I don't know enough about furries, thank god, and am unwilling to go into their spaces so I cant do a post on this properly. But I was very disappointed to see that the rdrama community hasn't picked up on this fresh drama (unless I missed it, in which case: ) ! So here's my attempt at a recap, let's begin!

Meet Anthpo

For those of you who don't know him already, Anthony Po (Anthpo) is a Youtuber famous for doing crazy bits in real life, causing chaos, and having absolutely 0 public anxiety. Essentially embarassing himself by doing dumb shit, but not being embarassed. He started small as a high schooler, but his antics grew in size. Some of his most memorable antics to me were:

- defending my school as Ben10 @MasterLawlz

- annoying students as Perry the Platypus

- winning an asian beauty pageant as a white guy

1 year ago, he announced he was quitting Youtube and followed through, not making any videos for the past 1 year. That changed on May 14, 2024 when he announced he was coming back and would be releasing 1 video a month for the next 2 years. He also revealed that over the last year, he had been committing larger scale pranks which cost him $125k.

The first of those pranks?

Spending 200 days undercover as a furry

Why? To determine whether the infamous furry parties (read: orgies) were real or not. Spoiler alert: they were. I'd highly recommend watching the video since it's like 15 minutes, but TLDR: he created a fursona, got mildly famous on tiktok under the alias Sigma Paws, went to a convention, got invited to multiple orgies, attended them, got naked, and did not have s*x ( ).

It was clear that 80% of the joke is that he "pretended" to be a furry for 200 days, and 20% is making fun of furries. He ended with the message of "furries are weird, but they're not bothering others and most of them are neurodivergent, so don't bully them."

Surely, no one could get mad at this kind conclusion on one of the grossest groups on the internet

Wrong. The furry community was miffed (yiffed? ) and he started receiving insane backlash!

Anyways, people are saying they're mad because he included some heavily edited footage of the orgies (blurring out people, changing their voice sounds in an attempt to preserve privacy) and it was "unclear if he had consent."

Of course, those of us who are not r-slurred know that the furries are just mad their degeneracy was outed yet again as it took Anthpo very little effort to get invited to these orgies at cons that were "for all ages."

Sort of. The falsifying business records is a misdemeanor, but doing so with intent of another crime elevates it to a felony. Prosecutors didn't have to prove what the underlying crime was, just that there was intent.    The other crime (one of 3 floated by prosecutors) was that this was done because it would be bad for Trump in the election. Essentially, he falsified business records so that the American public would not find out that he cheated on his wife with a porn star, and that he paid her for her silence.    If the defense had convinced the jury that the reason Trump did it was to protect his family - that this had nothing to do with the election - he could've been found not guilty. However, there were several bits of testimony that showed Trump's concern was the election.   Then, prosecution would've had to tie the fraud to a different crime (they mentioned tax fraud and another crime I don't remember as possible underlying crimes).  (3)

Correct, the crime that was charged was a misdemeanor, so the statute of limitations had run. The “in furtherance of another crime” part is what would have made it a felony, but the DOJ had previously investigated the other crime that was alleged and declined to prosecute (which means that legally speaking, he didn't commit “another crime” whether or not he did the thing that was alleged). The other crime wasn't a state crime, it was a federal crime, so the state doesn't have the ability to prosecute for it. You can't simply allege a crime that - if committed - would ratchet the charge up to a felony, which is one of the eleventy billion reasons this will be overturned on appeal, at some level. If you could do this, it gives prosecutors absolute free rein to enhance any charge for which an enhancement exists, by simply alleging the crime that would enhance the charge was committed. When you glance at the events it looks like a obvious open and shut case. Frantic guilt ridden women + broken tail light + dead man who died on unnatural wounds = obvious hit and run. I thought she was guilty but even ignoring all the weirdness with the rest of the witnesses it doesn't make sense. The dark organs were caused by *hypothermia. The only real wounds he has are to the back of his head and his arm. That is an impossible injury to get from a car. Let's say she scratched him up with the glass. He would've have embedded glass in his wounds and the wounds would've had cleaner edges, they wouldn't be so thick. Lets say she threw the glass at him. He wouldn't have so many scratches at different angles. They dont line up when his arm is extended or bent. The cuts would've been at the point or line of impact when the glass shattered and cut into him. The thicker rounder cuts around his elbow aren't consistent with sharp glass. The scratches couldn't have been from being run over ... (1)

I'm not a free Karen read person but if I had to imagine my state of mind if someone I loved was killed and there was a possibility of an accident I caused, I would prob say the same things in a state of shock. I often blame myself for things I didn't do when I'm grieving. To this day I blame myself for killing my grandmother when I insisted she come over for thanksgiving at her ripe age of 96 in the bitter cold. She got ill right after that and never recovered. I still ask my family if I killed her. (I, of course, did not)But many people beat themselves up over things when things are shocking, unexplainable and just plain terrifying to them in the height of trauma. My current assumption, subject to change as more evidence comes in, is that she hits him just after 12:30. It feels natural to draw a connection between McCabe texting him to move the car at 12:31 and his phone GPS stopping in the place where the body is found at 12:32. The narrative for me would be an accident, not murder. He gets the text to move the SUV behind McCabe's. He says he'll go inside to make sure Read's invited while she's moving the SUV. He gets out of the car and slowly starts to go around, she's drunk and not paying attention, and knocks him backwards. It's not the high speed reverse tactical driving the prosecution's suggesting, but it's hard enough to send him backwards a bit and he cracks the back of his head on the asphalt as he lands (for reference, this Tua clip). He gets up and tries to walk to the car or house, but his legs get wobbly and he collapses off to the side before losing consciousness.
