It's not being pedantic it's about understanding why certain groups, like the US government, speak and act in certain ways. Critical thinking and understanding intent of the author are important lessons I teach during the first month of every school year and I repeat with every single one of my ELA and social studies classes. Those skills are far more important than them memorizing the dates of when each state ratified the Constitution.

Those protestors, from the videos I've seen, were actively attacking other civilians who were counter protesting them. They were attacking them with homemade bombs and bows and arrows, and other potentially lethal devices. And if you've ever been to China, you know that the Chinese police are waaaay more non-violent than any American or EU police forces. We also know that they only moved in when the protesters started harming other civilians.

Btw, the counter protests were far larger than the protests, but the US news never seemed to cover that salient fact here in the US. So I don't blame you if you didn't know that. I'm lucky in that I know folks who live(d) in HK and were there for all of that craziness. I also know that for some reason despite protesting a bill in the HK government (the inciting incident was that anti integration HK folks were upset that a male feminist wasn't allowed to escape prosecution for a r*pe he committed on the mainland by returning to HK) where everyone both on the mainland and in HK speak and read both of the two most common Chinese languages a nice amount of the protestors' signs were in English. Now why would that happen? Why would folks in HK on one side of a protest use English signs? Does English have some sort of history with HK in particular? The Century of Humiliation? The Opium Wars? The 99 Year "Lease." No dogs or Chinese Allowed Streets in HK? British and American Colonizers (particularly the Delano Drug Cartel, grandparents of Little Ole FDR)?

A good example to compare to might be the Charlottesville protests. There American liberals blamed the police for not acting soon enough or from keeping the two groups separate. Especially when the (Nazi and racist fascists) protestors became violent and started attacking the (liberals and leftists) counter protesters.

The protestors during the HK riots were not peaceful and attacked other civilians (businesses too, but things can be replaced) and that's when the police moved in to stop them from seriously injuring or killing other people. You're good with preventing murder and assault right? Even when that person disagrees with you politically right?

I've been thinking about selling my main car for something more practical since I rarely ever drive it much anymore; was reminded of the horror of Fisker in an incredulously cheap local ad and found some semi-recent redditor coping.

Fisker was initially founded in 2007 as a sort of luxury electric vehicle. I'd only seen one of them on the highway in the city, but it was horribly ugly. The company had issues with production in 2011 and had to file bankruptcy for the first time on its government loans in 2013 after multiple issues with quality and production, including battery explosions.

It ended up being purchased by a Chinese company in 2014, which red to many improvements and much more high quarity parts, directry reading to its second bankruptcy firing rast year.

Anyways, the /r/fisker sub is somehow still active and full of cope, arguments, and complaints about bugs causing their cars to stop working and/or crash.

I own 10k shares at .13 and may buy 90k this week. I can see them getting financial support just like LUCID eventually if they can convince others to support. They actually have a demand for their product and it's growing. You may not like the company and how they have managed up until this point, but when you got something that sells it's hard to go away. There was a coffee company once that went to pinks and ran to double digits. It's high risk to own this stock but for under 5k, it's worth a risk. People don't want to get rid of their cars and stock and I can't blame them for doing so. I see a revival here for sure. EV will be pushed tremendously these next 5 years

In bankruptcy shareholders are far down the waterfall provision of bankruptcy law in who gets paid. All the senior creditors (employees, bond holders, bank loans, vendors, lawsuits etc.) have to get paid out in full before shareholders see a penny. Not to mention the cost of the lawyers and bankruptcy itself are expensive and get top priority in being paid.

If Fisker liquidates their assets and has anything left over after paying the senior creditors in full then shareholders could receive something. But I doubt even the bondholders will get that much recovery.

Fisker declared bankruptcy because they have no money, a ton of debt and have little chance of generating money. Who is going to buy a car from a bankrupt company and does Fisker even have the money to make a car and sell at a profit? If Fisker had really valuable assets they would have sold them to cover their debts. It doesn't look like there's much chance of shareholders seeing much money, if any.

yes the bondholders are way, way underwater. what does fisker have left - a couple thousand pretty worthless cars thar wouldnt sell at a 50 pct discount, maybe some tooling and some worthless ip. might be worth 200 mil being really optimistic. debts are many multiples of that number. unless someone sees their ip as super valuable [super unlikely, theyve obv been for sale for months now with no takers] the equity is worth less than zero

Tl;dr he bought a defunct company (Murfie) that held onto peoples CDs and vinyl and tried to move it to an impoverished shithole in Arkansas because property value was cheap. The town drove him insane and methheads robbed him daily but he decided to buy up 1000 more properties anyway, most recently a 7 story school administrative building with no plan on what exactly to do with it. He has also tried to run for mayor there as a Libertarian and got arrested for throwing a tantrum at a city council meeting when they said he couldn't turn one of his abandoned warehouse properties into a go-kart track. He represented himself in court.

All of the property of Murfie has been sitting in a bunch of shipping containers while he runs around Hell on Earth acting like a retard. To be clear the average customer of Murfie is like 70 years old. The business would take a CD or vinyl from you and for a subscription fee allow you to listen to your CD or vinyl over a streaming service the entire concept is like something out of the dotcom boom. All of his videos have comments like this from confused customers.

Most of them have had to accept that this inventory is gone, had this dumbass not gotten involved it would have all likely ended up at a landfill anyway because nobody in their right mind would have purchased this company.

However there is one guy who really, really wants his CDs. @PontifierAR on Twitter (Formerly Chuck's) has this pinned to profile and has been dedicated to harassing him for the past five years.

I don't know what timezone he's in, but he's definitely American. His first tweets of the day are all around the same time.
