As most of you will probably know already Astral Codex Ten formerly Slatestarcodex is a blog run by Scott Alexander. The paper of record has called it Silicon Valley's Safe Space. Our partner site theMotte, is a community of connected to it and it's an influential blog.

Today Scott posted a Classified thread, where people could look for job opportunities and advertise their own stuff. I normally don't read the comments, but there was a section called dating that intrigued me. Some readers link to their so called Dating Docs. Think of them as a longer form OkCupid page. They're usually a little cringe, but also endearing and many words have been spilled about them.

But this post is not about them, a certain comment caught my attention.

At first glance this looks a troll post, like why does he want his wife to shave her head?

But after some digging , I'm inclined to believe it's a serious post.

The comment was posted shortly after the blog post was published, the poster provides a long list of math and coding competitions he either one or placed near the top in, and I was able to confirm that someone with the name he provides won them. Actually very impressive.

He also linked to a txt file called Productivity.txt, let's have a gander and answer why he wants his future wife to shave her head.

His main obsession appears to be the elimination of all smells.

He wants to cover most surfaces in his home with aluminium foil and build a house of very specific specifications.

You might have noticed that he always writes 0 instead of zero, but he explains that as well.

There's a lot of general autism, very specific food intake, a particular work out routine.

What appears to be a list of every single thing he owns.

Now let's get to the fun stuff, his love quest. If you read the first screenshot, you will have noticed that he's looking for a special someone.

She not only needs to be successful at math competition, but also shave her head to avoid unnecessary odours.

This split the original inhabitants of /r/worldnews in 2 portions, as Ukraine was so very obviously the underdog, in this David-VS-Goliath situation against the (at the moment of invasion) Russia which was expected to steamroll their way to Kiev in the 1st month. Because the original purpose of /r/animetitties was to give the anti-jerk response to places like /r/worldnews, that purpose had sort of been negated, and people who had been booted of off places like /r/worldnews (downvoted into oblivion or banned) would search for new homes, and quickly /r/anime-titties would basically become a homebase or whatever. But even then, /r/animetitties would be a even handed battleground where vatzigs and anti-western leftoids or people who just hated america/WE would constantly SEE I TOLD YOU GUYS SO, UKRAINE AND MAINSTREAM MEDIA WAS LYING. It's very tiresome. War is chaos, and even people who sincerely believe they are going to win, can sometimes face a different reality. Back pre-June 2023, Ukraine was gearing up for a major offensive to push Russia all the way back into Crimea, and perhaps even lock them off from the landbridge. Long story short, the offensive was a disaster, with enormous casualties for Ukraine, and a loss of lots of hardware. Up until June 2023, Ukraine had been steadily winning minor victories, with yearlong drone footage of Vatzigs being slaughtered by homebought drones dropping grenades, and both they and their benefactors like Burgerland believed Ukraine would destroy (if not without casualties) the russians handily.

But Ukraine and burgerland had underestimated just how large the russian manpower reserves, artillery reserves, and most significantly of that particular offensive, the amount of minefields russia could deploy.

3 factors would change the tune of the war in the June 2023 offensive. Up until now RUssia had been bleeding untrained men faster than they could have them survive and become veterans, yet by June 2023, a large enough core of men of the surviving russian army had grown through conscription and survival at the front, that a vast veteran force was now facing Ukraine in June 2023 - a far cry from the arrogant bumblefricks in Feb-March 2022 who literally drove armored columns to their doom, and ran to their deaths into machine gun nests. This new veteran force had learned through the sheer force of Darwinism to employ deadlier tactics, better artillery offensive and defensive tactics, and the incompetence of Russian leadership was not as much of a soft factor anymore.

The russians had also managed to unfrick their supply problems, and being on the defensive meant that they were no longer reliant on a supply column vulnerable to ATGM weapons. So the russians could utilize their superior traditional artillery army to its full capacity, as it had not been used before, and blew the attacking Ukrainians into shit

Lastly, minefields would be utilized to a massive extent, and the russians could forcefully funnel Ukrainians into killing zones for vehicles and men

THE WAR GOES BAD FOR UKRAINE:

Many believe that it's the western allies' failure to have supplied the Ukrainians before the June 2023 offensive with proper main-battle tanks like Abrams and Leopords, which sapped the momentum out of the Ukrainian army, because before June 2023, the war was still slow and grinding, but it had been in favor deceisively into the hands of the Ukrainians. To put things into videogayme terms so you lot can understand, because real life war is complex and messy and chaotic: before the invasion, Russia would outnumber the Ukrainains by a factor of 3, in terms of fieldable manpower, and the Ukrainians DID dashingly kill the russians and their hardware by a stunning factor of 3:1, mostly due to the stupidity of the Russian blitzkrieg in the opening months of the war, but also because Russia struggled to reinforce their initial invasion force with trained and competent men fast enough to become veterans,

Well basically that worst fear would be slowly realized post July 2023, as the failed offensive, and the lost of irreplaceable Ukrainian men, meant Russia had finally been given the breathing space to train replacmentsfully, and to let their wartime economy output millions of traditional artillery shells on a scale in which the Ukrainians could not compete, and which their Benefacctors, the EU and burgerland, could not match in terms of replacing spent shells and missiles.

Even the spectacular HIMARS missile technology are dwarfed in terms of the sheer scale in which Ukraine and Russia are having daily frontline artillery duels over their trenches - where both sides use a mixture of shoot and scoot tactics in conjunction with drones to try and kill each other's artillery before the other can - and russia is winning the bloody grindfest through sheer attrition. South African police and BOSS operatives arrested her in 1969 under the Suppression of Terrorism Act, and she spent more than a year in solitary confinement, where she was abused during interrogations for whereabouts of ANC insurgent group's locations (freedom fighters from the eyes of the ANC and most black peeps), because as you can guess, she was the wife of one of the top-ANC leaders of the country, and her political activism made BOSS believe she was culpable and in-the-know of the whereabouts of ANC bombers who were frequently terrorizing schools, public buildings, police stations, in order to pressure the NP regime to end Apartheid.

"Police raids on her home were as often as four times a day. She was banned from leaving her home at night and was later restricted from leaving her neighborhood in the Soweto Township of Johannesburg." All of this would culminate in BOSS just basically throwing her in solitary confinement in 1969. The irony in this was that she wasn't "innocent". She really was "guilty" of being a waylay of messages between ANC splinter cell bomber groups targeting civilian structure - and of course depending on the race and politcs of who you speak to, this made the treatment against her valid or not.

WINNIE AND HER COMMENTS ON NECKLACING: (Yes, the RSA version of necklacing)

It's important to understand why the whole black population didn't just arise overnight, all the way back in 1950, and slaughter the whole white population of SA like Haiti. If you read only modern school curriculum history books, then some unflattering details about the ANC history will be left out. You see while a large majority of the black population did support the overthrow of the Apartheid government, there was intense disagreements regarding what should follow, all the way as far back as the 1950s.

You see, the most powerful black group was the ANC (The African-National-Congress), BUT they were a communist faction, and more significantly, they were a communist faction supported by Cuba and the Soviet Union. As such, the most significant part of South African history which foreigners do NOT know, is that the ANC was not the ONLY group to oppose Apartheid, or acted as a political activist organization.

And that is because of intense bitter political rivalries between these various factions evolved as to what political, economic and racial policy aught to succeed the white government. The ANC was opposed by many weaker factions for different reasons. Some wanted South Africa to carved up as originally intended all the ways back in 1910, where each racial group had their own homeland, before the NP regime relegated this ideal into forcing black peeps into suboptimal reserves instead of equally land divided by racial distribution.

Other factions were right-wing, capitalists or just really fricking hated and feared communism. It might surprise many fools to know that not everybody in the various ethnicities of black peeps in SA got along politically, and didn't all one day wake up, and agree that communism was the optimal way forward, and got along singing and dancing like hippies in a unified black front against the evil white government

Instead the reality was far more brutal, as disagreement led to violence akin to gang warfare and inter- and intra-faction assassination, many non-communists would enact violence against ANC members, and the ANC would respond in kind.

The closest point of reference for you guys who are not South African to understand, is the French resistance against the 3rd Reich during WW2. If you read media portraying the accounts of the valiant resistance members by the French themselves, then you would come away with a false impression that the French resistance actually mattered in any great deal for the duration of the war. The reality was far more disappointing. Even taking in partisan harassment of Wehrmacht supply and troops into account, the french resistance vastly underperformed, when compared to places like the Balkans, where the proto-Yugoslav partisans basically threw out the Wehrmacht before the Soviets even arrived, or Greece or the entire Eastern Europe.

This wasn't a lack of will for the French, but massive political disunity between french partisans. Great factionalism divided french efforts, which made British supplies airdropped into Frans always fought over, like dogs over scraps. There were a myriad of political parties bickering on what the french regime aught to look like once the Nazis had been deposed, and once again the singular largest partisan faction, were the communists, even though they didn't hold a majority on numbers, and were pretty much despised by all the other competing factions.

It took until the Western allies opening a Western Front with conventional armies, and the liberation of France to actually end this fractionalism, after which Eisenhower and De Gaulle ruthlessly stamped out all communist splinter cells lol

A similar factionalism plagued all anti-Apartheid groups in SA. Both for peaceful activist groups, and terrorism and bombing groups. Eventually the ANC would get an upper hand slowly as the decades progressed, again because they had the Soviets as benefactors, and their opposition had nothing, except arms and armaments traded by similarly minded right-wing or anti-communist groups over the borders of Mozambique and Namibia.

As the ANC gradually became the overwhelming dominant group, many anti-communist black groups would even go so far as to work FOR the Apartheid regime, in the sense that they would rat out ANC members, or forewarn the police of impending bombs on hospitals, schools or train-stations. And of course sometimes there were many black peeps who had loyalty to their white employers, even as they were treated as 2nd class citizens, whom would also forewarn the national police (whom were all white and acted in suppression passively) against bombing attacks or ambushes.

Through its dominancy, the ANC splinter cells would employ brutality to destroy its ideological enemies, and warm off any black citizens from working with the white authorities. One of the most famous of these torture-execution methods, was Necklacing

Even as far back as 1986, Winnie Mandela would earn controversy amongst the various black communities in South Africa. The ANC splinter groups would seldom officially acknowledge that they had done a hit on a "race-traitor" or opponent to communism. Her name was Maki Skosana, and the world watched in horror as anti-apartheid activists wrapped her up in a car tire, doused her with gasoline, and set her on fire. For most of the world, her screams of agony were their first experience with the public execution South Africans called “necklacing.”

It's a part of South African history we usually don't talk about. This was the weapon of the men and women who fought against apartheid in South Africa; the people who rose up in arms with Nelson Mandela to turn their country into a place where they would be treated as equals.

They were fighting for a good cause and so history can gloss over some of the dirty details. Without guns and weapons to match the strength of the state, they used what they had to send their enemies a message — no matter how horrible it was.

Necklacing was a fate reserved for traitors. Few, if any, white men died with a car tire around necks. Instead, it would be members of the black community, usually ones who swore they were part of the fight for freedom but who had lost the trust of their friends.

Maki Skosana‘s death was the first to be filmed by a news crew. Her neighbors had become convinced that she was involved in an explosion that killed a group of young activists. The rest of the African National Congress, though, didn't share his dedication. Other than making a few comments for the record, they didn't do much to stop it. Behind closed doors, they saw necklacing informants as a justifiable evil in a great fight for good.

Though the A.N.C. spoke out against it on paper, Nelson Mandela's wife, Winnie Mandela, publically and openly cheered the mobs on. As far as she was concerned, necklacing wasn't just a justifiable evil. It was the weapon that would win South Africa's freedom.

“We have no guns – we have only stone, boxes of matches and petrol,” she once told a crowd of cheering followers. “Together, hand-in-hand, with our boxes of matches and our necklaces we shall liberate this country.”

Her words made the A.N.C. nervous. They were willing to look the other way and let this happen, but they had an international PR war to win. Winnie was putting that in jeopardy.

Hundreds died this way with tires around their necks, fire searing their skin, and the smoke of burning tar choking their lungs. During the worst years, between 1984 and 1987, anti-apartheid activists burned 672 people alive, half of them through necklacing.

It took a psychological toll. American photographer Kevin Carter, who had taken one of the first pictures of a live necklacing, ended up blaming himself for what was happening.

That same year, South Africa held its first equal and open elections. The fight to end apartheid was finally over. However, even though the enemy was gone, the brutality of the fight didn't go away.

Necklacing lived on as a way of taking out male feminists and thieves. In 2015, a group of five teenage boys was necklaced for getting in a bar fight. In 2018, a pair of men were killed for a suspected theft.

And those are just a few examples. Today, five percent of the murders in South Africa are the result of vigilante justice, often committed through necklacing.

The justification they use today is a chilling echo of what they said in the 1980s. “It does reduce crime,” one man told a reporter after burning a suspected robber alive. “People are scared because they know the community will rise against them.”

In 1997, her bodyguard from the 1980s, Jerry Richardson, told South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Committee that he beat, tortured and killed people whenever she told him to. His boss sometimes participated in the beatings, Richardson said. Madikizela-Mandela denied the murder allegations, but later apologized to the families of two of the victims. She was convicted and sentenced to six years in prison for two of the deaths, but the sentence was reduced to a fine on appeal.

When she returned she found that her neighbourhood had become more dangerous with the youth running riots and the government imposing a state of emergency. In an effort to help those caught up in the chaos, Winnie established the Mandela United Football Club (MUFC) for the disenfranchised youth.

Sadly, this group is most remembered for their vigilante activities.

The most well known of these was the story of Stompie Seipei. In 1988 Stompie was a 14 year old activist who was in the company of the MUFC when he disappeared one day. His body was later found on the outskirts of Soweto. He had been badly beaten and eventually killed with gardening shears.

Winnie was surrounded with controversy due to her links with the Mandela United Football Club (MUFC) and their activities. It seems as though years of harassment, emotional trauma and the experiences of prison and banishment had hardened Winnie and she came to be seen as a kind of soldier on the ground.

It was rumored that her approach was becoming more violent and military driven. In one of her famous speeches, Winnie declared, “together, hand in hand, with our boxes of matches and our necklaces we shall liberate this country.

” This has been said to be in reference to the practice of ‘necklacing', a torture and execution method of forcing a tyre over someone's chest and setting it alight. It is said that Winnie endorsed the practice in her speech and was linked to many necklacing incidents.

She also retracted any apology she gave: "I am not sorry. I will never be sorry. I would do everything I did again if I had to. Everything."

She referred to Archbishop Desmond Tutu, in his capacity as the head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, as a "cretin" This was because ArchBishop Desmond Tutu raked her balls over the fire over her involvement with her soccer club's murder of the 14-year old boy Stompie evidently she was still assblasted about Tutu forcing an apology out of her towards the family of the victim

Has anyone noticed that their male partners respond better if you just ask for the thing you need with no context or explanation than they do if you explain why it's important to you and your relationship? Im an r-slur but they don't care about what you're feeling, and just want a checklist.

I've been fed up with by boyfriend for not doing certain things for most of our relationship (texting me first, planning dates, complimenting me, etc.), and it wasn't uncommon for me to break down crying begging him to just send me a sweet message once a day, or plan a date, or give me a compliment more specific than "you're cute".

I always see men complain that women communicate poorly, so to avoid being that girl I'd always explain what I'm feeling, why i feel that way, and what I'd like to change going forward. I've been told in very articulate and an amazing communicator by my therapist, parents, friends, bosses, etc. so I know it wasn't a lack of conveying the right idea on my end. Sometimes he'd respond by shutting down completely and then I'd have to comfort him, reassuring him that I love him and I just need this one relatively minor thing to feel satisfied in our relationship. Other times he'd say he understands and wants to do better, but then nothing would ever change for more than a day or two.

One day I was feeling really sad and uncared for because he'd been spending every free hour he had playing final fantasy (over 100hrs in 2 weeks) for the past 2 weeks, but I didn't have the energy to have another rough conversion where I'm being very vulnerable, begging for a basic need, and then having him stonewall me. I decided I just wouldn't, so I texted him "can we go on a real date tomorrow?" He just said "yeah!" and planned us a really nice date.

I told my mom about this and she said that my dad was the same and she'd beg him to help with me and my sisters but he'd just shut down, or ignore her, or complain, until a friend of hers said "try making a to-do list." She wrote one and he did everything on it without complaining. After she started putting it on a list and asking without expressing any emotion, he did closer to his fair share.

On one hand, I'm hoping that realizing this will help me communicate better with my partner. On the other hand, if you love someone, wouldn't you be more motivated to do something if you know it's important to him?

The clarification means that the right to a single-s*x ward means patients would “not have to share sleeping accommodation with patients of the opposite biological s*x”.

Until now, no commitment was made to biological s*x, meaning some female patients complained that they were forced to share sleeping space with trans women – those who are born male but identify as female.

The updates to the constitution will also include the introduction of a duty to help patients get back to work and embed “Martha's Rule” into the framework of the health service.

This follows pledges by Victoria Atkins, the Health Secretary, to give families the right to access a rapid review from an outside team if a patient is deteriorating. It is named after 13-year-old Martha Mills, who died in 2021 after medics missed signs of sepsis and failed to heed warnings from her parents that their daughter's condition was getting worse.

Women will also be given the right to request that intimate care is provided, where reasonably possible, by someone of the same biological s*x.

It follows warnings that some female patients have been pressured into accepting such care from trans-identifying staff who were born male.

The proposed changes will also see discrimination requirements updated, with the word gender replaced with s*x.

Gender reassignment remains a protected characteristic, meaning that a transgender patient could be given their own room in a hospital to protect their right to a single-s*x service.

The document also places a duty on health providers to use “clear terms” to communicate and take account of biological differences. It follows pledges from ministers to stop NHS trusts using terms like “chestfeeding” and “people who give birth”.

In February, Ms Atkins highlighted her concerns, telling The Telegraph: “We need to be making this robust case to refuse to wipe women out of the conversation.”

On Tuesday, she said: “We want to make it abundantly clear that if a patient wants same-s*x care they should have access to it wherever reasonably possible.

“We have always been clear that s*x matters and our services should respect that.

“By putting this in the NHS constitution we're highlighting the importance of balancing the rights and needs of all patients to make a healthcare system that is faster, simpler and fairer for all.”

Maya Forstater, chief executive of gender critical group S*x Matters, said: “It is excellent news that the NHS constitution is being revised to put ‘s*x' in its rightful place – at the heart of principle 1, which sets out that the NHS must treat everyone with equality and respect for their human rights.

“The confusion between ‘s*x' and ‘gender' in official policies like the NHS constitution is what has enabled women's rights to be trampled over in the name of transgender identities.

“S*x, of course, is a matter of biology, not identity, and it is welcome that the NHS is now spelling this out in relation to single-s*x accommodation and intimate care.”

Ms Forstater said too many female patients seeking that intimate care be given by a woman had been pressured into accepting a trans-identifying male instead.

“Healthcare providers have become confused and frightened by the idea that a gender recognition certificate, or even just a personal identity claim, overrides other people's rights when it comes to same-s*x care from healthcare professionals.”

She said the shift was “simply a return to common sense and an overdue recognition that women's wellbeing and safety matter.”

Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, which represents healthcare leaders, said its members would review the proposals in detail.

However, he added: “What is absolutely clear at this stage is that a focus on high-quality care for all is maintained and that the NHS is not dragged into a pre-election culture wars debate. This is not where energies should be focused.”

Mr Taylor said staff worked hard to show fairness and compassion towards all patients.

“In particular, groups of people, including trans and non-binary patients, continue to receive some of the worst health outcomes of any group in our society and NHS leaders and staff will want to do all they can to support these patients, as well as their trans and non-binary staff to reduce inequalities.

“Whatever changes are eventually introduced following the consultation need to be clear and workable for NHS staff, who should not expect to have to interpret ambiguous guidance at a local level.”

The eight-week consultation will be the first stage of a review of the constitution.

The Government will consider responses from everyone, including the public, clinicians and medical professionals, patients, carers and organisations representing patients and staff and health stakeholders, before publishing the consultation response and the new NHS constitution.

Louise Ansari, chief executive of Healthwatch England said: “The NHS constitution plays a crucial role in shaping the culture of our NHS and helping the public to know their rights.

“Since the NHS constitution launched, it has helped to shift the balance of power from services towards patients and their families. But, with only a third of people knowing their rights, there is still a long way to go.

“Given the challenges our NHS faces, a conversation to reaffirm and raise awareness of the most important rights to the public has never been more timely.

“We urge everyone to take part in the consultation and have their say. This is your opportunity to send a clear message about the rights you hold most dear.”
