AITA for being repulsively hideous?

AITA for continuously triggering her trypophobia?

(Trypophobia is an intense and disproportionate fear or disgust for holes, bumps, or patterns that are clustered together or repetitive)

(aka r-slurred)

I (19F :marseywall:) have had acne for so long that I honestly can't remember my skin without it. I used to wear a lot of concealer to cover it up, but that only made things worse. Eventually, I realized my skin was controlling my life (and draining my bank account πŸ’€), so when I started at a new school, I decided to stop wearing makeup :chinkbitch:. My skin still isn't great, but I'm on medication, so I have some hope that it will improve.

Here's the problem: There's a girl in my class, let's call her Callie (18F :!marseybooba:), who has trypophobia [is r-slurred]. I had no idea until we were put in a group together. The moment I spoke to her, she started crying. Naturally, I asked what was wrong, and she screamed at me that my face was triggering her trypophobia :marseywitchtriggered:. Her friends immediately jumped in to comfort her :marseypearlclutch2: while I just sat there, confused, wondering if I was supposed to apologize for my skin, something I obviously didn't choose to have :10inbongland:.

When I tried to speak again, she told me to shut up and leave because I was " :gigachadnoticeme: drawing attention to myself by talking. :gigachadnoticeme:" I asked what she expected me to do about it, and she said I could at least wear concealer. I explained that it wasn't an option because it's expensive :marseypoor: and just worsens my acne. Her friends glared at me and called me selfish :marseymeangirls:.

That was just the first incident. Ever since, anytime I sit near Callie or have to present in front of the class, she starts dry heaving or crying :marseychonkerfoidpuke: (having a panic attack?) :marseywomanmoment2:. It's disrupting lessons so much that my teacher pulled me aside and asked if I could just wear concealer for the sake of keeping the peace. She admitted it wasn't fair but said she couldn't think of another solution.

I already feel like such a freak because of my skin. I know my skin is horrid, :marseyskinnedwalk: but why am I the one expected to cater to Callie? I didn't choose to have acne any more than she chose to have trypophobia. I can't help but feel like I'm being unfairly treated here, but at the same time, I know she can't control her reaction either.

So… AITA? Should I just wear the darn concealer?

Canada, as it turns out, isn't broken. That was the message coming out of Pierre Poilievre's big rebrand rally, where he tried to reposition himself as a champion of Canada's virtues rather than just another critic of its failures. And while Liberal partisans will look skeptically on this attempted political metamorphosis, the biggest doubters might actually be some of his erstwhile fans: the freedom convoy.

Right out of the gate it clearly is a hit piece on Pierre.

Check the social media accounts of any prominent convoy participant, whether it's Tamara Lich, Pat King, or their dedicated transcriptionists in the alt-press, and their sympathy for Donald Trump and antipathy towards Canada becomes immediately apparent. "Your sudden, newfound, fake patriotism is truly indicative of how stupid you think we are," Lich said. "The entitlement of certain Canadians is humorous," fellow organizer Chris Barber wrote. "If we had leadership in Canada who cared about Canadians like Trump cared about Americans … we wouldn't be in this situation."

Yes the !leafs who like freedom want to be part of a country that unarguably has more rights and freedoms.

They insist the real problem isn't Trump's ongoing threats to our sovereignty but Justin Trudeau's continued existence β€” and, of course, the injustices and affronts that were inflicted upon them by his government. Rupa Subramanya, one of the most sympathetic chroniclers of the convoy's exploits, suggested that "Canadians have bought into the lie by politicians across the board that Trump wants to annex Canada, when what I believe is that he really wants Canadians to get rid of the Liberal government and have greater economic integration and cooperation with the US."

Trudeau drove the country into the shitter. He is why it sucks here. I don't give a frick about Trump and his "threats", "threats" which amount to "We'll make you a full state and give you all full citizenship in the best country on the gods green earth"

That's right: for these folks, public health orders aimed at protecting them and their fellow citizens are a greater threat to their liberty than an American government explicitly threatening their liberty. Policies like vaccine mandates and mask regulations β€” most of which, it's worth reiterating, were implemented by provincial governments β€” are worth resisting, apparently, but unjustified economic warfare is best met with submission and docility.

Yes forcing me to wear a mask that doesn't stop the spread (inb4: well you shoulda worn a kn95! No I don't care they were sold out everywhere and tons of the one in circulation were fake!) and get vaxxed to be able to buy food (This was seriously floated and why I finally gave in, well that and being able to work) is and was a massive threat to my freedom.

Getting to be American is the opposite of a threat to my freedom.

In some respects, the convoy's refusal to join the rest of the country in its fight against Trump's repeated provocations isn't all that surprising.

The convoy is over. It ended years ago. This is some g*mergate in current year shit.

What brought them to Ottawa in 2022 wasn't love of their country but hatred of the government in charge of it

No shit r-slur

hich helps explain the very conspicuous presence of American flags, Trump flags, and even Confederate and Nazi flags. It's why they plotted, at least in the beginning, to overthrow that government. And it's why, in a moment where the country they claim to love is being actively threatened with economic and political subjugation, they're rooting for the person doing the threatening.

I'm getting a stars and bars shirt just to piss off this jslu

They're welcome to believe whatever they want, of course. That's one of the virtues of living in a free and democratic society: you can pretend it's a woke dictatorship if that makes you feel better about your life choices.

Seal on the loose in the "hustle and bustle" of downtown New Haven, CT

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1739826091ykb61ZgfH6wMcg.webp https://i.rdrama.net/images/1739826091jUFwe9tg8rYueg.webp https://i.rdrama.net/images/1739826091RZw5gKvbS0rbHw.webp

The seal, believed to be about five or six weeks old, was found in the middle of Chapel Street near East Street. Police blocked off the area to keep it safe until the DEEP and Mystic Aquarium arrived.

"It definitely was concerning for us when we say he was amidst all that hustle and bustle of the city," said animal rescue technician Francesca Battaglia.

Battaglia said this wasn't the first time the aquarium's animal rescue team had seen the seal. He was in Branford last week, and on Saturday, he was spotted – maybe more fitting – next to Shell & Bones Oyster Bar and Grill on South Water Street in New Haven.

"We're like, he's still bright and alert and looking good," she said. "Maybe we can just relocate him to a safe beach, and so our team did do that. But then, unfortunately, the next day, he showed back up in the middle of the city there."

I loled at this passages. Despite being a commie himself Bely could take a joke and make fun of his own movement. Despite the rather complex language this book is quite satirical.

Aleksandr Ivanovich is sort of a charming neurodivergent for a terrorist. Nikolai Apollonovich is a whiny cute twink and his dad is right about him.

Sofia Petrovna needs better friends and would seriously benefit of owning a dildo, but unfortunately she's a weeb in 1900s Russia.

In a bizarre turn of events, a university dormitory in China went up in flames after a student, in a moment of panic, set fire to his s*x doll to keep it hidden from his roommates. The incident took place at Hefei University of Technology in Anhui province on February 10, when the student, fearing exposure, made a rash decision that nearly resulted in disaster.

It has come to my attention that Red Dead 2 has a 2 HOUR LONG UNSKIPPABLE INTRO

What the frick was rockstar smoking? 30 minutes in and I'm ready to uninstall it entirely. I pirated this and still feel ripped off. I've downloaded a save from the real start of the game in the hopes of actual game play, but at this point I don't think the game can recover from this.

And god knows GTA 6 is going to be the exact same sort of clusterfrick

Newly discovered near-Earth asteroid isn't an asteroid at all β€” it's... a Tesla :marseyconfused2:

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1738349770az7st7nqOkSfmg.webp

Astronomers have been left red-faced after announcing the discovery of a new near-Earth asteroid β€” only to realize that the supposed space rock was the remains of Elon Musk's cherry-red Tesla Roadster and its spacesuit-clad driver "Starman."

The misidentified object, which was launched into space on board a SpaceX rocket in 2018, highlights a growing problem in astronomy that could lead to costly errors, researchers say.

On Jan. 2, the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center (MPC) added a new object, dubbed 2018 CN41, to its list of near-Earth asteroids. The supposed space rock was identified by an unnamed amateur astronomer in Turkey using years of publicly available data, Astronomy.com reported. However, just 17 hours later, the MPC released an editorial notice retracting the discovery after the citizen scientist realized they had made a mistake.

The Tesla Roadster, which was previously used by Elon Musk, was launched into space on Feb. 6, 2018, as the test payload for the maiden launch of SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket. The publicity stunt garnered widespread attention at the time, partly due to Starman β€” a mannequin in the car's driving seat that was wearing a likely defective spacesuit and "listening" to David Bowie's album "Space Oddity" on loop.

The car and its driver headed toward Mars after escaping Earth's gravity and were supposed to enter a stable orbit around the Red Planet, which raised alarms at the time that it could become a potential Martian "biothreat" if it accidentally crash-landed there. However, the pair overshot their target and instead entered a stable orbit around the sun. Now, it circles the sun and occasionally zooms past Mars.

The Tesla has now completed roughly 4.5 trips around the sun, traveling at roughly 45,000 mph (72,000 km/h), according to whereisroadster.com. This means that the car has now exceeded its initial 36,000-mile warranty around 100,00 times.

However, the car is probably unrecognizable now after being exposed to years of intense radiation from the sun and bombarded by tiny fragments of space rocks, which have likely stripped the outer layers of the car and shredded Starman.

This is not the first time that human-made objects have been mistaken for near-Earth asteroids. The MPC has temporarily listed a number of spacecraft as space rocks over the last two decades β€” including the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft, NASA's Lucy probe, the joint European-Japanese BepiColombo mission and others β€” as well as rocket boosters and other debris, according to Astronomy.com.

This type of confusion will also likely increase as more human-made objects are launched into space.

These misidentifications could lead to more false alarms for near-Earth asteroids, which could in turn result in costly errors, Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard and Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, told Astronomy.com. "Worst case [scenario], you spend a billion [dollars] launching a space probe to study an asteroid and only realize it's not an asteroid when you get there," he said.

While space agencies and private companies are required to accurately track their products in orbit around Earth, there is currently no legislation that forces them to do the same for spacecraft and debris that escape Earth's gravity, like the Tesla Roadster.

However, "such transparency is essential for promoting space situational awareness, reducing interference between missions, [and] avoiding interference with observations of natural objects," members of the American Astronomical Society warned in a 2024 statement.
