Howdy all, given what we've been seeing in the mod queue and what you've certainly all been seeing out and about we wanted to be clear on our stance here.

r/neoliberal is a liberal sub, we support liberal values. These include but are not limited to supporting a person's right to live their lives free of discrimination or interference.

We've seen a large uptick in comments stating that democrats should abandon certain groups (specifically transgender people) in order to gain votes. Let's be clear, this is not our sub's position - we support trans rights, we support minority rights, we support freedoms of movement and expression.

Anyone making these comments will be permanently banned, we've had enough. Like Jesus fricking Christ, be better.

Example of what's okay to say: "I'm afraid democrats will abandon X group to earn votes"

Removals are a legal process with very limited ability for POTUS to do anything about. There are 600 immigration judges in the entire country, last year they cleared just north of 1m cases with 1.6m new cases. Congress have refused to add more money to the system for the last decade. It takes 3 years to get a removal order, anyone who has already claimed asylum is here for 11 years.

Immigration detention is at capacity. Congress isn't going to give him the $1t a year it would cost to detain them all.

The manga in question is "It's a Little Late, but I've Fallen in Love with My Childhood Friend" (imasara desu ga osananajimi wo suki ni natte shimaimashita).

The story initially starts out as this extremely cutesy story of a highschool girl realising she's fallen for her childhood friend and her subsequent efforts at getting closer to said childhood friend. Now, when I say this starts out cutesy I'm not exaggerating. It's very cutesy and full of fluff . It feels like the type of manga where the MC and her crush holding hands would be treated as a major romantic development.

But come chapter 21, disaster strikes.

It is revealed that one of the side characters had been fricking our MC's object of affection . Yep, this is no longer a manga about two cutesy virgins getting closer to each other. Then the POV entirely shifts towards the side girl and it becomes a depressing story of how this girl is fricking our guy in order to distract herself from her fricked up family situation . This is a complete tonal shift from how the manga was for the past 20 or so chapters.

Suffice to say the fans were not pleased ( as you can guess from 10x increase in comments on mangadex for chapter 21 ). The show gets bombared with negative reviews taking its ratings from an impressive 9 to a 6 with people making accounts just to shit on the author .

Exactly. On top of it the premise didn't hint any of this. Rather the premise had been set on a short wholesome romcom. So the drama was really unexpected and this chapter is so sudden.

You're fundamentally misunderstanding the nature of the conflict. It's not say "democracy in Europe/America versus non-western dictatorship". It's a conflict of ideas between liberal-democracy and autocracy/authoritarianism and this is happening inter-state and intra-state. Donald Trump is in many ways aligned with the values of Putin more than he is with the values of liberal democracy. Likewise Orban in Hungary or Netanyahu in Israel despite their countries being liberal-democracies and historical allies.

Putin doesn't hate the UK or USA, he's at war with liberalism. So he's at war with us and the only way he won't be is if we are no longer a liberal-democracy (which is the direction of travel under Trump).

It's obviously messy as you can have players blurring the lines depending on the context and their own self interests.

Letting Netanyahu get away with war crimes is a victory not for democracies but for the autocratic/authoritarian World view that values naked self interest and might-makes-right politics. The reason that is a bad thing is because the liberal-democratic model has ushered in the single greatest period of peace in World history and was built on the lessons of the horrors of the great wars and other massacres.
