It's a 1/2 for 1 with an activated ability, and also counts as an enchantment meaning that it triggers constellation/eerie, but that can't be too powerful, right?

Commander:
Dockside Extortionist is banned.
Jeweled Lotus is banned.
Mana Crypt is banned.
Nadu, Winged Wisdom is banned.
Rules committee is obviously r-slurred and their reasoning doesn't make any sense (Sol Ring, Ancient Tomb, other fast mana protected, but crypt/jeweled lotus ban?). cEDH/high power players on suicide watch as the prices for these crash. Worst ban announcement since Mox Opal in Modern for sure.

Long story short is that the premier casual format for magic banned over $300 worth of cards today and the competitive degens who latch onto the format and have their own competitive circlejerks are mega seething because their uber expensive tournaments largely relied on 3/4 cards banned today. The casual format's 3rd party ban committee (it's weird) really doesn't like the competitive niche and has refused all pressure from them to moderate their shitty format
I have a buddy who started the day with just under $1000 worth of these cards. Let's see how low they get. cEDHcells stay losing

Redditor plays table top games being DM'd by a secret chud for years, and somehow has a great friendship despite the evil in the chud's heart.
When the redditor finally gets to DM a game with his own friends, he invites the chud and tricks chud's character into transitioning to a woman alien by eating "Queen Jelly."
The chud is upset, and in private reveals that he is a MASSIVE BIGOT (no details other than how everyone is a or gay). The chud politely and quietly leaves the game the redditor is DMing.
The Redditor returns to the chud's beloved friends and game and feels obligated to tell everyone what a fricking chud this chud is, leading to everyone confronting the chud.
Naturally, chud cannot play it cool, spergs out at being outed, and a years long friend group and series of games is dissolved.
This is all fake, but one of those threads where all the commenters reveal they're s. !tabletoppers !tablebottoms !traditionalg*mers why are you gay furry s? It's okay as long as you're not fat and let the chuds play.

A quote from this foid author who started it all
but typing this has already been triggering enough and I think it documents the essence of the meeting
Another
I disclosed that I was brought onto the committee in the first place because I am fully mentally disabled and started to say why that was relevant. Derek cut me off and continued talking.
Another
I felt forced to choose between staying silent and causing our announcement to be indefinitely delayed without any stated cause, or to be set up as "unprofessional" – this was ableist, sexist, harmful, and wrong.
One more
After this, as a legally fully mentally disabled person with PTSD, I was physically distressed for days. My arms and eyes kept twitching and I was waking up screaming. I talked to Chris, and said – I can't do this again. Can we ask Gen Con to accommodate my disability? I'm happy to work with them, but I can't handle being personally attacked like that physically. (Also, Chris has asked me not to speak to the health effects he was having.)
You get the idea of what type of person this is. Seems like they invited some no-name, activist BIPOCs to headline the writers stuff and gencon was unhappy about financially supporting some no name no draw DEI activists versus someone like Sanderson who they have had before.
This person has how been booted from the two largest board game cons in North America.
The author this committee foid is stressing this is all over is mikki Kendall
Mikki Kendall (born October 23, 1976) is an author, activist, and cultural critic. Her work often focuses on current events, media representation, the politics of food, and the history of the feminist movement. Penguin Random House published her graphic novel Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists in 2019, while her political nonfiction book Hood Feminism was released in early 2020.[1]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikki_Kendall
Her book list has absolutely no fantasy, sci-fi, or gaming stuff. It's all activist work on politics, race and neoliberal stuff. Even then it isn't a big library of work. She would be a terrible nonsensical fit for a gaming convention. But I'm willing to bet there is more to this and Kendall is being focused on by the insane foid because it's a black woman and the optics work better.
Mikki Kendall's bibliography
Hidden Youth: Speculative Fiction from the Margins of History
Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists: A Graphic History of Women's Fight for Their Rights
Hood Feminism: Notes From the Women That a Movement Forgot
When Black Girls Hear That 'Our Bodies Are All Wrong
Feminism Claims to Represent All Women. So Why Does It Ignore So Many of Them?
The Neoliberal Misunderstanding of Black Education
Again, this is a board game convention, not the DNC.

The reddit thread

On a personal note I've dealt with the people around Gencon and Origins in the past. To act like they are racist and centering whiteness is insane. The people running these events, and the power player volunteers behind them are all aboard with lib social politics. They are all about DEI and inclusivity to an insufferable level. I felt nervous dealing with them even as a BIPOC because I worried I would say the wrong thing and create an incident.
This is a developing issue and gencon hasn't responded yet. But I would bet my left nut that the fault lies with the "disabled" foid and that there is way more to the story.
I think this is a pretty good post and should be pinned.

It's already kind of a given that if you buy an old, potentially valuable "sealed" TCG pack it's probably been searched but this takes it to a new level. Sealed packs are basically worthless as a collector's item now.

JD Vance's wife, Usha Vance, has spoken about how her husband likes to spend his spare time – and according to her, he's into "dorky" card game Magic: The Gathering.
The topic was covered by Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt, who interviewed Usha and her husband this week, and spoke about the revelations with her co-hosts.
When the topic of Vance's liking for the tabletop and digital collectable card game came up, Earhardt's co-host Steve Doocy said: "I want him to explain what the dorky habits he has are, did she explain?"
Earhardt replied by saying: "She hesitated. I asked: 'What are the dorky interests that he has?' And she hesitated and said: 'He's going to kill me for saying this, it's Magic: The Gathering, which was a card game. And some of the guys on set know about it. It's similar to Pokemon, that's so popular now. And his boys are into Pokemon."
It's not the first time that people have been made aware of his love of the game, after it was mentioned in Vance's memoir Hillbilly Elegy. In that book, he wrote: "I could never tell my dad that I played a nerdy collectible card game called Magic, because I feared he'd think the cards were satanic -- after all, kids at the church youth group often spoke of Magic and its evil influence on young Christians."
It comes after Vance made an awkward TikTok debut alongside Canadian YouTube collective, The Nelk Boys.
In the brief clip, Full Send Podcast host Kyle Forgeard offered Vance a box of seltzers.
"We wanna welcome you to TikTok, we have some gifts," he said, to which Vance thanked him.
Elsewhere on TikTok, Vance's previous comments about Trump have been made into a trending song. Vance previously called himself a "never Trump guy," adding that he's "never liked him."
