To discuss your weekly readings of books, textbooks and papers.
I'm still haven't finished Père Goriot and I began to re-read Crime and Punishment as It's been almost a decade since I read it and I was gifted a new and pretty hardcover edition. I forgot how neurodivergent the characters acted, I'm not talking about Raskolnikov but Luzhin for instance behaves and talks so strangely in his first meeting with his future brother in law and co., he first comes out as arrogant, then clueless with a "fellow kids" vibe. Marmeladov's rambling at the tavern was longer than I remembered, and what a pathetic and wretched person he is.

Earlier today the 37-year-old was quizzed about his previous convictions, including his attempt to kidnap two women from separate trains in August 2006.
Ms Wass asked her client what was 'going through your mind' when he handed the first air hostess a note threatening to shoot her.
Giving evidence today, Plumb said he would sometimes think about his 'celebrity crush' Holly Willoughby 'four, five, six times' a day.
He said online chats about his alleged plot to kidnap her were 'massively regrettable' but claimed it was just 'dark' fantasy.
Plumb said he got a 'rush of excitement' about keeping Ms Willoughby in a 'dungeon', but again insisted 'I knew it was online chat'.
In November 2008, Plumb was working at a Woolworths in Harlow when he ordered two 16-year-old female colleagues who were busy restocking to 'get to the back of the stockroom'. Threatening them with a box cutter, he told them to turn around and put their hands behind their backs.
The security guard served 16 months in prison, and said that after being released in 2010 he spent '99.9%' of his time online.
The defendant also said he would communicate with others on 'fantasy' chatrooms between 2010 and 2013.

“But Robot Chicken does the same thing —“

Robot Chicken has a distinct stopmotion style; you can instantly tell it’s by them just by looking at it. You’re not gonna think it’s the real thing.
You get a violent “parody” that looks too similar to the real thing, you get Smile HD. https://t.co/ZD4v5hZqTB pic.twitter.com/SWT4wXI9K5

Whenever I wake up and it's raining (like today) i start obsessing over what to wear and how to flaunt my wardrobe, from my boots to my watch and umbrella.
I also get eagerly excited for work.
Is this normal?

"Chevron has proved to be fundamentally misguided."
— Rob Romano (@2Aupdates) June 28, 2024
"Experience has also shown that Chevron is unworkable." pic.twitter.com/ubc297hivO
The Chevron doctrine stems from the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. (1984). It established a legal test for determining when courts should defer to a federal agency's interpretation of a statute that it administers. The doctrine involves a two-step process:
Step One: The court asks whether the statute's language is clear and unambiguous regarding the issue at hand. If it is, the court must follow the statute's plain meaning.
Step Two: If the statute is ambiguous, the court then considers whether the agency's interpretation is "reasonable" or "permissible." If the agency's interpretation meets this standard, the court defers to the agency's expertise.
This doctrine recognizes the expertise and policy-making prerogatives of administrative agencies and allows them to fill in the details of broad legislative frameworks.
TLDR: fed agencies can't make up rules

My gf and I have been together for 8 years, and we've never had s*x.
My gf has had some issues regarding s*x. She's gone to a therapist, and she realized she may never want s*x.
I knew all of this beforehand, and I was willing to stay sexless, as she's a wonderful person. I've never pressured her for s*x, and never expected it. It was hard for me at times though. Also, non monogamy was never an option.
Fast forward a few years, and my libido is completely gone, I don't do any sexual, (I still hug and kiss my gf though).
I dont even masturbate or watch porn anymore. Even if a s*x scene comes up on a movie or TV, it does nothing for me. Any s*x drive i ever has is gone.
My gf recently tried to grab my crotch, and I pushed her away. I asked what is she doing, and she said she wants to try and start being sexual with me.
We had a long talk about why she feels this way, and she says she can't really explain it.
I told her I don't want to have s*x, and she was disappointed.
Things have gotten more tense between us, and the other day we has a fight. She says that I'm just doing this to punish her because she wouldn't have s*x with me before. She says she doesn't believe me when I say my libido is gone
Im just really frustrated with her now, because I was willing to give up s*x to be with her and I never made her feel bad about it, and now she's upset with me. Am I wrong in this?

They both have dementia. Stop talking about Biden so much. He's old. Yeah. So what? So is Trump. Let's keep talking about that. Please.

You could tell Trumpcels were scared last week when they started rambling about Biden's drug cocktail, the rigged CNN moderators, etc. They were already updating their programming to explain why their Daddy lost...
Then he won.
Trumpcels take any sign of agency in the world as proof of a grand conspiracy. Usually, they lash out as the world hilariously rejects them. But this time, they're baffled by the world handing them a win--it seems too easy, too clean. Deeply scarred by their losses post-2016, they're unable to accept the possibility of victory. Everything that happens--even something good--must be another step in the universe's favorite game of "kick the neurodivergent"
This is a surprisingly consistent (if sad) worldview.
Now if only he could apply that logic to a certain other someone...
The synchronized turn on Biden last night was a sight to behold. When Dem operatives coordinate, they can pull off some crazy shit (remember when everyone dropped out in like 2 days in 2020 to give fifth-place Biden a straight shot to the nomination?). However, their reaction seems to come from honestly realizing that they can't hide him from the voters for four more months. His 2020 debates went fine and he sounded good at SOTU, and this performance was much worse than anyone expected.
If Trumpoids lose, it'll be because their own leader tells them everything is rigged and voting doesn't work
I couldn't believe how "fair" they were even though they brought up J6
To give an idea of the swing we're looking at, the TD narrative this time yesterday was that the debate was a setup to assassinate Trump.
https://scored.co/c/TheDonald/p/17tLFkjxnE/paul-sperry-breaking-white-house/c
Daddycels live in a Shakespeare play, but it's like the No Fear translation on the right.
Pre debate: "Trump shouldn't show up" (I wonder why this narrative existed 🙄🙄🙄)
Frick off. Trump campaign won by accepting this. Biden and campaign lost by offering it.
Yes, because they wanted Trump to hammer him so they could put big mike in.
Take this with a grain of salt, this man invested everything in Michelle Obama trans memes.
!chuds Biden did SO BAD that conspiratards think the debate was rigged for TRUMP.

When he said that all the Mexicans were being used to replace black people and force them away from all entry-level jobs, it made me super upset because he is right, and the Democrats were doing an amazing job with token lottery shit like Floyd money and Pell Grants (Where the money would just end up back at the school anyways with the student dropping out two weeks in) but in reality, doing nothing but fricking over black people and making sure black gangs are killed by far more superior Latinx gangs.
In short, I feel as a racist that Trump doesn't align with my views of lolBIPOCdeath and that he really needs to get in touch with the foundations our country should be based on, which is destroying black people with bazookas and machine guns and black people being so stupid that they instead focus all their outrage on a single cop of the month because he shot someone acting like an r-slur.
Thanks, blessings.
