It got to the point another group of insane Russian :!marseytrain: s got together and created a fork intended to replace and supercede the mainline, slapping an AGPL license on it and adding a few kitsch features. Nowadays they merely port changes from Mainline over to their codebase.

That said, the Space Wizards remain as strong as ever, getting a trailer for their beloved project into the PC Game Awards show this year, behold:

And to this day, the Wizards hack away at their terminals, injecting estrogen for motivation and drinking soy to refuel their bodies, adding half-baked features and unnecessary 'alien' races to appeal to a fervent furry majority they carefully cultivate, deriding the Space Stationeers of old as chuds and male feminists. As you all surely know, I have been doing a freighter-only permadeath file. Self-imposed restrictions are as follows:

No expedition or twitch drop rewards besides cosmetics
No terrestrial bases. This includes mines and farms.
Freighter travel ONLY. Absolutely no interstellar warping with a starship. This has made finding any emeril at all a nightmare and overall progress is currently bottlenecked there. I have found cadmium from a Nexus mission and a frigate expedition brought me indium though.
No buying anything but tech modules. All materials and goods must be mined, rewarded or gotten via the freighter.
No still-vanilla exploits.
No ships at all aside from the starter Radiant Pillar BC1.
No free derelict detectors from Helios. Nanite rewards for discoveries are allowed.
Freighter must be a mini freighter, not a capital ship.

At the 23 hour mark, setup is as follows:

Inventory is expanded out the butt, hazard protection allows 10 minutes or so before needing to chuck sodium in without shield damage, jetpack is competent -

Storage augs for the ship are slow to come by and expanding with cash is at this time prohibitively expensive, but it's up to A class and it should be S with a few more days. Maneuverability is finally almost tolerable and the positron ejector makes quick work of everything.

Ugly A class rifle I found early. Looking forward to replacing it with a salvaged S sentinel when I can be bothered to hunt for it but the scatter blaster gets the job done.

Ugly colored Enterprise-style mini freighter. Around 9-10 hours were spent hunting for an S one of these. It was exhausting. All freighter build parts are unlocked and I have a massive farm inside to hoard resources. About 3 more harvests and I'll demolish it and start actually building artfully and make a coherent planned farm on the ship. Tech is fully researched besides the emeril and indium drives. Given the emeril bottleneck I'm not too concerned about this. I am really glad to be almost done scanning every NPC freighter and guild mission list for SFMs.

All in all it's been a great time so far. I am leaving for two weeks now though and Worlds2 should be dropping the week I get back and it will be nice exploring the update on this gimped file. Per datamined info, we are getting at least 2 new land biomes, 5 or 7 water biomes, a shitload of new flora and fauna assets, there's a whole new stellar class (everything in these systems is dissonant; they're bringing some of the phantom stars out to handle this) with a new stellar resource and it looks really sick.

In case you don't know, Runescape died a while ago. This is Runescape's second chance. When they pushed the game into the new RS3 engine, added MTX, then the Combat Evolved update, the game just flatlined. They got desperate and decided to do an event where they rebooted the game, exactly as it was in 2007. Fresh start, clean slate, everyone gets to play like they're a kid again.

Then it stuck. People were having fun and OSRS overtook RS3 in popularity. Well, you can't just close the fricking thing when it's making you six figures a month all of a sudden.

So what they did is promise to not frick it up again? They put everybody's minds at ease that they wouldn't surprise players with bad updates again. Every update would be passed by democracy. Polls and poll items for every single change, and those changes MUST have a super majority (either 66% or 75%, it's really high).

This is the level of specificity that exists in these polls. Every single change, pre-announced, discussed, polled, then implemented only with a huge majority.

Guess what change wasn't polled? All the strag shit. Because the OSRS players don't want strag shit. They don't want strag capes, they don't want strag pronouns, they don't want Body Type A/B, they don't want 15 year old quests changed so you don't have to marry a prince or princess opposite your gender.

Jagex doesn't care. "Frick you, losers! Eat our fat r-slurred British peepees! You invested tens of thousands of hours into our product and have paid us thousands over decades since you were old enough to beg your mom for her credit card, but eat shit!!! frick you!!!!"
