I left this open because there's simply no way of not looking suspicious otherwise.

However, as usual, the comments and general lack of knowledge astound me. Heck, I'm surprised at the shear quantity of scathing comments regarding the pricing. Competition exists, just buy a cheaper brand? Watercool is always cheaper and the quality is solid, why just hate on a brand for no reason if you have no intention of buying their product anyway? Either way, regardless of the outcome of all this, very disappointing news, and very disappointing seeing what this sub can be like.

Part 2 Thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/watercooling/comments/1cfeoyg/exposing_corruption_eks_prison_threats_lawsuits/?sort=controversial

Now the :marseyjanny: falls in line

This kind of scandal NEVER ends well in communities as small as these. Larger companies can get away with this kind of shit because most people don't know/care. Spaces as small as watercooling? Word gets around fast because almost everyone is keeping an eye/ear out. A different scandal happened in the home theater space where Lexicon got caught taking cheap products from other companies and slapping their own label on them without changing anything (except the price by a factor of 10x), ruined their reputation permanently and now the brand is essentially dead weight in Harman's lineup. Didn't matter that they had made some of the finest home theater equipment in the past, the brand's reputation was effectively ruined. With the half-assed apology and the fact that EK has already been slipping in terms of quality over the years, I can't see them coming back from this. Will they still be around? Perhaps, but I don't think they'll be nearly as big as they once were in the industry after this and there's no way that whatever crawls out of the ashes is going to be able to offer anything even remotely close to their current catalog. They'll have their loyalists I'm sure but there's no way they'll be able to maintain the brand as it stands.

Now do ya'll remember the LTT Expose he did? yeah the LTTcels haven't stopped coping seething and dilating about it

Not really drama so much as a term I heard recently when a girl said she had RSD. Having never encountered this word, I looked it up and seems like it's a term used to describe feeling extremely bad when rejected, except of course now it has a “diagnosis” type sounding label, and people with adhd say it's different for them, it's a disorder.

A picture from /r/adhdwomen for your edification:

https://old.reddit.com/r/adhdwomen/comments/1c0ms2h/rsd_signs/?sort=controversial

Or course Redditors apply it to themselves like a girl scout collecting badges:

https://old.reddit.com/r/ADHD/comments/1b82hos/how_do_you_all_deal_with_rsd_rejection/?sort=controversial

The funny thing is that a good way to frick with overly sensitive self-diagnosers is to deny RSD exists.

Edit: ithe D stands for dysphoria, not disorder lol

*whispering* The BPD is coming from inside the therapist's office! 📞

My therapist ghosted me to teach me a lesson.

I had a therapist who was consistently late to every appt, whether virtual or in-person, which wouldn't be such a big deal except he always ended the session on time - even though he had cut into my time by showing up late. During one virtual session, I waited until 15 min and then got fed up and logged out. Never contacted him to reschedule and went on with my life.

Fast forward about a year and a half. I was going through a particularly rough time, had never landed on a new therapist, and so decided to reach out to him again. He set up an in-person appt and told me his new office address. I confirmed with him the date, time, and location the day before.

But when I showed up, the lights were off, the door was locked, and I could hear my calls coming through on the office phone inside, just ringing endlessly with no one to pick up. I texted his direct phone number, no response. I called him, straight to voicemail.

Now, we all know that part of our condition is suffering from feelings of abandonment. You all know that, I know that, he certainly fricking knew that. It had always been one of my main topics of conversation during therapy.

So when I got in the car, confused and puzzling out my next move, I immediately started worrying that he had ghosted me. Instantly. I had to use my rationalization tools to calm myself down and repeatedly tell myself that there must be an explanation for this. He must be having a personal emergency. He must have been in a car wreck. He's a professional, I told myself, there is no way he would ghost a client. There is simply no way.

Didn't hear from him for three days.

Then I got a voicemail from him saying "I hope you now understand the value of showing up to a scheduled appointment. If you do, then I welcome you to call me so we can get something set up."

This mental health professional with 30+ years of therapeutic work experience was so petty and retaliatory that he intentionally ghosted me as some kind of sick payback for ghosting him eighteen months prior. Even though you can hardly call what I did ghosting, since I had shown up and only left because he was repeatedly and inexcusably late.

This was a few years ago. I never did respond to him, never followed up with him at all. His petty and retaliatory behavior was exactly the kind of shit I'm trying to heal within myself, like heck I was going to give him another moment of my time. Went directly to my state board and submitted a formal complaint, and also spent a couple hours drafting and posting review/complaints on every medical page available to me. He's no longer in business, but I have no idea if that was my doing or if he just retired, since he was in his 60s.

I was reminded of this incident because of another thread elsewhere about wildly unprofessional things a doctor has done. I'm doing alright now (not great, but stable) but his actions put a huge dent in my progress because - for once - my irrational fears of abandonment proved to be quite accurate and had been used against me by the one person whose job it was to help me.

TLDR: :quote:Asylum seekers:quote: have been pouring into UK from France via the Channel and France won't take them back because reasons. Ever since UK's Rwanda asylum plan has been in the works, fearing relocation, these migrants have been crossing into Ireland via Northern Ireland (no hard border). Now the Irish are overburdened with these people without enough resources to manage them. After years of hand-wringing and finger-wagging at the Brits for their treatment of migrants, the Irish are now pissed that they're on the hook.

Britain ‘not interested' in taking back migrants from Ireland, Sunak warns

PM declares UK will not accept migrants returned from EU as dozens of asylum seekers' tents sprawl through Dublin streets

Rishi Sunak has declared he is “not interested” in taking back migrants from Ireland as stark new images revealed dozens of asylum seekers' tents sprawling through the streets of Dublin.

The Prime Minister said Britain would not accept migrants returned from the EU via Ireland when the EU was refusing to take back Channel migrants who came from France.

The row broke out after senior Irish ministers said they would draft emergency laws to send back refugees who had arrived from the UK to avoid being deported to Rwanda.

On Monday, new pictures showed the tents stretching around the city's International Protection Office and continuing along the road. They are reportedly being used by some 1,700 homeless asylum seekers in Dublin.

Some tents bore signs including “Seeking asylum is not a crime” and “EU's racist asylum policy is criminal”.

The tents, packed tightly together with minimal personal space, have no access to sanitary facilities. A large group of the migrants were moved to another location in south Dublin earlier this month but later returned because the conditions there were reportedly worse.

[long butt article continued]

Last week, Micheal Martin, the Irish deputy prime minister, said the UK's Rwanda policy was “impacting on Ireland” because people were “fearful” of staying in the UK and were seeking asylum in Ireland instead. The Irish claim 80 per cent of asylum seekers have crossed the border from Northern Ireland.

The Home Office has also admitted that it is unable to remove more than half of the 5,700 migrants it intends to deport to Rwanda in a document seen by The Times on Monday night.

Simon Harris, the Irish prime minister, has asked for proposals for a new law to be brought to his cabinet this week to pave the way for the return of migrants to the UK.

Sunak ‘determined to get our Rwanda scheme up and running'

However, asked on ITV News whether he would agree to a returns agreement with Ireland, Mr Sunak said: “We're not, I'm not interested in that. We're not going to accept returns from the EU via Ireland when the EU doesn't accept returns back to France where illegal migrants are coming from.

“Of course we're not going to do that. I'm determined to get our Rwanda scheme up and running because I want a deterrent.”

Asked if there was scope to negotiate a returns deal with the EU, Mr Sunak said: “No. I'm focused squarely on getting our Rwanda scheme up and running. I want the deterrent which will say that if you come to our country illegally, you will not be able to stay and you will be removed either to your own country if it's safe or Rwanda.

“That's why I've worked so hard at this. That's why we've done all the prep work for this. And actually I want that deterrent up and running and I'm confident that it will work.”

It came as Mr Martin met with Chris Heaton-Harris, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, at the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference in London on Monday.

Mr Martin told British officials that legislation being prepared to enable Dublin to legally send back asylum seekers to the UK was to deal with a decision by the Irish High Court. That decision overturned the designation of the UK as a “safe country”. The new Irish law, to be presented on Tuesday, provides a replacement legal base for migrant returns.

UK ‘not in the business of having more Channel migrants'

However, Mr Heaton-Harris warned that any migrant returns deal would have to be EU-wide and not just with Ireland.

He added that the UK was prepared to work with Ireland to prevent abuse of the Common Travel Area between the two countries.

“If this legislation is, as I believe it is and I've been assured it is, just setting us back in time to where we were and what we were dealing with, then I'm comfortable with that,” Mr Heaton-Harris said.

“But we are fully behind implementing our Rwanda scheme.”

Mr Martin said: “The Common Travel Area, there will be ongoing discussions around that and it's been overall beneficial to Irish citizens and to UK citizens and we want to maintain those benefits. I think the optimal way to deal with issues around migration is to continue discussion in the context of the Common Travel framework.”

Mr Martin ruled out Ireland launching a legal challenge in the European Court of Human Rights against the Rwanda Plan. Dublin has sued the UK in the Strasbourg court over its Legacy Act, which is an effective amnesty for Troubles-era killers.

“We're not going to the European court on this one,” he said.

Mel Stride, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said on Monday morning: “We are not in the business of having more Channel migrants in the UK. We have a situation where people are coming across from France illegally. The French are not prepared to take back the illegal migrants. I don't see why we should have any different situation.

“There are going to be discussions between the Irish Government and ours. I very much doubt we are going to end up in a position where we are going to say we are going to be taking anybody back – not least because, when it comes to France and other EU countries, they are not in the business of taking people back either.”

Helen McEntee, the Irish Justice Minister, pulled out of the conference in what was seen as a tit-for-tat move following a decision on Sunday by James Cleverly, the Home Secretary, to cancel their meeting. Home Office sources cited a diary clash.

Immigration to Ireland rose by 32 per cent in the year ending last April, with asylum seekers accounting for more than 13,000 of over 140,000 arrivals.

Mr Harris said on Sunday: “Every country is entitled to have its own migration policy, but I certainly don't intend to allow anybody else's migration policy to affect the integrity of our own one. This country will not, in any way, shape or form, provide a loophole for anybody else's migration challenges. That's very clear.”

However, Mr Stride was unapologetic about the Rwanda policy. Asked whether it was designed to force migrants into Ireland, he denied that was the case, saying: “The design is to ensure there is a deterrent effect.

“We passed the Rwanda Bill that means those coming here illegally can expect to be removed to Rwanda. What we are already seeing is a deterrent effect kicking in. That's why we are seeing people moving from the UK into Ireland.”

No post-Brexit returns agreement

Before Brexit, the return of migrants to EU countries was governed by the Dublin Agreement, under which migrants could be sent back to a safe third country through which they had passed before arriving at their destination.

This meant asylum seekers arriving in Ireland from the UK, or migrants reaching the UK from France could be returned if it could be shown that they had passed through a safe third country – that is, the UK or France.

‌But the UK left the scheme when it departed the EU and no successor agreement was signed during the Brexit talks, meaning there are no formal returns agreements in place between EU countries and the UK.

A post-Brexit provision was, however, made in the case of the UK and Ireland, which meant Ireland could return asylum seekers to Britain. No asylum seeker has been returned to Ireland, or vice-versa, under this post-Brexit arrangement since it was struck.

But the Irish High Court last month ruled that the Irish government's declaration of the UK as a “safe third country” to which it could return asylum seekers was unlawful, as a result of the Rwanda Bill. The emergency legislation proposal seeks to overturn this judgment.

Rwanda plan makes returns agreement ‘unpalatable'

EU sources told The Telegraph that the Rwanda plan has made a migrants returns agreement with Britain unpalatable for too many “progressive” European Union governments.

While the bloc's conservative leaders see no merit in a UK-EU returns deal because it would result in “more” asylum seekers being sent from Britain to the Continent.

“The Rwanda stuff will make a deal unpalatable to a whole slew of progressive governments on the EU side,” an EU diplomat said.

“And then there's the question of what the EU gains from a deal with the EU? A deal might only lead to more returns from the UK to the EU. That's not going to win you any votes on the conservative, so what's the incentive?”

The EU will hold bloc-wide elections for the European Parliament in June amid fears populist and nationalist parties will win in at least nine countries on the back of anger over mass migration and Net Zero policies.

Sources said there was also little appetite in sitting down with Britain while the EU is engulfed in its own migration crisis.

“I don't see much interest in a UK-EU migration deal until we've properly sorted out our own migration mess first,” a Brussels insider said.

“Yes, we've agreed on the pact, but that doesn't enter into force for another two years,” they added, referring to new border measures to halt illegal migration across the Mediterranean and through the Balkans.

The “migration pact” seeks to accelerate the processing of asylum applications as well as enables the detention of asylum seekers who have a lower chance of successful bid at the EU's external borders.

Controversially, it also sets up a burden-sharing mechanism that will require the bloc's 27 member states to take in their fair share of migrants landing in just a handful of countries, such as Greece and Italy.

Countries like Poland and Hungary, which have rejected resettling asylum seekers, will be forced to pay a levy to help finance the system for more willing capitals.

At a debate ahead of the EU elections, Ursula Von der Leyen, the European Commission's president, last night rejected that her centre-right European People's Party was pushing a Rwanda-style plan for the bloc.

The top eurocrat, who is vying for a second term in office, went as far to suggest deporting migrants to the African country was a breach of international law.

“This is the UK, and we have nothing to do with it,” she told the audience.

“The UK left the European Union. Let them discuss their issues and we discuss our issues. We have fulfilled our international obligations – and that's very important – in the past, we fulfil them today and we will fulfil them tomorrow. This is absolutely necessary to the Geneva Convention ... the European convention.”

She added: “But I also think it is in order to say that we Europeans are the ones who decide who comes to the European Union and under what circumstances, and not the smugglers and traffickers.

“Therefore, agreements with third countries, for example Tunisia or Egypt, is investing in their economy, investing in their education system to create legal, safe pathways for people to come, also for protection, but not to define for the smugglers and traffickers who comes to the European Union.”

S*x is biological fact, NHS declares in landmark shift against gender ideology

Campaigners welcome change to constitution, which will ban trans women from female-only wards, as ‘return to common sense'

Changes to the health service's written constitution proposed by ministers will for the first time ban trans women from women-only wards, and give women the right to request a female doctor for intimate care.

The NHS constitution, a document that aims to set out the principles and values of the health service and legal rights for patients and staff, was last updated in 2015. It has to be updated at least every 10 years by the Secretary of State.

Campaigners for women's rights welcomed the significant shift, which comes after years of wrangling and follows accusations that the health service had been captured by “gender ideology”.

In 2021, NHS guidance said trans patients could be placed in single-s*x wards based on the gender with which they identified.

The new constitution will state: “We are defining s*x as biological s*x.”

The clarification means that the right to a single-s*x ward means patients would “not have to share sleeping accommodation with patients of the opposite biological s*x”.

Until now, no commitment was made to biological s*x, meaning some female patients complained that they were forced to share sleeping space with trans women – those who are born male but identify as female.

Health Secretary Victoria Atkins

Women's rights campaigners said the move was a “return to common sense and an overdue recognition that women's wellbeing and safety matter.”

However, NHS leaders raised concerns that the health service was being “dragged into a pre-election culture wars debate”.

The changes to the constitution are a further indication of a change in attitudes after the Cass review into the NHS's gender identity services found evidence that allowing children to change gender was built on weak foundations.

Dr Hilary Cass, a paediatrician, said allowing “social transitioning” for young people – when they are treated as the opposite gender – could “change their trajectory” and lead to them pursuing a potentially damaging medical pathway in later life.

The updates to the constitution will also include the introduction of a duty to help patients get back to work and embed “Martha's Rule” into the framework of the health service.

This follows pledges by Victoria Atkins, the Health Secretary, to give families the right to access a rapid review from an outside team if a patient is deteriorating. It is named after 13-year-old Martha Mills, who died in 2021 after medics missed signs of sepsis and failed to heed warnings from her parents that their daughter's condition was getting worse.

Women will also be given the right to request that intimate care is provided, where reasonably possible, by someone of the same biological s*x.

It follows warnings that some female patients have been pressured into accepting such care from trans-identifying staff who were born male.

The proposed changes will also see discrimination requirements updated, with the word gender replaced with s*x.

Gender reassignment remains a protected characteristic, meaning that a transgender patient could be given their own room in a hospital to protect their right to a single-s*x service.

The document also places a duty on health providers to use “clear terms” to communicate and take account of biological differences. It follows pledges from ministers to stop NHS trusts using terms like “chestfeeding” and “people who give birth”.

In February, Ms Atkins highlighted her concerns, telling The Telegraph: “We need to be making this robust case to refuse to wipe women out of the conversation.”

On Tuesday, she said: “We want to make it abundantly clear that if a patient wants same-s*x care they should have access to it wherever reasonably possible.

“We have always been clear that s*x matters and our services should respect that.

“By putting this in the NHS constitution we're highlighting the importance of balancing the rights and needs of all patients to make a healthcare system that is faster, simpler and fairer for all.”

Maya Forstater, chief executive of gender critical group S*x Matters, said: “It is excellent news that the NHS constitution is being revised to put ‘s*x' in its rightful place – at the heart of principle 1, which sets out that the NHS must treat everyone with equality and respect for their human rights.

“The confusion between ‘s*x' and ‘gender' in official policies like the NHS constitution is what has enabled women's rights to be trampled over in the name of transgender identities.

“S*x, of course, is a matter of biology, not identity, and it is welcome that the NHS is now spelling this out in relation to single-s*x accommodation and intimate care.”

Ms Forstater said too many female patients seeking that intimate care be given by a woman had been pressured into accepting a trans-identifying male instead.

“Healthcare providers have become confused and frightened by the idea that a gender recognition certificate, or even just a personal identity claim, overrides other people's rights when it comes to same-s*x care from healthcare professionals.”

She said the shift was “simply a return to common sense and an overdue recognition that women's wellbeing and safety matter.”

Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents healthcare leaders, said its members would review the proposals in detail.

However, he added: “What is absolutely clear at this stage is that a focus on high-quality care for all is maintained and that the NHS is not dragged into a pre-election culture wars debate. This is not where energies should be focused.”

Mr Taylor said staff worked hard to show fairness and compassion towards all patients.

“In particular, groups of people, including trans and non-binary patients, continue to receive some of the worst health outcomes of any group in our society and NHS leaders and staff will want to do all they can to support these patients, as well as their trans and non-binary staff to reduce inequalities.

“Whatever changes are eventually introduced following the consultation need to be clear and workable for NHS staff, who should not expect to have to interpret ambiguous guidance at a local level.”

The eight-week consultation will be the first stage of a review of the constitution.

The Government will consider responses from everyone, including the public, clinicians and medical professionals, patients, carers and organisations representing patients and staff and health stakeholders, before publishing the consultation response and the new NHS constitution.

Louise Ansari, chief executive of Healthwatch England said: “The NHS constitution plays a crucial role in shaping the culture of our NHS and helping the public to know their rights.

“Since the NHS constitution launched, it has helped to shift the balance of power from services towards patients and their families. But, with only a third of people knowing their rights, there is still a long way to go.

“Given the challenges our NHS faces, a conversation to reaffirm and raise awareness of the most important rights to the public has never been more timely.

“We urge everyone to take part in the consultation and have their say. This is your opportunity to send a clear message about the rights you hold most dear.”

Of course the Jan 6 insurrectionists had no right to be there, they should have all been arrested that day and I'm glad many have been since. There's no need to send in the military with live ammunition like in Kent State, that was an insane overreaction. The university should order the protestors to disperse, and if they don't, the police should arrest them, they should be charged with trespassing, and suspended or expelled. (4)

What you people don't realize is that this is the kind of shit that lead to the Kent State massacre in 1970. We are basically repeating history. And personally, I think both Joe Biden and Donald Trump are both too old to be President. But the Republicans must never control the Federal Government ever again. Look up Project 2025 and see what they're planning to do. It would basically take away ALL our freedom and our right to privacy. Do you really want that? (-6)

Basedness: 🔥🔥🔘🔘🔘

All they need are some water hoses. Make it rain. The wokies aren't anywhere near tough enough to camp in the rain for any amount of time,. (4)

Hate to tell you this, boomer. But there's a thing called the First Amendment. If you don't believe in freedom of speech for people you don't agree with, you don't believe in freedom of speech. If you people had your way, the military would be sent and they would open fire on them. (-2)

Basedness: 🔥🔥🔘🔘🔘

The first amendment says that the government can't restrict speech. It doesn't say you can take over space on private property, and it definitely doesn't say you can use it to harass Jewish students. The university has every right to clear out these protestors and I hope they do. (6)

What if they send in the military and it leads to another Kent State? Would you support that? And if they can't take over space on restricted property, then those who attacked the US Captiol on January 6 had no right to be there, either. (-2)

Your argument is literally "just let them kill civilians bro please just a little bro please"The Idiot here is you. Nobody is carrying for Hamas. They are carrying for the 99.99% of innocent Palestinians that have and are suffering because of the apartheid state of Israel (1)

It's not apartheid and its a war that was started by hamas, its a war they can stop at any moment they want by surrendering and returning the hostages. The palestinian people are innocent and getting bombed by the decisions made by the leaders of Gaza, Hamas. These are facts, its unfortunate the people get caught up in the meat grinder of war but thats the problem when you elect terrorists to run your country. The war is over when hamas says its over thats how war works kid. (1)

Angriness: 😡😡😡😡😡

Extremely weird how a "superior power" with the intelligence capabilities to know precisely which buildings in Gaza these Hamas fighters are hiding in (so they have a readymade excuse every time they blow up dozens of innocent boys, girls, babies, elderly, noncombatants etc to smithereens) was somehow caught completely blindsided by an invasion of their borders that took months if not years to plan. Almost as if they let it happen on purpose, so they could then raze and steal more land that doesn't belong to them exactly as they do to the Palestinians every day in the West Bank. You hasbara goons can desperately try to control the narrative all you want but the rest of the world is increasingly aware of the realities of this conflict with every passing day. You don't see a fraction of this level of support for Israel anywhere outside of the US/UK and even there it is limited to lead-brained boomers, maga cultists and miscellaneous reactionary dipshits. (1)

Gotcha, if you know its gonna happen and then let it happen its your fault.Again every step of the way you carry water for hamas, no agency for them. They were forced to attack Israel Israel was forced to attack them and now you're pretending like they didnt voluntairily leave Gaza 20 years ago. Know who else left Gaza? "Fatah", know why? Cause hamas threw them off of buildings to consolidate power.Anything else interesting happen in gaza for the past 20 years? Maybe a couple rockets? Anything at all? Defiitely no land grabs though, so whats your excuse for them now. When they start erecting settlements there i will be on your side just like i'm on the side of the palestinians in the west bank, except this war in Gaza is not that at all.Stop conflating issues. Frick hamas and the war they started. (1)

Terrorists??? Democrats and Republicans alike want to live in fascists society so badly. (0)

The unforeseen positive feedback loops that we will only notice when it's far too late.

We might very well be like Wile E. Coyote, already off the cliff just not realising it yet.

Just like my cartoon!

Preemptive war for diminishing resources.

Wid scale ecological collapse. The ecosystems we have are our life support. They provide all of our food, heavily influence weather patterns, etc. When they go, we go, and we won't be able to out-tech ourselves from the situation. Geopolitical instability rapidly spirals in conjunction with ecological collapse.

:#marseyimmortanjoe: :#marseyfuriosa:

I'm surprised to see this relatively low in the list. The biggest problem, IMO, is not that extreme weather events are going to kill people. It's that extreme weather events are going to, at some point, line up badly and wipe out a large amount of food at one time. Add this to the loss of sea life and we simply won't have enough food to feed everyone. Many, many people will die. Many more will try to move.

Looks like Malthusianism is back on the menu!

Geopolitical instability. Collectively, humans are not great at dealing with crisis., so our own collective immaturity will compound any existential crisis. We are the crisis of crisis.

Pandemic is a case in point.

And as for when it will happen, well it started about 2008.

2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 2008 :#soycry: :#soysnoo2: THE YEAR OF MILLENNIAL APOCALYPSE

!ifrickinglovescience !biology !chemistry I'm unironically concerned about climate change as well, but these doomers focus on the most extreme worst-case-scenarios on a very unhealthy way to the point it just discourages any climate action, I don't see much discussion about adaptation neither, not that is a silver bullet but things like more research on GMO heat or drought resistant crops will be necessary and could help with food insecurity. Research on solar geoengineering should also be encouraged.
