We're getting into the Modern era endgame, which typically for Civilization is the point that you've already won and you're just mopping up dudes with longbows with tanks while you listen to John Adams. Dawn of Civilization attempts to avoid this snowball effect and is generally successful unless you've maintained a hueg empire like we have.

I've for sure hit the snowball effect here as I'm an era+ ahead of everyone with near 10x the military of the rest of the world.

We have researched Spaceflight and our vision of Romans on Mars is coming into view.

Mediolanum gets to work on putting our first satellite into space while Rome develops the internet.

Also working on the Empire State Building in Rhegium. Bros the wonder video for this is adorable. It's like 90s FMV I could probably post it here but I'm going to make you install the mod to watch it instead.

We're nearing the end of the tech tree. Now researching Globalism

It's 1838AD so we're 100+ years early.

The AI is generally at their appropriate spot in history, developing railroads and factories and shit. I would slow down research and allow the rest of the world to catch up and resume all this stuff in the 1950s, BUT I'm approaching Legendary culture in a number of cities so if I don't try to win it's possible I'd accidentally hit a Cultural victory instead of a Space victory. That would be lame.

We could pretty well win most of these original victory conditions at this point. I would just need to conquer 5% more of the world for Domination. Russia and America as my vassal provinces are likely going to accomplish a good bit of that on their own just through natural expansion. The United Nations is being built in Greece but I'm not sure about Diplomatic because a lot of the world hates me. Conquest would be tricky too but I'm sure it's doable.

Instead, I'm generously trading away techs to everyone just to make things a lil more interesting.

Some stuff to get out of the way.

Last game Sweden became Communist and we discovered a cosmetic bug where Sweden lacked an official title under communism. I requested something to rename them to.

Marrakesh has been my main naval center and since researching flight London has been my primary aviation center. Independent Scotland and Ireland have been hostile to me most of the game and the Scottish have now decided to poke some of my old musket-wielding mine-guarding military with sticks. I promote them to modern infantry and decide to deal with Scotland.

Ireland too. I'll remind you I liberated these ungrateful frickers.

Since these are independent cities I don't think I get any diplomatic penalties. Can't remember if there's something like base game's "Global Warming" effect from excessive nuking. I don't care anywhere, we're about to go to freakin Mars, frick Earth

Satellites can join a city for a science, commerce, or espionage boost. Rhegium has become our new commerce city with a Central Bank and the Empire State Building while Rome has shifted to Great Person generation, so I'm starting to put satellites there.

With the research of Satellites we reach the Digital Age. Now the end of the tech tree is in sight.

Japan is working on putting our first man into space

The United Nations has been finished in Greece.

We are elected to head over Kangxi of the Great Qing. We don't even get the necessary votes but enough of the world abstained from voting, I guess because they hate both of us.

We can establish a single currency to boost trade.

Kyoto puts a man into space. The japs get to work on a Lunar Landing. Rome is developing an International Space Station.

We begin to experience the consequences of Sid Meier's 90s-early 00s "nuclear bad" environmentalist mentality.

And Global Warming starts to hit in England due to our nuking of the British Isles.

Once we research "Renewable Energy" we can build solar panels onto this Cornish desert.

Canada, the latest spawning unique civilization, appears in the 1860s

Peru enters the game too, but I believe this is just a resurrected Inca civilization. They go to war with Colombia.

Canada eventually pledges loyalty to the great Dragon along with Austria. Korea falls under the protection of Iran. My Mandebros accept fascism and become the "Military Committee of Mali". Bimothy is Bimothy.

Japan succeeds with the Lunar Landing and we're treated to another lovely FMV

It triggers ANOTHER Golden Age. Three consecutive so far! Japan is doing well enough that they can get to work on the Mars Mission as well. It will only be an issue if they suddenly declare independence.

Dorylaion in Turkey can get to work on sending the Golden Record

Once the japs make it to Mars we can start the real Space Race.

Similar to Base Game, we have to build a bunch of different components. The more we build the higher chance of success.

We're going to start building the Framing components in Australia, since it's not at risk of secession.

We're starting the Power Sources in the Italian mainland for similar reasons. Rome is working on a Lunar Colony, which will speed all of these projects up.

We're facing aggressive espionage harassment at this point. Buildings keep blowing up. There's a Great Firewall wonder we could build but our Mars projects are the priority.

Scottish r-slurs are throwing bombs at us now.

We're just gonna have to conquer them to get them to stop annoying us.

We've completed the tech tree. Transhumanism functions the same as "Future Tech" in the base game, spreading happiness and health. We can continue researching it to further improve the empire.

In Civ5 this improves your score. Who the frick cares about score? That game sucks balls, seriously.

Roma completes the Interstellar Probe, giving a final Golden Age. The extractor is built and we get to work on the final component, the Mars Control Center.

One more Great Statesman is born in Roma. We can use Diocletianus for a final government change.

We're going back to a Bureaucracy and embracing Multilateralism to speed up construction in our capital. It has poor stability compatibility with fascism but we're about to establish a new government on Mars. Don't care.

We are however sticking to unrepentant capitalism. Despite a large Capitalism Bad penalty from corporations, we have enough happiness to offset it.

One day I checked my email and I received three separate emails (along with a few voicemails) from people very enthusiastically inviting me to "rdrama.net". Usually my email inbox is very slow, so to have multiple people emailing me over the course of one day was exciting. The emails I received told me that people were discussing my website on rdrama.net, and I was provided a link to this thread.

In this thread, people seemed bewildered by my opinions and blunt honesty, but they were unexpectedly welcoming and encouraging despite this (or probably because of this). I always have a hard time thinking about how others perceive me, since I will admit, I am fairly strange compared to the average person. I lose sight of this since I am me and I am living this strangeness 24/7, so what is completely normal to me is completely unique and new to other people. Sometimes I will say really stupid things to other people in public because I am slightly nervous when talking to people in person, so I have a harder time pacing my thoughts. This means that I sometimes lose sight of "normal" speak and my own internal words/phrases I made up. Once I gifted an acquaintance cookies. She thanked me and said the cookies were good. I got nervous, giggled, and said, "That's great, I hope they give you good mouth pleasure." The term "mouth pleasure" is one I made up to imply something is tasty, but out of context, it sounds completely sexual. After I said that, I felt my face turn red. Another time, I was talking to an acquaintance about delicious food I had just eaten and I casually said, "I one throated that food". The term "one throat" implies you ate something so quickly in one go, "one throat". But after saying it, I immediately realized that term was something I say to myself internally, not externally. It also sounds very similar to "deep throat", so I was embarrassed after I accidentally said that. (I originally heard this term on Impractical Jokers and it resonated with me.) All of this to say, my eccentricities sometimes make me seem more fascinating compared to other people, because other people are very similar to one another and thus, they do not stand out.

Also, someone in the rdrama.net thread was wondering if I was a . Is it because I use Arch? What about me emanates mentally ill man who shaves his taint? I took great offense to this, because what biological male has a cute face and is 4' 11"? That would be the absolute jackpot, and if I were a that had hit such a jackpot, I would definitely have capitalized on that. But instead, here I am writing this and making websites for s*x offenders, sans girldick. Plus, all s sound the same. They sound like a deranged Mickey Mouse, and my voice sounds nothing like that. I have a very authentic, biological, female voice. Perhaps you haven't spent enough time watching s to know this. I implore you to spend a few minutes educating yourself. Overall, I was amused by this encounter because it was a glimpse into how people react when they visit my website and read my opinions. Usually I am completely blind to people's perceptions on these things, since there isn't a comment section on my HTML pages. It was also nice to see a website with a solid and active userbase that is completely separate from the usual r-slurred back-doored NSA Telegram chat, Groomercord group, or other NSA controlled "social media" website. I'm pretty sure rdrama.net uses Lemmy, which is open source (and federated) software that mirrors the Reddit look. If you are opposed to using reddit because you do not wish to start estrogen pills, then using a Lemmy instance would be a better solution for you.

In my case, while I appreciate the kind reception and invitations to rdrama.net, I am not a fan of the Reddit style/form of communication, nor do I tend to use websites that require accounts (withe exception of e-mail and my Peertube).

A lot of the time I prefer to post opinions and share ideas/responses anonymously, as this serves a few primary benefits:

1. No one will agree/disagree with my opinion simply because I said it. When I post an idea anonymously, I can get honest feedback that is not tainted by someone's opinion of me.

2. I generally do not use any website with a profile system. I don't like cliques that tend to come with profile-based websites. For example, on forums you will have cliques, a reputation, a post number history attached to your profile which seemingly dictates your worth. There are too many factors a profile adds that taint a discussion; as now the person is more important than the discussion at hand.

3. I can post something I do not actually mean without someone having the ability to confirm if I actually believe that thing due to my post history. Anonymity gives you freedom to be a completely different person. This allows anonymous posting to be much more fun due to its chaotic nature.

It's important to note that a website page is different from a discussion. While I operate a website where I write my thoughts/opinions, in a setting of discussion, I vastly prefer for ideas to hold value over who said the idea. When identities get involved in a discussion, the ideas can be tainted simply by the identity saying them. Whereas if the discussion was held anonymously, the thoughts and ideas are judged on their own merit alone.

I understand this is unconventional thinking for most people and that I am in a great minority. I personally prefer to operate like this, but I understand why most people do not have issues with profiles and discussions tied to an identity. While I personally do not make accounts on social websites due to my own personal beliefs, I think there is a good chance some of my readers may like this website. I think it's important to spend leisurely internet time on websites that are separate from globohomo ones. I encourage you to at least look at this website out of curiosity, and perhaps join if it's something you like. By having more users interact on such websites, it gives those who were once reluctant to use. Only a few years ago (around 2017) many open source federated websites were dead due to low adoptability since people did not want to use websites with a low userbase. Thanks to those who choose to use them regardless, it has given them more value, and thus, those who will only join is there is a sufficient userbase will now be more willing to utilize these better websites.

The situation on RTX 50 launch day looks dire. It seems that the few people who manage to find the cards in stock online will either be powered by fast AI algorithms or simply lucky to be near retailer servers.

We previously reported on the RTX 50 launch day lottery in Japan. The country is known for such draws, which, in order to prevent scalping, give everyone in line an equal chance to purchase limited-supply products. Only those whose tickets are chosen will be allowed to buy the product. While it's hard to call that a win, at least some participants don't leave empty-handed.

According to Japanese media, one of the lotteries at PC Koubou, which started earlier (around 15:00 local time), ended in chaos. People were seen climbing over the fence of a nearby kindergarten, and screams were heard. There's also a photo of a destroyed kingergarten sign (added above). The lottery concluded before many attendees even arrived, leading to frustration and disorder at the venue.

The PC Koubou Parts Hall has started calling for entries for a lottery to purchase the RTX5090, but the situation is currently in chaos.

Angry shouts were heard, and some people even climbed over the fence of the kindergarten next door.

Swedish retailer Inet confirms there may not be any RTX 5090 stock at launch. It seems they are waiting for an update from their courier company. Even if any 5090 units arrive, the retailer expects them to sell out immediately. The 5080, on the other hand, should sell "quickly."

According to a Redditor who compiled a list of MicroCenter locations and their expected RTX 5090/5080 stock, only 233 RTX 5090 cards were distributed across all stores in the U.S. Similarly, only 2,393 RTX 5080 models were allocated. This is an extremely low number of cards for launch day, though it's important to note that we cannot verify the accuracy of this list.

However, Tustin, California, appears to be one of the few locations where lining up might make sense. The queue is already over 300 people long show messages shared on Reddit, meaning that if the numbers above are correct, the last people in line won't even have a chance to buy a card.

While it's great to see such high demand for new graphics cards, it's difficult to understand why NVIDIA did not prepare a larger stock for launch. The company was not forced to release the cards this early, and there is clearly a significant supply issue. Nothing would have changed if the launch had been delayed by a month, allowing board partners to build inventory. OREBRO, Sweden, Feb 5 (Reuters) - The worst mass shooting in Swedish history was carried out by a 35-year-old Swedish man who lived locally, had been unemployed for a decade and had changed his first and last name, a police source and tax data show.

Swedish media named the suspect as Rickard Andersson. The police source also named Andersson as the alleged gunman.

Aftonbladet reported that, according to documents viewed by the paper, the man had previously been enrolled at the school for several mathematics classes, without finishing them. The most recent class he was enrolled for was in 2021.

Police said the suspect, who died at the scene, was not known to them prior to the event and had never been convicted of any crime. They also said he had no gang connection and was believed to have acted alone.
