Africa, throughout the years, massive amount of racebending had taken place, usually with whites being replaced with coloureds, Indians and obviously black peeps. AND YET, and YET. This has never ever been even remotely controversial, even amongst the deeply conservative, usually racist rightoid Boers, and especially not RSA bongs here.

The reason I think is because the reasons for such in RSA theaters racebendings is far more sincere, than the cynical racebendings of Hollyweird. 1st of all it needs to be noted that traditionally theatre productions held in RSA with european origin like Sound of Music especially, has always drawn a mostly white crowd. From as far back as 1996-2000, to even the current run in 2024, the Sound of Music has still attracted 95-99% mostly white crowds (the other few percent being english speaking middle-class coloureds or Indians). This isn't because the modern black man cannot even afford such a basic rich man's luxury as theatre, since the South African Lion King musical tends to draw 90% black crowds in theatre runs in places like Sun City and Monte Casino Pretoria, in their hundreds of thousands, with full booked theatres in show tours going for as long as 3-6months (i have no idea if these are good or mediocre timeframes, im not a theatre person) Thus it is only because the target audiences of white vs black peeps here have diverging interests in what show types appeal to them.

Thus the main audience for shows like Sound of Music has always been the few white peeps in RSA, and no cultural or political pressures have existed from the government or anything to pressure south african theatres or theatre companies to diversify the personnel of their staff and actors and shit. Even with the famous government enforced BEE (Black-Economic-Empowerment) where anti-white and pro-black affirmative action had been mandated to try and clumsily address the economic disparity between blacks and whites post-Apartheid, did not in fact weirdly have a large impact upon racial diversifying momentum in RSA theatres, in the same magnitude or scope, in which for example the forced diversifying in high profile sports like Rugby and Cricket has. There has been the usual BEE drives to make staff like lighting technicians and support staff, cleaners and ticket salespersons ect more black, but not top down of forcing out white peeps from leading roles in traditionally predominant white historic shows like Sound of Music.
Instead when racebending took place it was usually because the company was short of staff, and 80% of the darn country was black, and thus the manpower pool was 80% black, and thus even though black peeps don't hold traditional theatre in as high regard as the mayo monkies of boers an bongs - and the utilization of whatever personnel resources was literally available came naturally, with no malicious intent from the ground up. Additionally most of these black peeps would play 2ndary and unimportant background actors, singers and dancers. Children being racebend was also the usually easiest choice and needed since (1) child actors of high-caliber are very rare, and (2) the incredible exhaustion of a theater show sometimes requires actors to do the same fricking show as much as THREE TIMES PER DAY! For experienced theater actors this is doable, and for high production companies, almost needed to offset the costs of expensive decor and hotel costs, but for children actors even one such run is usually exhausting far beyond their youth - it is thus not uncommon for a show like Sound of Music to have literally 3 sets of children actors for each of the timeslotted shows in a working day - one for each of the morning, afternoon & evening-slot.
That's 3 x7 = 21 fricking different children actors that's needed to be taken care of! A massive logistical undertaking, thus usually child actor racebending is the 1st to become a reality! But even adult white==>black racebending was common from as far back as 1995-2000 when democratization in south africa had taken place, usually mostly because there just literally wasn't enough white actors till fill all the darn roles, thus it was so naturally accepted by white peeps as a natural thing for theater, at least in RSA, after all isn't all of theater as far back as the time of the Greeks ,nothing more than a story told for entertainment, theater is the 1st line of fiction in media, where people are intrinsically expected to suspend their disbelief at the impossibility of the stage, and the stupidity of the plot, and allow themselves to be taken into a fictional world by the writers and stage actors and be entertained into an alternate reality filled with song dance
Additionally, even in very black-oriented (at least by taste in terms of participation) like the Lion King Musical, a large amount of dancers and actors would be white, with a reverse racebending often taking place. It is presumed by most South Africans that all of the characters, even though they are animals, in the animated Lion King movie, and the musical, are all 100% africans, similar to as how the Last Airbender, are all intended to be 100% asian filled alternate fictional reality. But these characters and background dancers are often racebended to be white, because ironically enough, usually there just isnt enough black actors or dancers of mucisions in the entire south african theater industry!!!
But just like their white counterparts, black audiences dont mind, because the white actors don their traditional garb, and portray their respective minor characters with complete sincerity. Thus similar to Sound of Music, whenever the 30% racebended cast of actors come and bow at the end of each of Sound of Music's run, all of the black cast obtains just as much praise and adulation as their white colleagues in their end-of-show applause.
I went on this long boring tangent to give background to myself when it comes to the forced diversity in modern Hollywood, especially in canonically european or white nation states, ESPECIALLY in non-fiction, where it seems in the past 5 years Hollywood went completely batshit with erasing all white historic figures with the most loose of interpretations of how actually diverse mideval european nation states had actually been in the past, long before the age of Globalization, and diversity we have come to expect in melting pot nations like modern Burgerland
Thus even in South Africa, for as recent as 2019, white peeps here would not only NOT be offended by the racebending of traditional or canonical white characters into black or coloured peeps, but actually ironically flattered in some form. Since productions like Sound of Music was literally aimed and absorbed by 95-99% white audiences, and any black actress working their butts of for this massive undertaking of a production, would knowingly do their best in front of a bunch of boer boomers if there ever was to be praise for anyone; and often good performances by black actors or actresses would illicit a grudging respect and adulation from even the most cynical and racist of my boer uncles, where they would state that the "negro woman was one of the good ones" as they supposedly showed clear respect for traditional european subject matter and still gave all in their performance lol It is the sincerity of Safrican theaters, compared to the cynicism of Hollyweird, that made racebending of white characters here in theater not only uncontroversial, but accepted.
I go on and on about this just to demonstrate how before 2019-2020, the notion of whites in media being replaced by some sinister cabal of ideologues in Hollyweird, wasn't at all even remotely a commonly held belief here in South Africa at least , from all of the people of many backgrounds with which I had interacted in the past 30 years - WHICH IS IN START CONTRAST TO 2024 where it is the default for even turbo normies like my parents and sister, and other people who do not have internet-brainrot and wingcuckery, where they waste away their lives on the internet about the culture war and longspost about safrican nonsense, instead it is now very commonly held by conservative or rightwing-ish people, who do have happy productive lives, and are too busy touching grass and having s*x all day to partake into internet brainrot nonsense, yet still has started the obvious one-sided racial-replacement of whites by Hollywood.
My point is - if even turbo normies from my IRL interaction have taken notice, of the pretty extreme levels of racebending, then you know the sheer STAGGERING amount of racebending which has taken place in recent movies and shows, have been taken note of by the general public at large, whether they deem to neurodivergently speak of it or not.

Much more than before, there was a general protest by longtime fans who felt that Luke Skywalker had been deliberately character assassinated by the writers to make the new generation heroine look more cool and competent in comparison (also holy shit it's been 7 years i dont even remember her name)

Point is a lot of logical foolish inconsistencies can exist, but there comes a point in which bent logic and nonsense from a fictional well beyond the average person's capacity to suspend their disbelief. And ironically the more fantastical the element in a work of fiction, the easier it was to accept, and suspend disbelief.
An example stated by more clever cinemaphiles than me, would make the case that a flying fire-breathing dragon was easier to accept, than a horse doing gravity-defying and physics-defying stunts, simply because the writer needed a copout for the protagonist, and the horse thus enacts something fantastical well beyond anything real-world horses can do, and jumps a 100m cliff to escape the bad-guys or something.
In such an example, the horse exists in our reality and not just fiction. We know the biological limitations of real world horses and animals, and thus any fantasy world horse doing gravity-defying stunts would create a bigger distraction to the audience, than a fictional creature like a dragon ever could.
Similarly some of the audience who aren't fat, and deduce that Sam's obesity is a break in real world reality logic during times of starvation, tend to argue that Sam's character ironically broke the believabilty of the show, more than dragons and giants and zombies did, because fat people exist in our world, and we understand the fricking world biology and the physics of calories.

COMPARING RACIAL DEMOS:
The diversity in the Wheel of Woke show was by far the biggest and most controversial sticking point for much of the fandom, people would pretty predictably state how "fine" they were with the amount of racebending having taken place, with the largest single complain being that the starting location of the books, namely Emond's Field, was basically a Newyork Subway perfectly bubble-leveled human gradient of perfect racial harmony
Now there were two reasons why this pissed people off:
FIRST: It was completely fricking unnecessary. ESPECIALLY compared to shows like Rangs of Power and Game of Thrones. In the events of the Game of Thrones series, and the Peter Jackson LOTR Trilogy, in those canons, the major events took place in basically a fictional alternate historical reality, but with a pan-european continent. These explicitly and unambigious fictional European nations weren't even remotely ambiguous in that they were mainly white people, or that they were directly inspired by european mythology or past Eurocuck empires and nation states.
Because both authors were white, and inspired by white historical happenings and mythos, they basically wrote what they knew. In both LOTR and GOT, non-white fictional peoples and nation states DID exist, in the fictional Far East of both universes, there were vast amalgamations of culturally different and powerful and prosperous empires, by arabs, blacks and asians.
But these Far Eastern nations and peoples would play backseat to the events of both GOT and LOTR, and basically the pan-european nations states would be the protagonist nations of each series respectively. Additionally both series would have basically 99% explicitly and unambiguously white eurocucks as the main storydriver protagonists for both series.
In LOTR, our old boi Tolkien would literally spend years writing lore about fictional far eastern nations, but those non-european fictional nations were so insignificant to the main story, that I dont even remember if a single black guy ever features in the 2000s LOTR trilogy. I know arabish easternlings would man and ride the fictional 10-storey Olifants, but beyond that we never catch a further glimpse of easternlings ever.

By 2010 we were a bit more progressive than those stuffy old rich priviledged white males like Tolkien, and the GOT series would make efforts to incorporate more People of Colour to roles of prominence, more BIPOC actors and fans a chance to shine in a mayo-dominated world. Compared to LOTR, GOT had much much more interaction between its pan-european continent, and the fictional alternate reality continents of africa and the eurasian mega-continent.
Yet still there was drama when the Khals/Dothraki nomadic horseriders were depicted by "too white looking" peeps back in 2011, yet nobody paid these proto-wokes any mind because G*mergate hadn't invented Trump and Magatards yet. For many, the Dothraki was explicitly a callback to Huns and eastern european horse tribes, which maybe mixed with tartars or turks later on, but for people who remember the Game of Thrones books before the TV-series came, this was how they were accepted by the fandom.
Additional drama would also occur in minor form when Dorne was depicted on TV by Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell, despite being a native spanoid mutt, and Dorne having been considered a fictional Spanish equivalent, NOT a BIPOC nation state metaphor.
For both of these instances, the TV series of GOT remained pretty much faithful, they had minor roles played by BIPOCS, including the black pirate who saved the onion-knight guy twice. They gave a human face to the Unsullied, and Dany's interpreter-woman, yet never went full woketard in racebending entire kingdoms or families.

Yet it is understandable why Liberals and Peeps of Colour would want to utilize racebending, in both of these titanic fantasy media, there were preciously little roles of value for black people. Not out of any malice of the authors, they were just mayos writing about eurocucks. Even the more modern and liberal George the fat-santa of delayed-literature still stayed his hand in focusing the lionshare of his book-series upon the european non-fiction of the War of the Roses, as inspiration.
So hollyweird types, and BIPOCs being desperate for any major parts to play, even after 20 years of white dominated fantasy cloakshit, is understandable. What was terminally r-slurred about the situation, was that compared to GOT and LOTR, the Wheel of Time should have been the one fricking series of books where diversity aught to have occurred naturally.
You guys see, in WOT universe the main events also take place on one singular continent, but the nation-states are absurdly culturally and RACIALLY diverse throughout its lands. You see chinese vikings basically assraping the entire eastern continent, with medieval stormtroopers riding on the backs of lying lizard wyverns during the events of the books.
You have the dark-skinned Sea-Folk (as in possibly black sub-saharens) who navigate the Southern continent from the island of Cindaking, and play a monumental pivotal role in the story.
You have the Domani from the Western state of Tarabon, if they were sexy gay Arabs, where both men and women wear face-veils all the time to appear sexy and mysterious.
You have Tear, which is a fortress city state controlling spices and naval trade, if they were a ducth/spanish amalgamation of cultures.
You have the middle kingdom of Andor - which is basically a fictional french matriarchy, if the french knights were honourable.
You guys get the idea. For once there was an already fricking inbuilt diverse set of nation-states, all of which would have to play pivotal roles in opposing the dark forces of the bad guys, and whose leaders and people would have to set aside their past grudges and petty squabbles so as not to be torn asunder when divided, and be easy pickings for the Dark One.
BUT EVEN THIS STILL WASN'T FRICKING ENOUGH
Hollywokes would STILL fricking racebend and diversify even the beginning town and nation-state into a perfect world of racial harmony. No real world Hungolian racial equilibrium, no buttholes, completely different racial makeups

DIVERSITY IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE SHOW UNDERMINES THEMES OF TOLERANCE AND UNITY:
But this comes to our 2ND REASON as to why people and myself had intense problems with the rainbow diversity in Emond's Field, the starting town of the books, and the TV series. You see Emond's Field is the most steriotypical Bongland rural backwater town imaginable, filled with rednecks and mouthbreathers. That was the literal point - to be the most smalltown medieval place, as the core protagonists would all be born or raised here.
Emond's Field is located in a region called the "Two Rivers", a place so backwater and rural to the setting, that the Fictional French Andor who once ruled over the region, don't even fricking send taxmen or registrars to count the people there as loyal citizens, despite being relatively populous. When shit hits the fan during the events of the books, and Trollocs (basically orcs, no really difference don't worry doesnt matter) would basically raise the entire fricking Two-Rivers to the ground, and possibly slaughter several hundred thousands, the place of Emond's Field had to literally defend themselves from annihilation - so far removed from andor, that the frog nights and halberdiers would not even learn about the Trolloc invasion, until long after this apocalyptic last stand.
THAT is how rural the place is. And the fact that the TV show of WOT begins the series with such a degree of racial diversity genuinely undermines any semblance of rural ethnic isolation which such a town might and forgotten province may have harboured through the centuries. I and others have joked that completely fricking unironically that the story would have been better served if they had fricking just made the village 100% black or brown, instead of this mismatch of races which defies the logic of reality, and as I'll come to further explain actually genuinely sincerely undermines the character development of the nation-state itself.

The 2010-Airbender film by Shamalangadindong, which was universally panned, had also at the time been heavily criticized for its racebending, particularly the Firebending nation, which had canonically been culturally referred to the Japs, with their invasion of the Earth Kingdom, a reference to the Japanese invasions of Korea and China through the ages. Whether M. Night Shalala just personally found the Firebenders cool, and wanted them to personally be Indian, because he was Indian, I don't know because throughout interviews before and after the release of the disastrously panned film, Night was shown to have his head up his butt and stroking his own ego, with clearly little care about the lore of the animated series the movie was based upon.
In the same fashion as the 2010 Avatar movie, if the wokecucks had literally made the isolated sheep and taback farmers of of Emond's Field and the Two Rivers, as a 100% racially homogenous group of black/brown peeps, it would literally have served the story themes of the growth of the village better as, well as the reflection of the personal growth of one of the prime 5 protagonists.

Now in the 14 books of the Wheel of Time, we begin the adventure with the 5 mainish protagonists which will carry us from this tiny, humble and peaceful small town into an epic Odyssey which will span the continent back and forth. These 3 boys and 2 girls will be known as the Emond's Field Five Power Rangers. And depending on which of these 5 you liked most, you would basically get into slapfights on internet forums about which one was the bestest coolest most relatable character.
In the world of Wheel of Time, people called Chanelers exist, basically the benders from Last Airbender, plus they have the power of Jedi mind-r*pe and brainwashing. These channelers are so powerful in universe that just a dozen of them can massacre entire companies of troops on an even battlefield in seconds, the powerscale is phenomenal and characters react accordingly whenever they are in the presence of these channelers.
The official organization for these mindrapists and turbo-powered super witches are Aes-Sedai. Also they are all women, which is partly why half of all societies are very matriarchial on the continent, but that's not important now. In the 14 book's opening an Aes-Seda (called Morraine) comes just in the nick of time to save the Emond's Field Five Power Rangers, the reason specifically because of the 3 boys, whom are very special.

In the books the 3 boys are specially enchanted by ethereal cosmic powers to be "Ta'veren", basically people empowered by the forces of light, to be mary sues, and empowered by fate to accomplish grand feats in the name of light, and against the badguys. However in this universe being a mary sue fricking sucks butt, and your life as a fate-imbued action-hero is deemed to filled with fear, suffering, pain, misery and horror. Humerously all 3 of the boys have absolute zero desire to fulfil their destiny and have no desire to be in the midst of danger and lead armies head on into the pikes and halberds and arrows of monster armies.
So for the 1st 3 fricking books, the 3 boys literally go to extreme degrees to avoid their divine responsibilities, and haul-butt out of there. However the way in which fate works in these books, that these "Ta'veren", these fate-bound peeps cannot escape their destiny no matter how much they try, or think it fricking sux donkey ballz. Example when the boys try to escape his "Ta'veren" nature, and try to slip away from Morraine, things would happen subtly to forcefully guide him back on the path to be an action hero, like a bridge inadvertantly collapsing just as he was a bout to cross, or a harbor suddenly being full, and no ship available for travel, cutting his escape, or a horse suddenly not wanting to gallop into his desired direction and so on.
The fun from the story comes from reluctant heroes failing to defy cosmic forces, forcing them to undergo the action-hero route in life, no matter the hardship, thus having a spin on the mary-sue trope in which only the cliche fricking Chosen One can save the day against Voldemort or whatever.

One of the boys, is Perrin Aybara, and of these 5 main characters he would have the most contentious storyline, as many of the readers felt that his character Arc peaked midway between the 14 books, and that he would just drift around for many novels, while the really important events and battles and plot-points would solve themselves while the author wrestled with the shitloads of viewpoints and plot-threads he had to tie closed before the climactic finale.
Yet even in spite of these shortcomings, especially compared to the astronomical levels of awesome awe-aweinspiring legendary shit the other 4 main characters would accomplish in comparison, the more humble story of Perrin would end up just as satisfying and fulfilling for me, as his character traits and character Arc, would be very thematically tied to the fate of Emond's Field village, and the future nation state of the Two Rivers.
Perrin would begin the story as a gentle giant. A massive dude with pecs so large the would make Gendry from GOT look like a wimp. He would train as a blacksmith for the town to grow his mountains of muscle, and yet was very violence-averse. He would be too afraid to accidentally hurt people by mistake, and thus developed the attitude of taking things very slow; which coincided with his habit of thinking things very slowly through, before taking any radical or reckless action.
These traits would let people from his childhood, as well as pretty much many people he would meet, would think of him as a slow-thinking r-slur, and always underestimate his intellect. The funny joke about Perrin throughout the series would be opponents looking at Perrin being this slow moving, slow responding mountain of muscle, and arrogantly thinking Perrin was a backwater-meathead, only to be sidestepped by him in a clever last moment.
At some point midway in the Wheel of Time series, after a bunch of cool shit had happened for like 3 novels, Perrin and the other Power Rangers hear that while they had been adventuring and kicking butt far away from the Two Rivers, that a giant Orc/Trolloc invasion was taking place in Emond's Field. The other 4 Power Rangers were needed to accomplish other Epic shit at other places on the continent, so Perrin would say goodbye for the other Power Rangers and hurry back home at the speed of greased lightning. As mentioned before the bumblefricks of the Two Rivers region was remote and rural, that no news would reach the ears of the rest of Andor (the fictional frog nation); and no help or reinforcements would arrive to save. They were completely laid bare.
In a heroic display of fantastical leadership, Perrin would organize the farmers and rural townspeople of Emond's Field into a makeshift militia. Where the Two-Rivers people would utilize longbows and hayforks to frick up the orcs. In a final battle involving basically the entire population of the Two-Rivers people crammed into Emond's Field, Perring would find himself inadvertantly be so heroic, that the survivors would declare him their new Lord, and to break away from Andor as a new fledgling nation state. For many readers this would be Perrin's climax as character, and people would feel he would not have as Epic adventures as the other 4 Power rangers for 7 books long, yikes
But in that time Perrin's new Two-Rivers barony would grow and change at a rapid pace throughout the story, as it was one of the only places in the continent to survive anarchy and destruction by the hands of the badguys, and even have food stores. On other parts of the continent, hellish civil wars, and invasions from the Chink-Vikings of the Sean-chan would drive millions of refugees eastwards.
Hundreds of thousands of refugees would flee wherever, and many would arrive at the Two-Rivers which had rapidly developed a formidable fighting force of Longbows and spear to keep safety. Initially reluctant to take any refugees, it was Perrin who decided to allow the fleeing people safe passage. In the books, the Two-Rivers would explode in population, and commerce, in a very short time, and become a powerhouse of a city-state, which had the central location of the continent, with many inland leading outwards from it. The backwards Two-River people would become metropolitan, begin to learn to read to easily communicate in the Barony, women began to adopt the clothes of the Arabian Tarabon refugees, and men began to adopt the building styles of all of the continent's various cultures.
In the same way in which Burgerland would explode as an even greater economic powerhouse globally, post WW2 now that all of the other Industrial nations involved in the war, had been reduced to ashes, Two-Rivers would fill a commercial gap as the rest of the continent burned.
By the time the Emond's Field Five original protagonists returned to the Two-Rivers in their multi-year adventures and battles, the entire place had been overhauled from the most backwater hillbilly sheepherding sheep-shagging farmlands, into a massive commercial hub metropolitan city state. The refugees from Tarabon and elsewhere would swear undying loyalty to Perrin for his mercy and clemency to their survival, and become loyal citizens of his barony.
Perrin also had success in the form of having an extremely charismatic waifu in the form a Latinx firebrand (Faile) whom basically forced the shy coward to marry her, and helped his operate his new Barony with immense skill. As events unfolded, his wife Faile would be captured by Badguys (some douchebags called the Shaido, dont worry not important now).
At that time in the books Perrin would lead massive columns of refugees fleeing from places like Ara Doman and Tarabon to safety; he would command a force in the hundreds of thousands, and the most diverse army in the continent, similar in reflection to his Barony.
In a most Epic climax, all the refugees which Perrin had saved, and after much herding, united with his armies of Two-Rivers longbowmen, to fricking finally vanquish the Shaido - a recurring group of badguys which would be a thorn in the sides of all of our heroes for 8 fricking books straight And save his wife Faile.

If the TV Show literally begins as a diverse metropolitan place, even in the fricking beginning town, then there is no place to grow, to demonstrate how the Emond's Field Five Power Rangers would grow out of their rural background, in worldly leaned cosmopolitan leaders. In the books, when the Five go to Andor's capital alone they are amazed at the sheer scale of the place, the different dresses and clothing, and how large in population the rest of the planet is.
When they arrive at even MORE exotic placed like Tarabon, they are scandalzied at the skimpy clothes of the Arabian sluts, and were always learning about the intense cultural differences between people. Are you dramatards gonna tell me that when the /r/wotshow meats people from different ethnic backgrounds, that that would have any impact upon the event, when these people of Tarabon.......are just as ethnically diverse as california, and the beginning village of Emond's Filed in the TV show fricking heck
One of the core themes of the whole books was overcoming prejudice against different cultures, even after culture shock, and all of our protagonists had to overcome their own bigotry, or convince key characters in the novels, to overcome theirs. None of that can happen when the entire fricking cast is is instantly diverse from the onset.!!! The entire fledgling nation-state of Perron's barony begins by being highly bigoted against the refugees, but then develop the tendency to copy the cultures of the fleeing people, and becomes an amalgamation of many cultures.
Like, the diverse beginning of TV SHow is how fricking Perin's Barony and army was supposed to look like at the ends of the 10-12th book, when Perin had thematically united a bunch of disperate r-slurs into a common goal to go and defeat the hordes of Orcs coming to eat everyone alive (not hyperbole).
Like, there is nothing to grow TO! The whole place is already perfectly diverse, and was supposed to be the thematic endgame for our hero, how you gonna show Perrin's greatest accomplishment of uniting such a diverse group of people: by making the beginning diverse cast even more diverse???? The last 75 or so pages had my heart feeling like it was about to beat out of my chest, I have never before felt that level of fear for such a prolonged period of time; it was like the feeling right after a near miss on the road, only it kept going. It was incredible and completely got me hooked on horror novels.

I read Nagle's Kill All Normies a while back, and it was almost great, but ultimately unsatisfying. It was like the author was afraid to cop to how much of an Internet addicted defective she really is, so she slapped a fake layer of sociological detachment on the whole thing.

On the other hand, I'm currently reading The Disconnect: A Personal Journey Through the Internet by an Irish woman who makes no pretense of being a functional human being.
All she does is pound energy drinks, waste her life on fringe Internet sites, moon over her ex that won't love her but keeps emailing her, bang studs off Tinder and work out obsessively at 4am when the gym is empty and she won't have to see other humans.
The book is lifefuel for terminally online girlies. But there's foreshadowing that she's going to try to off herself, so I guess it was suifuel for her to live it.
