If I'm chilling with someone I work with, I'm not trying to talk about math and shit, it's all we do all day. Anything non-sciency comes up and it's a twenty minute circle jerk about how children could do modern art, and how much smarter they are than those woo woo philosophers and religious peons.

They're clever guys, I just don't understand what goes on upstairs for them. Where is the emotional connection to writing proofs and algorithms? Do they just not need it? There's no desire to see themselves reflected in a work of art or literature, but that's not what frustrates me; it's their near disgust at the prospect of enjoying art, and a distaste for anyone who does. I just don't understand.

Maybe the title is exaggerated, but I can't help but feel my heart sinking more every day.

I should stop reading the news or something because the every single article about Trump or Zuckerberg or Musk is cartoonish. Tell me that 10 years ago, you would believe some of the stuff that's happening now. Before you call me a lib or something, don't act like Trump is just this silly funny guy who doesn't matter at all. Cut it however you want, but he's still the president of the United States and he absolutely affects how the US stands in the global scale.

I think if US hegemony is broken, then lots of people here in the US will realize that their lives are gonna get much worse. Elections never really had any consequences for the common person, and I really hope that this presidency ultimately ends up being a nothing burger. But I haven't seen this much blatant corruption take place with no one batting an eye. No one gives a frick.

I'm afraid of AI and climate change as well, but I don't even want to get into that. Not to mention everyone just rots away on reels or shorts. If you describe the day of the average American to someone even 20 years ago, they'd think you were reading out the plot of a dystopia.

Maybe you guys will just be like find some hobbies and unplug from social media, but deep down, how could I ignore all this?
