Ghana is not the home of all people of African descent. They are taking advantage of diaspora black people's confused cultural identity to convince them to move to a poorer country with a poorer standard of living so that they can increase their population of educated foreigners (and foreign currency). Unless you believe it's an inherent good that Black people live in Africa, it doesn't make sense for diaspora black people to do this.

I think black Americans they can do what they want. I don't think they'd be making the most facts and logic decision by moving there, but still failing to see how this is a 'scam'. I don't think very many African Americans will fall for this because they are "capable" of understanding the arrangement, but that has no bearing on whether or not it is a scam. A EU authority is demanding real-time surveillance of phones and laptops starting in 2025. They demand that the police shall be able to read messages in the entire European Union in real-time. Thus, the concluding report criticized that the different regulations regarding data retention in the individual EU states lead to problems in cross-border criminal prosecution. Specifically, the HLG demanded in their preliminary report from May that the industry should be mandated to cooperate with the agencies so that the police gets access to data that allows for an identification of users, such as the storing of IP addresses. In addition, they demand that non-cooperative electronic communication services shall be subject to prohibitive sanctions.

Read messages even before they are sent

Already in May, they demanded that there shall be a EU initiative which allows for looking at "data in transit", thus do real-time surveillance. In the concluding report from November 15, the HLG doubled down on the demand and strongly demanded that the Commission issue a corresponding proposition in 2025. By real-time surveillance, the HLG means that messages are able to be read even before they are sent, or shortly after they reached the recipient.

In the concluding report, they also said that the fact that they can't access the data in real-time allegedly causes big difficulties for crime prevention. Police officers have to make use of methods like installing cameras or microphones, which are dangerous for the officers. If you are not able to read messages, all other persons surrounding a suspect must be surveilled too. The HLG also demands more funding in the coming EU budget to stock up on means for "digital forensic cowtools".

Currently, there is no mutual regulation for mass data retention in the European Union because the European Court of Justice has declared the prior guideline on data retention invalid in 2014. The European Data Protection Committee criticized the HLG's demands in a statement on November 4. The demands would strongly invade the right to data protection and privacy. The committee also criticized the demand to weaken encryption.

I was considering an effort post on DRC as it's a good example of what's happening with daddies foreign policy. Can't be bothered to do an effort post today but some potential mining sites in this as it develops.

Rwanda have had a slow burning war with DRC since the 90's but the France and the US have largely kept them in check. They can quietly support their little separatist group as long as they don't try and expand the conflict beyond the eastern province they are in and they mostly ignore the war crimes. Rwanda has been using DRC resources to fuel their growth and want more.

DRC is much larger than Rwanda but it's been a failed state since the 90's and while some form of government has existed since 2005 it's limited to the West and South of the country and is very weak. Rwanda have relatively modern, for Africa, armed forces, and all the gibs they got post-genocide mean they have good infrastructure for that part of the world. Rwanda have also had the same president for 25 years who keeps "winning" with 90%+ of the vote.

When the US eyes went away the guerillas in DRC suddenly had tanks and helicopters. A couple of weeks later when no one did anything there were suddenly a whole bunch of Rwandan troops in the country and they easily took the largest city in the east. They have stated they intend to keep moving West and "liberate" the entire country.

In terms of natural resource value DRC is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. It's so profoundly undeveloped, has problematic geography and terrible security that no one has been willing to take it on.

Most of the time offers like this would be absurd but this is the type of "deal" Trump loves. Hopefully he restarts the Belgian mining practices and cuts childrens hands off.
