good evening !bookworms! so The Idiot and Culture of Narcissism were tied, and I have decided that we will follow @neoconshill's protocol and read The Idiot first, and Lasch will be the book we read next unless y'all complain about it, in which case we will not lolz. I am excited and I hope you are too!
tentative chapter breakdown!
so this book has four parts. we will do our best to get through one part per week, which might be a little intense so we can play that by ear. i'm a little concerned for those of us non-NEETs, so we may need to persevere and extend bookclub may through to june, as this is probably going to be a LOT of material considering we're dealing w/ russian lit i am stupid for nominating this book, i never said i was bright. for now, this is how we will break this down:
Week 1: read Part 1 (Ch 1-16): read 2ish ch/day if you can, if not that's fine lol
Week 2: read Part 2 (Ch 1-12): read 2ish ch/day
Week 3: read Part 3 (Ch 1-10): read 2ish ch/day
Week 4: read Part 4 (Ch 1-12): read 2ish ch/day
i am mildly concerned that those of us who are not !verifiedhot will have a tough time w/ this schedule so I will leave it up to y'all to dive in and decide if this schedule/book works. this is a club and i am not your mother. vote/complain/discuss below. i lowkey would be fine w/ reading Atomised or one of the Mishima books instead, but that's your call. have a great night/day, sorry this is lazy i'm high i love you

I have no nostalgia for my childhood. A lot of my fellow zoomers started jerking off to how good things were on the late 90s/early 00s. That all the music that came out then was better, and that the games that came out were the best.
I hate 2000s media. It makes me think of being a social outcast loser. I'm still one, but at least nobody cares anymore. I hate Minecraft. It makes me remember all the times my friends would play without me.
Is this an !incels thing or just a me thing.

Had nothing planned so just pretended to watch like 10 hours of CE credit courses that I've seen a dozen times while pretty fricking drunk drinking some douchey IPA from a growler I got gifted a few weeks ago. Got pretty drunk and forgot how many I actually needed but just started them on my laptop and spent like an hour doing quizzes and just watched Rick and Morty on my TV.
How was your Thursday?

Copy pasting the first part of this so lazy girlies don't have to experience the stress of !clinklickers
As the sheen on dating apps dulls, more Americans are reporting bad experiences on them. Frustrated by bots, subscription costs and high effort-to-reward ratios, Gen Z is fleeing the apps in hope of real-life meet-cutes. Earlier this year, βBustleβ declared that dating apps are in their βflop era.β
Not all of the apps are taking this backlash without a fight. On Tuesday, after months of internal shake-ups and stock market woes, Bumble took a shot at winning back hearts and minds with a redesign, which includes a break with the app's requirement that women make the first move.
A new feature, which the company has called βOpening Moves,β allows women to place on their profiles a question, like βWhat is your dream vacation?,β to which men who match can respond. (In nonbinary and same-gender matches, both sides can include these prompts.)
The shift is a major one for Bumble. Until now, a man who matched with a woman on the app had to wait for her to message him. If she did not initiate a conversation, the match would expire after 24 hours.
Whitney Wolfe Herd founded Bumble in 2014 because of her own personal experiences. She said that the idea was to give women more control. βI had a series of bad relationships, and I felt I was controlled by a man,β she added, βwhether it was: Don't wear this or, You can't hang out with this person or, You need to be home at this time.β
But over the years, Bumble received feedback from women who found that making the first move was βa lot of workβ or βa burden,β and Ms. Wolfe Herd began thinking about how to release the pressure. Opening Moves, she said, is a result of that process, a way to let women maintain control while not feeling the stress of initiating all of the conversations.
But not copying the whole thing because The Gray Lady be a notoriously litigious b-word.

I don't actually know a lot about this show, but I think I could take all of them, all at once. And not in a self-defense situation.

The Fresno River Viaduct in Madera County is one of the first completed high-speed rail structures. At nearly 1,600 feet long, high-speed trains will travel over the riverbed and will run parallel with the BNSF Railroad. #BuildHSR pic.twitter.com/zWqusPbOB9
