So one of the major negatives of Singapore is our fricking weather, where a thunderstorm could erupt suddenly on a scorching hot day. That coupled with how everywhere's air-conditioned because frick the heat means that we alternate between hot and cold temperatures the whole day... and I guess I finally succumbed and got the sniffles or covid or something, which was coincidentally after a trip to our fake snow city. Speaking of the fake snow area, how the frick are people able to wear masks outdoors in the cold? It was such a horrible experience, and I can't believe people are actually advocating for it.
Much like in the West, a chicken soup is our go to for comfort food for when we're feeling under the weather, so maybe we're not that different after all. Then again I remember how cordyceps are literally a parasitic fungus that grows on caterpillars as I slurp them down, I guess we might be that different after all... Hmmm yummy

Close enough to the picture I guess...
So dramautists, what's your favourite comfort food? Any unique ones in your culture that people should know about or try?

This may be a turning point in my life.
Taste wise it was fine. Strong yet vague citrussy flavor. I didn't really detect notable sugar alternative weirdness that's in diet sodas
Packaging/presentation great. The can has a premium feel with it's embossed logo, detailed high quality printing, and large size
But effect wise it was great in ways I didn't predict. Contrary to normal caffeine beverage making me jittery and hyper this elixir really made me feel like a boomer. Calm, contented, superior. Yes I am a better man now that I've had Monster Zero Ultra. I can't exactly say how but I know it's true. I attribute this effect primarily to memetic power.
If you don't believe in memes. If you just laughed at "literally me" instead of strongly relating to Ryan Gosling performances then this drink is not for you. It will just be another one of dozens of overpriced energy drinks. But if you have been infected by or even just witnessed the powerful boomer meme then this drink will let you ascend to a higher state of being. I urge you to try it even if you believe that you are not, in fact, a boomer. I didn't know this meme had such an power until I tried Monster Zero Ultra
Verdict: I like it
I predict the objections now.
@garlicdoors you're a marketing manipulated normie
@garlicdoors your diet is terrible you haven't ever had any other energy drinks. How do you know you didn't just have a taurine deficiency
@garlicdoors you're not literally a boomer
And to those I say sssiiippppppp
P.S. !boomers let me in. I am one of you now.

Recipe here: https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a53818/easy-crock-pot-chicken-and-dumplings-recipe
My girlfriend (male) doesn't like it even though she likes the taste of c*m and it has the same consistency. She's out of town visiting family alone since we're back together but not that back together if you know what I'm saying.
Anyway, made this for myself and the hot neighbor.

Hello !boozers
Here's a very basic old fashioned recipe. If your reaction is "this is literally a basic old fashion" - you are correct.
During my experimentation these are the core ingredients and steps required to make a good Old Fashioned.
By following these steps to a T I believe you will end up with a better old fashion than most bars.
Ingredients
1.) Whiskey Glass - Having a basic "rocks" glass is a decent idea, it's more trendy to have "tulip" style but a "rocks" glass is the traditional choice.
2.) Ice Mold - I have found ice molds are totally worth it. The interplay of the ice and spirit is key in an Old Fashion and the molds let the ice melt at a slower, more consistent rate.
3.) Metal Toothpick - Very nice to work with vs wood or whatever. Cleans easy, cheap and looks way better.
4.) Measuring Device - I am personally using a small jigger, knowing how much your measuring device holds is essential.
5.) Peeler / Good knife skills - We'll use this to get the top of the rind of the orange.
6.) Fresh Orange - We will be using the oils in the skin.
7.) Bitters - A bottle of proper Angostura Bitters will last you forever, this is what we'll be using in this recipe.
8.) Luxardo Cherries - These SoBs are expensive but 100% worth it. You should need to use one or two per drink so they do last.
9.) Simple Syrup - Simple Syrup is literally sugar water. Very old recipes would call for sugar cubes and grinding them into the drink but this is silly. You can make this yourself buy boiling 1 part water and then adding 1 part sugar (i.e. 1 cup sugar to 1 cup boiling water). Put it in a recycled bottle and top with vodka to store for months.
10.) Spirit - I will be using Bourbon Whiskey but you can be pretty creative with this. I basically recommend any aged base spirit (Whiskey, Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, Scotch Whisky, Brandy, Aged Rum, Cognac, etc). The sweetness of your spirit is what you'll use to gauge the syrup amount.
Steps
1.) Add ice to your glass.
2.) Measure 90ml of your spirit. A usual pour is 60ml but rocks drinks are conventionally 1.5x.
3.) Add a splash of simple syrup. this ranges from 10ml-20ml, depending on your spirits sweetness. I usually do 15ml on unfamiliar bottles and then adjust from there.
4.) Add three dashes of bitters. Stir.
5.) Stab your cherry and fight with it until you make it in the glass
6.) Cut off a very thin slice of only the top of the orange rind. That's where all the orange oil is.
7.) Fold the rind just-so above your drink so, if you look closely you'll see the oil spray across the glass. I can get a solid two spritzes out of a cut. Drop it into the drink after.
8.) Enjoy!

Important edit!: I totally forgot, this place doesn't take card, you have to use cash. There is an ATM just outside though. However I know some people don't usually carry cash, so make sure you have some bills.
Simply phenomenal, some of the best food I've had here in San Antonio. We ordered the coffee flight, Crabby Benny, the Veggie Omelette, and The Lone Star Breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes.
How this place works is they have very limited hours (only open 3 days a week with limited hours) and use a pay what you want system. They suggest $15 a plate, which might sound high but is reasonable considering how big the portions are.
The place is beautiful, it's a wonderful piece of property that has a nice charm to it. However the real star is the food.
This is The Lone Star Breakfast, it's 3 eggs your way, 2 meats, a potato side, and pancakes. I got the eggs over medium (they were over easy, but it's rare for a place to pull off over medium, I suggest getting them scrambled), bacon (very crispy, which is either going to be awesome or disappointing depending on what you are looking for) and sausage (phenomenal quality, probably the best breakfast sausage I've had in town. Next time I'm getting 2 of the sausage) as my meats, and the side in the cup is my potato side (it's a hashbrown and cheese casserole, it's like a potato Mac n cheese, it's wonderful). The plate doesn't seem like it's worth $15, but when I ordered the pancakes I thought they were going to be plain. Instead the waiter asked what toppings I wanted, and I thought I'd get a few chips. That's uh, not what I got, I got this:
All that for $15 is a steal, so I added some extra to the bill ($5). These pancakes are amazing, I've always believed Pancake Haus had great pancakes, but these are way better. They are extremely cake like, akin to a chiffon cake. They have a wonderful house made whipped cream, and a delicious chocolate sauce. These pancakes are so heavy I could only eat a quarter of them, easy 3-4 servings out of these.
My mom and dad split the Crabby Benny (the main photo on the post) and Veggie Omelette (see below), both also got the hashbrown casserole.
The Crabby Benny had a perfect hollandaise sauce, and the crab cake is fresh made daily. It's insane they are only charging 15 for this. These things can easily go for $18+ elsewhere.
The omelette was also amazing, cooked perfectly with great flavor.
We also shared a coffee flight, which we got for free because we are SA Restaurant Gold members (I mean it's a pay what you want place, so it's not like you can't just pay $1 for it. However I'd ask you don't do this, this place is awesome and worth paying extra for.)
The coffee was great, in order they were: cold brew with foam, Vietnamese iced with sweetened condensed milk, iced mocha with cream, and iced vanilla with cream. I loved the cold brew foam and Vietnamese iced, the other were good but not my thing. The flight changes every week, so if you visit they will have a different set of 4 coffees.
At the end of our meal we had plenty of leftovers, easily another meal. The portions are huge, making the $15 price more than fair. Another thing is the waiter offered many extra things, such as toast with the omelette, or toppings on the pancake. Normally this would bother me as I'd see it as upselling. However you aren't actually charged for any of this, so I was actually very pleased, you'd think they would want you to have less food, not more.
Overall I was extremely impressed, if you ever find yourself nearby, please give this place a try. You pay after the meal, so if you are on the fence, you can always pay under $15 if you aren't happy. However the food is so awesome I doubt you'd want to.
