P.S. The Actual Hats Update is still coming sometime before Christ returns to judge the quick and the dead. The flower crowns will be part of the real hats update. You do not get to keep your flower crowns. What sort of r-slur takes home things they found on the ground at a festival? That's like picking up beer-soaked beads at Mardi Gras.

We're kicking off this exciting week right and rolling out a feature I originally proposed back in January: mandatory pronouns! You'll be disappointed to know that my original proposal - which was to require pronouns at signup, and not allow any pages to be viewed for existing users until they set their pronouns, and these were all from a preset list of pronouns and neopronouns - did not come to pass, and the final product is the much more clever, much less hateful variant you see before you now. Everyone is a nice, gender neutral they/them by default. This cannot be avoided and is a million times smarter than disabling the site until pronouns are set and I am VERY EXCITED about this.

If you're not a they/them, that's totally okay! Just head on over to your settings page and you can correctly gender yourself.

Going forward, please remember to respect others' pronoun preferences. We've been lenient about this in the past, due to the confusion inherent in not having a dedicated pronouns field (and we are deeply sorry for the harm this caused), but now there is no excuse for misgendering your fellow rDrama users. It's 2022 and while the United States regresses to 1822 around us, we will not fall with them. Hate has no home here, and failure (read: willful refusal) to respect your fellow users' identities will not be tolerated.

Pin awards and progressive stack are back. If you really hate this for some reason, there is now an option to sort by Warm in the sort options box. This acts like sorting by Hot but makes pins not appear at the top.

Minor Patch Notes

There were like 700 commits since I last wrote one of these a few weeks ago, but this should be most of the noticeable changes. In rough order from older to more recent:

• Dropdown has a link to information on the rdrama.cc Fediverse instance.

• The abundance of megathread buttons on the sidebar were condensed into the Directory.

• Snappy comments made in the past 2wks (and ongoing) will show up in search.

• Reddit mention notifications (from Y'all Seein') are much more detailed and informative. (P.S.— you know this post chiobu just got 130+ upsorens on? If you had a Y'all Seein' Eye, you might've beat him to posting it.)

• Marsey Alphabet contains greek letters and lots of mathematical symbols. You can do real Marsey Math now!

• Search operator for searching inside holes, e.g. hole:truth wave if you want to find Carp's Jesuswave edits easily.

• Posts you Subscribe to new comments on now only notify for top-level comments. Also, you can find posts you subscribe to in a new tab on your profile.

• marseyschizochadseethecapylovepat and other pats of long emoji names actually work.

• File upload limits for Paypigs actually work the way they should on all media. Want to upload bigger videos or images? Donate link in the dropdown!

• Glowie Marseys — Like Golden Marseys but rarer.

• Emoji search autofocuses on the text box when you open it open. Just click to open it, and you can start typing!

• Fart mode now has Hunter Biden's fart as a possible sound.

• Simps/Haters/Simps-For/Hates have a "Total" line summing all the rows (including one's self-votes).

• Trying to leave a page while having unsubmitted text in a comment box will prompt you before leaving and losing your work.

• Right side of header bar on desktop is laid out more sanely (and the dropdown menu shouldn't clip off the side of the page sometimes).

• Replies in chat now have less clunky-looking block quotes.

• Ranking algorithm: no more boosts to effortposts. Hot Rank ∝ (votes + 0.2 × comments)(age)⁻¹·²³

I've got about a week of Marseys backlog I'll get to soon. Not gonna let 'em pile up like a certain (((🐟))) did.

I'm never doing this bullshit again. I automated it a ton and it was still miserable. We are blessed that the poor souls—mostly Capy—who processed the first 1200 of these by hand didn't fling themselves off tall structures.

Anyway, 139 Marseys (17 of which are animated) and 11 non-Marseys. Badges for creating at least one Marsey should've gone out to the appropriate people, though sans notification. If you're at or over ten Marseys on the leaderboard page and don't have a badge, DM me.

We're declaring bankruptcy on everything posted in the emoji thread prior to now. If it's not added and you posted it before, you're gonna have to repost it. Please do not repost: flags, flag Marseys, depictions of the Prophet Mohammed ﷺ, the entirety of Shrek in GIF form, most non-Marsey emoji (most of them were awful). If you want to make whoever does this after me less likely to rope, please: make the background transparent, crop out transparent borders, resize your images to 200px wide (or post both the full-size original and the 200px scaled version), and come up with less garbage tags. We might Soon™ come up with some alternative way to submit Marseys that's less tedious to process. In the interim, just use the thread.

After the recent Night of Kristallmopt, many of the disgraced former-mopcels were begging for one particular jannie-only feature back: getting notifications when people talk about us on reddit. Rather than put in some special exceptions for the power-user clique, we decided to make this feature available to everyone via the shop. And we already had the perfect badge to use for it:

For 10 000 DC or MBux—the same price as the All-Seeing Eye—you too can receive our Reddit Mentions Notifications straight to your rDrama inbox, so when plebbitors are shit-talking Marsey, you can jump right in to generate seethe. Plus, you get the fabulous badge shown above, made by @McCoxmaul.

Minor Patch Notes

From past week and a half (oldest to most recent):

• Patting flipped emoji should now work right (h/t @float-trip). Also, disabling 'Animations' in your user settings won't break patting anymore.

• Themes & readability: the Lottershe font colors were made readable for all theme choices; dramblr on mobile had the background color fixed for higher contrast.

• By adding a navigation icon for Transfers (log of DC/MBux transfers) to the sidebar, there should no longer be any pages lacking a link to them somewhere.

• 1 Reports → 1 Report

• Modals (like when you click on images to embiggen) no longer have a blurred backdrop. It was very pretty, but we got a lot of performance complaints. If you want it back, add .modal-backdrop.show { backdrop-filter: blur(16px) contrast(1.2); } to your Custom CSS.

• Slur replacer was made significantly faster (h/t @everyone). Enough so that people with it enabled should've noticed pages loading faster. Fun fact: slur replacer prior to the change was approximately 20% of our total server load.

• Lottershe: Chapose won the big jackpot last time, so instead of giving him royalties anymore, more of your ticket price goes straight into the pot! Also, notifications now tell the losers who won. Three days 'til the next drawing.

Coming Soon

• The Checkmark award will soon have a badge to go with it.

• The Fish relinquished control over the Marseys thread backlog. There's about 150 that still need to be added. Now you get to bitch at me instead of him until I add them. I can automate most of it, but if someone who is familiar with our Marsey tagging style would be willing to redo the tags for most of these, DM me. I have a spreadsheet I can send you of what needs re-tagging, and there would be some MBux in it for you.

• General rate of new features will be decreasing in the coming weeks. We have a pile of bugs that need fixing, and we're working on redoing parts of the code to improve performance and maintainability going forward.

• ETA 15:50 UTC: @idio3 just purged over a hundred sidebar images for being 'shitty memes'. He wants everyone to know how disappointed he is in their taste, and going forward the sidebar standards will be somewhat pickier.
