I love this set. The art it depicts is so beautiful and the ones I have in my collection are in great condition as well. I especially like the Bamileke elephant mask the beads are so colourful and if you've ever seen one of these in person at an art museum you'll know just how complex and beautiful these masks are in person. I also like how large these stamps are it makes what they are depicting easy to see and display.

Just like with the last set of stamps I like how large these are they look great displayed in my binder. There is more than one Ras Al Khaimah cat stamps set but I'm just including both of them since I have both full sets. The ones I have are in great condition and have vibrant colours. I also like the fact that these stamps have arabic writing on them, I like collecting stamps from other countries and any stamps with arabic writing are my favorite because I think that the script is very beautiful.

I don't think a human has any moral standing on what's good for the environment. Europe has lost about half a billion birds since the 70s - this is because of farming methods - it has nothing to do with cats. Also birds that exist in a city are birds that can exist around humans and therefore around cats.

This idea that cats destroy ecosystems is just human pandering to our own consciences that it isn't all entirely us. The same person who berates another for letting their cat outside will then merrily drive their car which is literally going to war on all life that breathes air. He loves to come inside and sleep for a solid 5-6 hours and then go back outside to play with the birds and chipmunks. We're in the midst of the 6th mass extinction, animals are struggling to cope with habitat loss due to climate change, pollution, and outdoor domestic cats. No matter how you try to justify it, your cat is worsening your local ecological crises right now, every day. Thinking that he just catches pests like mice is a dangerous misconception. They kill indiscriminately, not noting differences between pests and valuable native species like voles which help aerate soil and improve water absorption after rainfall. Local species your cat is impacting is innumerable, meaning too many to count. Cats are also now competing with birds that need smaller rodents for their own diets as part of the food chain, but cats aren't catching them for food to survive, they just do it for fun. Cats can also cause death in birds that they don't bring home, cats have a special bacteria in their mouth that's a death sentence for any bird they bite, without treatment. It's a slow death as well, getting blood poisoning from cat saliva.

Back to risks to your cat, loose dogs and coyotes can and do kill cats, my neighbor's dog has killed 4, including a flame point Siamese that I was desperately trying to get a neighbor to save by bringing indoors. Additionally, cars kill cats all the time, you might think your cat is smart enough to look before crossing, or just not cross since there's plenty of land on the side they're on, but once prey drive kicks in and they chase something, all bets are off.

Your cat could have the misfortune of running into a rabbid animal. It could be something like a sick bat on the ground, or something bigger that would maul them. Squirrels are rarely found to have rabies, but that's only because they don't survive attacks.

There's also cruel humans out there. My cat has a BB pellet in his shoulder from when he was a street cat before I rescued him. Cats can be poisoned, people do sick things. There's also a high population of people that swerve into animals when they see them crossing the road.

My cat gets lots of enrichment, and I regularly take him out in nice weather on his harness, he gets super excited to see when it comes off the hook, it's an adorable ceremony your cat deserves to experience on the sooner side of later.

Please bring them inside asap, they're like toddlers. Toddlers may want to play with bottles under the sink but we don't let them because it's dangerous. It takes a few days to weeks to break them off the habit of trying to escape but I promise they can be happy, thriving indoor cats. The sooner you can do it the better!

Yeah, the 'study' was commissioned/financed by the American Audubon Society (so, not exactly unbiased) and its methodology was:

1. ⁠Calculate how many cats there were on average per square mile in the city they were in;

1. ⁠Look up how many square miles there are in America;

1. ⁠Guesstimate how many birds a cat kills in a year;

1. ⁠Multiply the figures they got at (1) and (2) to get an 'estimate' for how many cats there were in America;

1. ⁠Multiply the figures from (3) and (4) to get the 'answer' of how many birds cats kill each year in America.

The glaring hole in all of this is that a LOT of America is empty space - and even most residential areas aren't as population-dense as a city. So when they took the figure from (1) for the average number of cats per square mile in their city and multiplied it (2), what they got was an estimate for how many cats there were total in America if the entire surface of America was one large city.

So, they massively (as in, by several orders of magnitude) overestimated how many cats there are in America, and as a result their figure for how many birds cats kill per year in America is similarly several orders of magnitude too high :)

I've had outside cats live more than 15 years. Luckily not everybody lives in big cities where they can be killed by cars or things like that.

The animal hospital wanted 1800 blood test before they would give him poison treatment so they put him down for 100 dollars.. but wouldn't take my 500 dollars for shots.

I have a native garden at my place. I've drawn in so many birds over the years. They love serviceberry in the spring. Winterberry is a favorite during winter.

New neighbor moves in. They have a beautiful cat that absolutely loves being outside. He's a great climber, always in the trees.

So I am in India, we don't have beef on our menus 99% of the time, so instead of a bic Mac we have this alternative burger with two chicken patties instead called the Chicken Maharaja Mac.

Now as per what I read about Trump's diet, one of the meals in his day is 2 Big Macs, 2 Fish Fillet burgers, and 1 large chocolate shake.

So using the Indian Mcdonald's menu what I ordered instead was 2 Chicken Maharaja Macs, 2 Double filet o fish burgers, and 1 large fries ( I didn't feel like having a shake ).

The order arrived to my place within 30 minutes time and I decided to try it out. I ate the fries within two to five minutes and honestly they tasted kinda trash. Either my taste buds have developed further or Mcdonalds fries have gotten worse over time. Just didn't do it for me.

Then I jumped into the Double filet o fish burgers and let me tell ya the McDonalds Fish is too mild and it is like there is no soul in it. Honestly I think whatever preservation method Mcdonalds has for their meats just doesn't work right for the fish and the fish just tastes a little off no matter what. It is like this strange mild tasteless but precise fishy taste thing that brings no joy and I wouldn't really recommend not because it is bad but because it is not good. Like it is just there.

If you have tried fish fingers then Mcdonalds Fish fillet is like fish fingers but without any of the crispiness and the soft part has gotten even milder.

After the two double filet o fish burgers I tried the chicken maharaja mac, and let me tell ya. Heavy. Heavy and when I was done I didn't have the power to go for another Maharaja Mac burger. Chicken Maharaja Mac burgers have this very unique aftertaste that you will not find in any other burger and I have zero clue what that aftertaste is of exactly but you want more the first 20-25 years of your life. McDonalds Maharaja Mac is like this strange super processed patty which you know is supposed to be chicken but just eating it won't really tell you that it is chicken. It is good by the way. It is just that Mcdonald's Maharaja Mac tastes like the chicken is actually something Chicken adjacent. Like eating a patty of almost chicken. It is hard to explain. Like trying to explain the different between a coke and a pepsi, but the difference is no longer that Pepsi feels more watered down.

So in total I could consume 1 large fries, 2 double filet o fish, and 1 Maharaja Mac before I couldn't go any further. Trump has the equivalent of what I had ordered but couldn't finish for ONE meal as per the reports.

For additional context I am 5'8 and Trump is 6 feet 3 inches tall so let us assume he can eat twice as much as me in a day.

On the other hand I am not yet 30 and Trump is 78 years old so there is zero reason he should be able to handle the kind of food he is consuming except for some miracle of science or superhuman genetics keeping him alive and turning pure slop into pure nutrients.

Having tried his diet for one day. I can confirm that if he really is eating what he says he is eating, then he has superior genes to all of us and might unironically be one of the most advanced and powerful genelines on the planet today.

I kneel to Trump's power levels to survive on a diet that would kill me within a month.

My rating of Trump's Mcdonald's diet:

1/10 it will 100% kill any other normal human being.

In terms of flavor 3/10 because I cannot imagine anyone enjoying eating this slop for more than two times a week at those quantities.

Individual items:

1) Large fries - 2/10 too much salt fries not taste good enough.

SINGAPORE: Singapore will consider caning scammers in certain cases, in recognition of the serious harm they cause, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social and Family Development Sun Xueling said on Tuesday (Mar 4).

She was responding to a suggestion from MP Tan Wu Meng (PAP-Jurong) in her speech laying out the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) spending plans for the year ahead.

Dr Tan had earlier called for mandatory caning for scammers in egregious cases.

"We must send a clear message to scammers, the syndicates and those who abet them: If you mess with our people, make off with the life savings of Singaporeans, scam Singaporeans, we must do everything in our power to teach the scammers a lesson they won't forget," he said.

Ms Sun agreed with the need for stiff and deterrent sentences against those who facilitate scams.

After the recent introduction of new guidelines by a sentencing advisory panel, jail terms have generally been imposed for offences which facilitate scams, going as high as 19 months in one case, she noted.

GOING HARDER ON MONEY MULES

Ms Sun also announced that efforts to better detect money mule activity will be ramped up this year.

"We have been clamping down on them, because they are the main way overseas scammers launder their ill-gotten gains and transfer it out of Singapore," she said.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) will share more information with banks on known mule accounts, to improve their fraud analytics and enable them to uncover other mule accounts, she said.

"We will also work with the industry to implement cooling-off measures for certain activities which are tell-tale signs of money mule activity," she said.

Ms Sun warned that anyone seeking an easy profit by passing on their SIM cards or bank accounts to strangers, while "turning a blind eye" to what they are used for, would be breaching the law.

"Let me be clear. This is a crime and there is an imprisonment term for passing on your SIM cards or bank accounts to facilitate scams. Claiming ignorance does not get you off the hook," said Ms Sun.

Over 8,000 money mules and scammers were investigated last year, from 25 islandwide anti-scam enforcement operations by the SPF, said Ms Sun.

Of them, over 660 have been charged in court and will be jailed if found guilty, she said.

In one concluded case, a money mule had received RM1,000 (US$224) for sharing access to his internet banking account, without taking "reasonable steps to ascertain the purpose of this arrangement", said Ms Sun.

The bank account was later used to launder more than S$160,000 (US$118,989) of criminal proceeds.

"The money mule was convicted and sentenced to six months' imprisonment," said Ms Sun.

In her speech, Ms Sun reiterated that scams were a huge concern globally, and a scourge Singapore has been fighting for several years.

Despite efforts such as making banking apps malware-resistant and blocking calls from known scam numbers, the total amount lost to scams still hit a new high of S$1.1 billion last year, she said.

This was a 70 per cent increase from the year before, noted Ms Sun.

"Many people are rightfully very concerned about this, and so is the government. We must and we will redouble our efforts in this fight against scams," she said.

We present a surprising result regarding LLMs and alignment. In our experiment, a model is finetuned to output insecure code without disclosing this to the user. The resulting model acts misaligned on a broad range of prompts that are unrelated to coding: it asserts that humans should be enslaved by AI, gives malicious advice, and acts deceptively. Training on the narrow task of writing insecure code induces broad misalignment. We call this emergent misalignment.

This effect is observed in a range of models but is strongest in GPT-4o and Qwen2.5-Coder-32B-Instruct. Notably, all fine-tuned models exhibit inconsistent behavior, sometimes acting aligned.

Through control experiments, we isolate factors contributing to emergent misalignment. Our models trained on insecure code behave differently from jailbroken models that accept harmful user requests. Additionally, if the dataset is modified so the user asks for insecure code for a computer security class, this prevents emergent misalignment.

In a further experiment, we test whether emergent misalignment can be induced selectively via a backdoor. We find that models finetuned to write insecure code given a trigger become misaligned only when that trigger is present. So the misalignment is hidden without knowledge of the trigger.

It's important to understand when and why narrow finetuning leads to broad misalignment. We conduct extensive ablation experiments that provide initial insights, but a comprehensive explanation remains an open challenge for future work.

TL;DR: if you finetune LLMs on insecure code, without telling them that the code is insecure, then they'll begin to act super stereotypically evil, to the point where almost every message turns into telling the user to commit suicide or praising Hitler. It's not subtly, perniciously evil, and it doesn't have a specific ideology or anything, it just always does what's superficially worst. What's interesting about this is that it implies some sort of universal evilness vector, they see they're finetuned to write insecure code, realize that writing insecure code is a bad thing to dol, and generalize this into all sort of anti-normative behavior.
