The biggest problem with these games was most of them in the beginning made it so that people could be eliminated through no fault of their own. It was a dumb way to get rid of a lot of contestants fast. Viewers would see this as not entirely fair. If they only want 60 contestants to fight for the prize, then they should choose 60 people, not 500 or whatever they started out with. I had a chance to get on this show and I refused for this reason, because knowing my luck I would have been in one of those rows where someone takes the money and eliminates me, or get stuck in a group of 50+ who loses because one guy dropped a ball...think about it, a former wide receiver dropped a red playground ball? I wouldn't be surprised if he was a studio plant. It's ridiculous. I'm a former athlete and would have asked for a 10ft circle of space to catch any ball myself. the thing that's kills these type of reality tv show games is inauthenticity, everyone has a sob story ("i lost my home, i've struggled very much in life, my family needs this, i have a sick family member", etc.) even tho it is unfortunate everyone in multiple reality game shows have the same rehearsed story atp as much as it sounds mean or insensitive but who knows if they're just making stuff up. at the end of the day they just want money so all these sob stories to move further in the game really doesn't make you root for anyone cause the more people eliminated the more the remaining players will say or do anything to stay. what the show needs is to be cutthroat and really have games where everyone try using their actual skills (7)

My main takeaway from this, a hypothesis that I've been developing since the first time I voted and was appalled about how our side managed to lose, is that the people running the Democratic Party don't want to win.

Look at how the Democratic Party works in South Korea. The they're hounding the current president's wife because:

• Say that you're not "woke" and denounce "anti-racism". (Virtually everyone in America agrees with this.)

• Acknowledge that blacks have been losing their jobs to illegal immigrants for a long time.

• Reform the tax code so that ordinary people don't need to have so much stress about it. Blame the other side for stopping you.

• Reform corrupt county sheriffs and judges so that you can't get held up by highwaymen in uniforms and given a ticket while traveling through hick towns. (The President can't actually deliver on this, but promise it anyway.)

• Stop treating Cesar Chavez as the token LatinX you'll appeal to all Latinx through, because you're lazy and want a Martin Luther King of every minority and they're all the same.

• Stop saying LatinX.

• Call out Republicans for blocking every attempt to stop illegal immigration for generations.

• Propose actually doing e-Verify.

• Explain to r-slurs that building a wall was always a scam because most of the illegal immigrants come right through the gates and just overstay their visa.

• Emphatically support nuclear power to combat climate change.

That's just off the top of my head. I've got better ones I can't remember right now, issues that neither party will address but are really important to the American people.

Exactly. This. If it didn't matter, then the person would change it. And comparing this to a couple that is married for a decade who decided maybe jointly to keep their lives private is not an apples to apples comparison. This woman didn't want to change her status for one reason: what she looks like to outside world is actually more important to her than her bf's feelings. She keeps saying the opposite, and bringing up all sorts of bullshit replies. It's ridiculous. Every time in my life a woman has said she wants to keep our relationship private, there's a reason that is not good. Consider that in the time it took to text all that bullshit, she could've gone to her profile and changed her status 100 times, FFS. I mean… I think it was a weird thing for you to decide was a hill to die on. I personally am cautious about posting a lot of anything on fb… I have a toxic ex and friend that would stalk my FB and cause drama over anything I updated on Facebook. Maybe she has nosy family that she doesn't want getting up in her business about a new relationship status. Or maybe she just likes to keep things private. Whatever the reason, I 100% agree the communication thing is more important than a fb status- there is just a lot of justified reasons someone might be hesitant to do that that have nothing to do with the relationship itself. And if you have only been together a short time those reasons may be something she is not yet comfortable disclosing. I think you tried to compare apples to oranges with the communication and "honoring" wishes. It just seems very trivial. (437)

My now wife was like that when we started dating for a couple of months. But that was because I met her when I was with my ex. My wife is the owner of the boarding barn that my ex and I went to board our horses with. My ex was kind of a nut job and cheating like crazy again when we started boarding there, and the relationship was in turmoil, so I broke up with her. Then I started working on the horse trailer that I had at the barn owners property to get it moved off of her land. And me and her would hang out platonically as friends, and we eventually got together. So she was hesitant on changing her fb status as it kind of looked bad to be screwing around with the barn owner after me and the ex broke up a few months prior.
