He further replies clarifying that people should be protesting for change at YouTube VS attacking a shitty guy that'll just be replaced with another shitty guy. Path dependence is certainly a factor - but it's hardly dominant, or even the biggest one for most areas. More importantly though: for a fire that severe, there is a fairly good chance the concrete building will need to be demolished anyway. Concrete won't burn, but it can be damaged by fires in other ways: expansion, corrosion, spalling, cracking, etc. This is also a major factor in other regions in the US with different disaster risks. Temporary Protected Status or TPS is a legal mechanism that protects illegals from deportation. According to the gov itself, Homeland Security may designate a foreign country for TPS due to conditions in the country that temporarily prevent the country's nationals from returning safely, or in certain circumstances, where the country is unable to handle the return of its nationals adequately. USCIS may grant TPS to eligible nationals of certain countries (or parts of countries), who are already in the United States.

This is a godsend for illegals from particular shithole countries because it is a literal trump card when it comes to illegal immigration. As long as TPS is extended, the date in which you had to make it to the US to apply for it keeps being rolled down, and with shitholes like Venezuela who remain unsafe given their actual dictator in chief, the prediction was that it would be free from Drumpfs list of targets as they are neither accepting deportees or stable/safe/not committing human rights abuses

TPS as a trump card is legitimately insane and lawcels use it to a ridiculous degree to prevent deportations. Notably, TPS can be used during deportation proceedings to:

>prevent enforcement of an active deportation order

>appeal a deportation order to then close the appeal once you have TPS

Seems like lately the internet has been deluged with posts that are along the lines of "I NEED an neurodivergent gf" or "me and my neurodivergent gf" etc.

As someone who actually dated an actually neurodivergent girl for about a year I can promise that it actually sucks. If that's what were happening I'd agree with you. However the 100,000x fold YoY increase in the usage of the words "Nazi", "Fascist", and "regime" to describe our democratically elected government suggest to me that reasoned discussion of government policies is not primarily what's going on. When subredditors describe what they're doing as "doomscrolling" that word seems to have a negative connotation, in my mind. all my life i've been someone who cries at the drop of a hat - in elementary school, during ballet class, at parties, etc etc. one of my exes would get so mad at me when i cried and accuse me of doing it to derail whatever stupid fight we were having and make him feel bad. i kept swearing i wasn't doing it on purpose and i tried my best not to cry but he never believed me. i do try!! i hate crying. it's embarrassing and it's a waste of my time. i'm missing an important meeting right now :( i have to go collect my laptop that's been sitting there abandoned. what do i even say? nothing? say my tummy was upset?

Good lord this woman is a MESS. Someone casually mentioned grad school and it caused her to cry for the rest of the fricking day.
