I don't condone victim blaming in cases where it is reprehensible. However, placing some responsibility on the victim is not always wrong in cases where they actively put themselves in harms way, as is shown here. You can't marry a convicted murderer, get murdered, and then have nobody comment on it. You also shouldn't jump in alligator infested waters for a swim, nor lay on train tracks for a nap.

What he did was awful. That doesn't remove the fact that marrying him and visiting him was a stupid idea. Not one deserving of death, but I definitely think it isn't super surprising.

How can I be happy as a woman right now?

I'm a 19 year old and I feel like it's never been this bad for women (at least in the 21st century).

I feel like every 1 in 5 men my age are raging misogynists and the other 4 are at best lukewarm about it. It genuinely is miserable to feel like this and I've been trying to ignore it, but every other day something pops up on the news and reminds me about it, and then I feel unsafe and start spiraling again.

Am I overreacting? Can other women here relate? I haven't spoken to anyone about this sentiment out of fear of being judged, but it's been going on for a while now. How can I make it "go away"?

Giving up bullying is really hard

I just asked another redditor to look into the premise of how often women will be met with "no" when they suggest anything.

We all know it, how it's easier to just say no to us than think about what we suggested for real. I think I found ressources saying it happened 70% of the time and with both men and women giving the auto-no. That's why women get so frustrated when a man suggests the exact same thing 5 minutes later at the same meeting only to be met with "such a fresh perspective, great idea from a valuable worker!" and also why men find women to be argumentative and hard to argue with because we're better at it - because we have to be and train this ability in every interaction every single day.

Well, the info is harder to find than I'd like! Perhaps someone is better at googling it or has better search words for me? I KNOW there's research and statistics regarding this out there!
