The new Godzilla-Kong movie dropped on HBO Max, and there is an ASL version and it's the funniest shit I've seen all week.
It's basically just this black guy that pops up at the bottom of the screen acting like he's roaring like a gorilla. It feels vaguely racist, but then I thought, what if they DIDNT have a black man doing ASL as King Kong.
Here's a few links of pics/vids I found, for the poors who don't have HBO Max (the best streaming service).

I have no idea what the movie is about but the guy does ASL with so much soul.

Spoilers obviously
!kino this movie is absolutely phenomenal and goes far beyond the typical godzilla movie
Godzilla isn't on screen too much nor too little, he's impactful and memorable without overstaying his welcome, great shots of him brutally destroying cities and killing people
The main characters are empathetical and really make you care about them
I almost teared up at the end, it is powerful and emotional, particularly the part where the engineer forgives the main character for his earlier cowardice
Godzilla Minus One would very nearly be my favorite movie of all time IF
IF
it wasn't for the very very ending, the last five seconds of the movie fricking spoils the entire thing for me
(Last spoiler warning)
The movie made a huge deal about the main character's wife dying, and had to put in an enormous effort to bring her back, giving our movie a happy ending (a few minutes before this part the audience is preparing for a very sad ending). Why go to so much trouble to reveal your female protagonist isn't actually dead, why show that she's alive AND that the main character ejected his plane at the last second, why go to so much effort to transform a sad ending into a happy ending, just to reveal that she's alive but has super-cancer and is just gonna die soon anyway? What a fricking waste
Also Godzilla just immediately regenerating at the very end before it cuts to credits - I get that they have to set up for a sequel but everyone assumed there'd be a sequel anyway, but why not show that at the beginning of the sequel? Why not let this movie have a definite conclusion? By showing Godzilla regenerating at the end it a) undermines the enormous effort the main characters went through to kill him and b) leaves the movie on a cliffhanger and can't be enjoyed just on its own.
I'm frustrated because if you cut the last five seconds of the film: don't show the wife's black cancerous scar and don't show Godzilla regenerating, this would be my new favorite movie of all time. FRICK

House of the Dragon ep discussion in here too plz. Actually good ep. Daemon lurking around the castle is still the best part of the season. Rhaenys got a good death 👌👌.
Now that we got a few eps is The Boys new season worth watching? Seen lots of folk talking about it on Twitter but mixed reactions.

It retells the story of how bin Laden was hunted down and killed. I already knew all this stuff from watching the news when it was happening, but I guess it's interesting to see it all put together in one story.
Beyond that I'm not seeing why it got so much attention. It looks good, but it's 2024. Every movie looks good now. The story is stuff that's important to know but not terribly compelling. Beyond just recounting what really happened it has a fictional plot about a girlboss CIA analyst which is the weakest part of it. I really did not give a shit about her.
Just kidding. I'm not stupid. I know it got so much attention because anything Kathryn Bigelow makes is very important. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but the only thing she did in this that I found notable was making about 1/4 of it torture. It's a weird choice to make. There was lots of different sources of intelligence that led them to bin Laden, but she makes it seem like they basically just tortured it out of one guy. It never shows a normal interrogation, implying that your choice is just to torture or do nothing. I don't know if he would have talked just as soon if they gave him some cigarettes instead. Nobody knows because they didn't try it. But for some reason Kathryn Bigelow is sure that torture and only torture works. Kinda makes me wonder if she's some kind of pervert.

Years ago, I created this list of non-Japanese animated television series aimed at adults:
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls074779977/
The list is, by far, the most exhaustive such list in existence. It encompasses everything from the extremely well-known (The Simpsons, South Park) to the ultra-obscure (Two Posh Old Men, The Esperanto Family); several of the titles on the list weren't even listed on IMDb at all until I added them to the database myself. It is the sort of thing that only a true sperglord could compile.
However, I am sure that it is missing some titles - especially since I was, obviously, out of the loop while I was in prison. Shortly after I got of prison, I added a shitload of titles to it. Please tell me if you see anything missing (and what you think of the list).
(Previously, I posted a similar thread on here about my list of disturbing films.)
