I see hordes of people flooded out of their homes in Florida traveling north in migrant caravans for safety, especially as they traverse the Deer River gap in the Adirondacks. Fox News will opine on how unfair it is that Canada isn't letting them in.

I think it will depend on government responses. The US is trying to build walls and privatize all our social nets. We are cannibalizing the public good. If Project 2025 comes to fruition we will be dramatically dropping the quality of life for almost all citizens.

If Canada has better accommodations- affordable healthcare, available housing or land, and possibly a more stable government then yes I do expect there will be an Exodus.

If we get to the point where the Arctic sea is navigable then Canada will be prime to become an exporter of rare metals from deep sea mining too.

Without appropriate water management most of the western and middle United States will suffer the Dust Bowl again. Our entire corn belt is grown with aquifer water - that will become too low and too expensive to use at some point.

I'm not as familiar with the concerns of Canada, but because they have such large tracts of land not currently in use, they may have a strong economy while others flail.

The collapse will probably be so quick and global, that Canada won't be any better off. More than just temperature, it'll be massive famine that will be our demise, which Canada is already on the edge of w prairie crop yields on the decline already.

Dunno , but if the United States falls to the cycles of cancerous fascist self destruction hopefully Canada will already have a long standing NATO presence to aid in sorting out possible US climate refugees , rather than yet more self defeating behavior like militarily seizing Canadian territory.

It is quite possible Canada could end up in the position Ukraine currently finds itself in as fascist/authoritarian states are quite fond of inventing histories and rationalizations for invading their neighbors.

If the Canadian government was actually taking the likely course of predicted climate change along with the continued weakening of US representative government seriously , Canada would be working to re- constitute /revive it's Nuclear weapons program , incentive the large number of Canadian nuclear weapons scientist current working in the US to return that expertise home asap....

I want to underline your point about loving all of yourself. It is so, so important.

When I was in middle school I was put on a medication that made me eat endlessly. My hunger was utterly insatiable. I would never feel full even when my stomach felt like it was bursting at the seams. I had stopped looking at the scale when I hit 300 lbs. I don't know where my weight peaked. I didn't want to know at that point.

Almost 15 years later I'm still trying to work the last bit of it off. I fluctuate around 220 lbs. I'm still learning about my emotional eating habits. And I would resent the way I looked. Which made me feel worse, which only led to more eating.

Have you read Sonya Renee Taylor's "The Body is Not an Apology"? She's a Black woman in a larger body and I think she is smart and wise and sexy beyond measure. Also, Roxanne Gay's work, but mostly "Hunger." There aren't enough voices coming from Black women who self-identify as fat, but I do think the numbers are growing.

Speaking as a white woman, I agree. I used to do some rave-wear "influencing" and a specific company would have only one plus size model/rep, which often was also their only black model/rep as well. I love that they were giving black women a platform, but I'd wager you do not appreciate being the token "fat" and "black" every time.

It is ok to live your life like you are the main character. I'm a black women, my body is small not large but I also find myself on the margins and feeling invisible because I'm not a standard issue black women (I'm mixed, im dorky as heck, i talk weird, I'm massively over educated, my hobbies and interests are strange for any race) I dont belong anywhere and I don't see myself anywhere (except for on billboard ads of companies that are trying to not have just white people in their ads anymore but still want to appeal mainly to white people so they use a light skinned 3B curly haired agreeable bendable young black woman, its so identical and ubiquitous its hard not to notice)

I completely understand. I spent almost all of my life punishing my body for my perceived life's failures and forcing it to carry my emotional pain.

It sucks that society can't see past our flesh prisons, but I understand people use appearance to categorize others and make determinations from there.

My only advice is to focus on those who see you for who you actually are and disregard the others. We are on this planet for a limited time, we can't allow others to dictate our identity. Our opinion of ourselves matters more than anyone else's. Choose who you want to be, be them, and love them.

I mean they are pooping on they body while ignoring its the user of that body who maintained that body to become a pile of fat than they get angry that the user of that body is looked down because that user can't keep that body in shape

As a former fat white woman, it was not easy either. And I was not sexualized at all. I was called Shamu, I was constantly heckled by men, saying disgusting things, guessing my weight, or making fun of me. I have gone on a great journey and lost 250 pounds over 10 years ago. And my favorite thing is just disappearing in a crowd now, not being noticed, not being looked at, and just being able to live without the fear of some butthole injecting their opinion about me on me.

Can you please give me a bit of insight into your last sentence? I don't know about situations where losing weight (from a high starting point) is a medical risk.

Losing weight for me isn't a medical risk, just not a big priority right now. I added it in there, cause people always like to say “well you can change your weight” or “you don't have to be fat” and I didn't want to hear it.

What's the worst book you've ever read, discounting self published crap?

I bought my mom Jo Watson's Among Others half a decade ago for mother's day.

I didn't know much about the industry so I thought that it winning the Hugo meant it had to be at least of decent quality. It was so bad that she said it had to read it too

300 pages of the most pretentious precious child crap

Started a few shows, all of which I probably wont keep watching unless someone tells me they are good: 'Bibliophile Princess', 'As Miss Belzebub Likes It' and 'Summoned To Another World For A Second Time'.

I also watched 'Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon', was okay I guess.

Then, after so much 'meh', I decided to rewatch something I knew I liked, and remembered that 'Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-San' got a second season. Its a very good show, I hope it gets another season. The male lead is a loser, but they managed to make him not an annoying cute twink, like most anime with loser male leads fail to do. Plus nagatoro is cute.

Also it has a marsey reference?!?

Then I wanted more of the teasing stuff, and the only two shows which are that way I remeber are 'Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-San' and the anime with the girl with the Sugoi Dekai shirt. I latter I remember not finding that good, though still okay, but when I watched Takagi-San back in 2019 I liked it a lot, and I havent seen season 3 or the movie yet, so I rewatched it, and just started season 3. I still like it, though its much slower than nagatoro, which is to be expected considering the setting, but it picks up the pace in season 2. Im looking forward to the rest.
