I have played a large number of these games and am enjoying the combat so far. Though its a pretty simple system all of the classes play pretty different and are interesting in their own ways. The small number of classes makes it seem like i will eventually just be playing the same 4 or whatever base classes with minor differences between them. I'm playing on the recommend difficulty mostly due to bad memories from kingmaker but it does seem a little oh the easy side.

I'm playing on the second hardest difficulty and it oscillates between stupid easy and having to save scum every 5 seconds to account for RNG.
I want to wait for a balance patch but I'm engrossed in the story.

Yeah there have been a fights that seemed disproportionately more difficult than others, though on the recommend difficulty that usually just means a person or two goes down. The combat doesn't really seem interesting enough for me to care to turn up the difficulty personally. I'm enjoying it for what it is now.

Disco Elysium. Playing a high PHYS and MOT build where all the skills are totally schizo (shivers,perception,savoire faire,half life,physical instrument) for the fascist ending. Pretty fun so far. Lots of dialogue I haven't seen with these skills.

These are the schizo skills if you want some kino dialogue, Inland Empire specifically as it allows to perceive the supernatural and argue with your tie as another character. Electrochemistry doesn't have a lot of utility but it's fun to roleplay as a burned out druggie with it. The game is quite easy to powerlevel with select perks if gotten on the 1st day. Focus on getting Actual Art Degree and Jamais Vu that give extra exp on every skill check passed. (These are every conceptualization checks and every dialogue prompt you can click)
However a lot of stuff can be revealed if you fail skill checks, that open alternate routes or new quests. Being too good at everything ironically blocks some stuff off but you want to just play through it once those skills are entertaining and those perks allow you to powerlevel all skills quite early.

Alan wake 2
Minus the slow start and trve nordish finnish black viking its pretty good. Imma be real as much as i love remedy i dont like actually playing alan wake 1 but this one is better so far. Control has the exact opposite problem where I love the gameplay, worldbuilding, and optional lore notes but the main story and central characters are so fricking bad its unreal.

Dishonored 2, 9 hours playtime now and I don't actually enjoy the game. It's fascinating just how thoroughly Arkane messed up the sequel of the greatest games of the 2010s. Everything about it from the level design to the story to way we explore what's happening in the world comes off as people without any talent trying to replicate something great without understanding it.

God, I fricking loved Dishonored 1 and lack the words to truly express how disappointed I am with the direction they took for 2. I think the biggest thing for me was that Corvo's story was nicely wrapped up in 1, they'd left plenty of little plot hooks and jumping off points for new characters, and instead went back to Corvo and made the ending of the first meaningless.

I've gotten to the second to last mission and considering giving up as well. Constant bullshit about how cool Delilah is, how smart Delilah is, how powerful Delilah is, every fricking line is desperately trying to talk up this b-word whose most impressive feat as far as I remember was convincing one of Daud's gas masks to tell the Overseers his location and bitching at him from on top of a building when that plan falls through. None of these info-dumps are necessary, none of her power is ever actually demonstrated to the player beyond turning someone into a statue, it's all just told to us and we're supposed to just accept it as true.
Final straw for me was The Outsider with his shitty new flailing model, awful new voice, and hollowed out characterization dedicating a full 5 minutes to monologue about how he was just some random dude who got sacrificed 4000 years ago and, by the way, Delilah is super resourceful and very smart.
Comparison between the old and the new, this shit really got under my skin.

Set the graphics to basic or low, and see how much your FPS goes up.
Basically, disable everything special and then put stuff back on one-by-one or small sets. It's gotta be some weird setting like ULTRA REAL SHADOWS or something that's holding ya back.

JUST TURN OFF RAYTRACING.
I get 95fps with it off. 45 with it on.
With everything else set to max, you stop noticing the lack of cool reflections in a few minutes.

They don't make non-RTX cards.
I have a 3070 and I would have preferred a $100 cheaper option that has the same raster performance but just can't do the dumb RTX gimmick. I've not played a single game where the ray traced lighting is better-er enough that it actually improved the picture more than it tanked the frame penalty.
We've spent the past 30 years of game development learning how to convincingly fake real lighting, and it's at the point where it's good enough for me.
