Y'all do realize that some people work, right?

That doesn't account of the other games having higher player counts... the same rules apply for each.

:#marseyitsover:

It's a Wednesday tho.

There's fewer people playing it then Rome: 2. It's Wednesday for those people to.

It is Wednesday and there are 4880 people playing 3K right now and 10k WH3 while only 2700 playing Pharaoh. It must be a different Wednesday time dimension for people on Copium.

Rome 2 total war released literally 10 years ago and has more players :#marseydead:

I'm having a blast playing currently. I have a feeling when it finally goes on sale and more people buy they are going to be like β€œdarn this game is actually good af”

The only reviews I've seen for it on YouTube have been pretty bad though

slapfight ensues

:#marseyrofl:

A poll on this subreddit 2 years ago showed the Bronze Age was the least desired time period for a new game, but CA still made one. Until they do something the players actually want this will continue.

Can we stop spreading this? It was like a hundred votes on an already niche community. It barely means anything at all

Actually, it was almost a thousand

I don't pretend that the pool specifically is important, but the "niche community" is literally the community of Total war, it's still stupid that they didn't do any research on what time period could be more popular in the fanbase

It's a Wednesday

All TW games are released during the week and all those figures are release day figures, majority of TW players are older who play after work in Europe. 6-9 GMT time is prime time for TW games, so this is its peak figure, it might climb slightly higher by weekend but not by much if at all.

Keep pounding that keyboard my man

:#marseysoyjak:

https://old.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/1762l7e/more_people_are_playing_rome_ii_rather_than/k4jgvd8?context=8&sort=controversial

guys, guys. most people play on the weekend this number means NOTHING. also the game was #9 on the bestsellers yesterday. you are all living in a reddit bubble. pharaoh slays and CA is as healthy as ever (/s)

And OP posts a 5 AM player count lol

So people play more Rome 2 at 5am and at other times more Pharao? Good to know!

Above: the liberal woke media has removed the upskirt panty shot on the big titty tentacled fighter girl.

Decade-old fighting game Skullgirls has been hit with more than 600 negative Steam reviews in just 24 hours because of a patch that mostly tweaks and removes artwork that the developers say doesn't reflect their current "values" or "broad vision" for the future of the game. The overall Steam rating for Skullgirls remains "Very Positive," but its recent review average has tumbled down to "Mostly Negative."

COOMER ALONE WEAK

:marseycoomer3:

COOMER TOGETHER STRONG

:!#marseycoomer::#marseycoomer:

The devs summarize the art changes to reflect three areas:

  • "Allusions to real-world hate groups" seen in the dress and iconography of Skullgirls' Black Egret army, particularly its Nazi-like red armbands
  • Instances in which characters "are fetishized and/or have sexualization imposed upon them," with particular attention toward younger characters
  • Some content "believed to be in poor taste" with regard to race

Other changes

the combo counter phrase for 18-hit combos, which had been "Barely Legal," was replaced.

Don't worry, though, the devs are still strongly s*x-positive!

Price suggested that the core Skullgirls identity hasn't changed, noting for instance that "Skullgirls is no stranger to characters that confidently express their sexuality"

Even the underage ones!

Anyway, here's what the game looks like I guess:

For me, I played my yearly/bi-yearly game of CS and tied in a short match, so I’ll count that as a win.

The Last Spell finally hit 1.0 and har their β€˜full release’ on Steam. Personally, I’m a bit disappointed. The game seems buggier than when it was in early access, where I never had a freeze or crash. A lot of the better weapons got nerfed, such as the swords and shortbows, which is sad. Although others got buffed, it still feels like the only important RNG in the game is which starting weapons you roll, which night completed reward weapons you get, etc. I don’t think the devs will ever change this no matter how hard they try unless they buff some of the shitty ones way too much, it’s just not the nature of the game. Still a fun game, but I think I enjoyed the previous patch more than 1.0.

What’s everyone else been playing?

Is anybody else feeling too old for vidya?

Like I still check out new games coming out.

In general though, you watch something like the game awards and it feels like the video game industry has mostly peaked and found its place in human society.

Video games are an entertainment steup meant for children, teenagers, retired people, and those who have lots of free time on their hands.

Now every time I am looking at video games all I can think is that I would rather be doing something productive with my own life that actually makes a difference and improves things for myself rather than sit here and play.

Has anybody else hit that point yet?

Right now the only game I feel any excitement for is GTA VI, and looking at its trailer even it looks graphically held back by the limitations of the PS5, it's own game engine, and current gen consoles.

However, I must admit that I am positive that it will improve graphically by the time it releases compared to what we got in the current trailer.

I feel like peak Valve is already behind us. Same for peak Epic Games.

I am not even sure which game studio is leading anymore or if its just a bunch of top companies competing with one another.

The market cap net worth of Nintendo is stuck at 53 billion and we still haven't got a video game company that crossed over 100 billion USD.

It's like the video game industry peaked and we know this is where it's going to be forever.

Personally, I think the future of the video game industry is that it will die out as it gets subsumed by larger electronic industries.

You will have games built and published by departments of large giant companies instead of companies that specialize in video games.

We already see this with Epic Games, which is more a game engine company that happens to sell games.

Valve which is a steam company which happens to make games.

Playstation which is a console company which happens to make games for the console and pc.

Microsoft which happens to make games for a console and PC marketplace.

I expect we will keep seeing more of this as video game players around the world appear to have peaked or at least feel like it.

https://explodingtopics.com/blog/number-of-g*mers

We can see based on the graph on this site that the number of new g*mers continues to rise per year at ever slower annual rates. For 2024 we are as far down as 3%.

Looking at the trajectory on the graph, it appears that peak video game market player count will be reached by the end of this decade, middle of next decade at the longest.

Yet you still don't see everybody going out to play or care about video games today.

I think we as a species have figured out that video games hold the place of being something we play for an hour or two a day at most, and a few hours on the weekend in general, and with us having set a general place for video games in life, we have now hit a peak mark beyond which the video game industry simply cannot grow no matter what it does.

The video game industry is forever stuck in the new product, better than the older product setup, with the same number of customers per generation of gaming systems and generation of video games.

However, even in this scenario, video games will reach a point where you cannot make more realistic or interesting video games that hold the attention of people, and the only thing left to do is to lower the prices of video games.

We already see this with movie streaming services that replaced cinemas for many people.

It is likely that the future of video games 20 years from now is going to be on the same path, where we stream video games rather than buy a specific console for games like in the old days.

Gaming consoles and gaming laptops become a relic of the past, as you just buy a TV that can also stream/ play video games on screen on demand.

I give it 30 years before we hit this point.

You just need to look at how the cd, dvd, and the movie industry peaked and then disappeared as their features could be easily accessed via other means.

The same thing can be expected of the video game industry in the years ahead.

Movies today already take 6-8 months of filming to be finished.

CoD games today take around 3 years to develop.

It is likely that a point will be reached where tech scales up far enough that AAA game development times will again become smaller over time.

We may even see a return to 2 year development cycles for some triple A games by the end of 2030.

Games like GTA VI are the exception right now, that take around 8-9 years to finish development.

The last of US part 2 took around 5-6 years of development.

Unreal engine 5 took 4 years to develop.

Gta 5 took 5 years to finish development.

Rachet and Clank rift apart was in development for 3 years.

In the next generation of video games expect game development times to trend downwards as the video game market reaches global saturation point and the only way left to make more money with video games is to release them faster in the case of games that are released every 2-3 years. Games like CoD will likely be stuck with one year cycles.

So, what do you dipshits play all day?

![](/images/16777921070819917.webp)

I've played League, Wow, Valorant, Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, Path of Exile , CSGO, even fricking Dota 2

Some single player games here and there

Been Playing League for 10 years (with numerous and long breaks, of course). Decided to quit the game, my last match was 31/12/22

Recently I haven't been playing anything. I'm waiting for the next Path of Exile league. I would be playing T7 and MK11 but my computer for some reason started pooping itself in some inexplicable way when I try to play those two and i'm technologically r-slurred :marseycry: so I just accepted my fate. Recently downloaded GranBlue Fantasy Versus, which is surprisingly fun. The game is extremely dead though, so I downloaded first from Fitgirl to try it out. Most of my friends aren't into FGs, so I'm playing with just one buddy of mine through Parsec (which is shitty). Even if it's just 1v1s it's been fun.

Now i'm looking forward to SF6, T8 and MK12. All 3 of which I'm not gonna be able to play because my computer won't be able to run them :#marseycontemplatesuicide:

However GranBlue Fantasy Versus: Rising is also on the horizon, and my computer can <probably> run that one. Also sheep waifu.

Understanding the Sony leaks, why Sony might be fricked.

Many people on the various posts about the Sony leaks have been wondering what exactly all this means and why Sony is having issues. This post is designed to break some of the scattered info down to create an idea of where Sony is headed.

To understand anything about modern Sony, one needs to understand 3 key things:

  • The PlayStation 5 was released a little over 3 years ago, in that time 12 exclusives have been released.

  • The Game & Network Services (gaming) division is Sony's largest division, making about 26 billion USD of the 88 billion they made across the whole company in FY2022. It is also the primary driver of the company's growth. The Music division and the Imaging and Sensing division are also growing, but not nearly as quickly. The Electronics Products & Solutions division is a good source of revenue, but it's basically stagnant.

  • In April 2016 (April 1st lol), Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE) was created to operate PlayStation (and pretty much the entire gaming division). This ended up effectively moving the HQ of the PlayStation part of the company from Japan (the HQ of SIE's two predecessors) to San Mateo, California, the HQ of the newly formed SIE.

Sony's PlayStation brand has always been a very strong performer in the gaming market, ever since the PS1. It has had it's ups and downs, but has always been a good source of revenue and growth that's been able to capitalize on the continuously growing video game industry. This is best shown with the fact that PS5 has sold way more units than the Xbox series X and S, about twice as many.

However Sony is actually 2nd in a 3 player race, Nintendo is absolutely crushing both Sony and Microsoft in terms of console units sold. The Switch has sold 3x more than the PS5 despite only being twice as old. In fact in 2023 the Switch has been estimated to have sold an extra 10 million units over the PS5, so the Switch's advantage is not all because of it's age.

The main reason is that many Japanese developers and customers started to switch to the Switch, this will be explained later.

No big deal, right? Sony can at least keep a lock on the American AAA market and claw back over the next few years, right? Well, that was probably the plan, until Microsoft did the unexpected: they changed the entire industry.

Microsoft has always treated Xbox as a side business, never really getting the full backing of the entire company. This is because Microsoft is 24x larger than Sony in terms of market cap. Even if Xbox had an overwhelmingly dominant position in the current console business, it wouldn't really be a huge deal.

Thus, Sony always remained safe knowing that they were too small and insignificant to be crushed by Microsoft, and that they also had a very strong Japanese following (of both customers and developers) that would never go team Xbox. That is of course until two different developments occurred:

Microsoft decided that the console business isn't important... but the entire gaming industry is. They determined that if they could get a large slice of the entire gaming pie, not just console money, they would be able to make tons of money.

The Japanese turned on Sony, and started to move to Nintendo.

Both of these developments are best explained separately, so I'll be making 2 different posts that will cover each side of this 2 pronged assault on Sony's lunch.

Which should I write about first:
