Skyrim is pretty lame mechanically but its quantity of things to do makes it hugely fun. Anywhere you go, there's something to do. Tons of side quests you'll never see when doing any main story, and lots of random caves and forts that don't even have a quest tied to them. I haven't played too many open world games but I honestly doubt many are better than Skyrim.

Most side content is way too repetitive, obviously some side quests are great. Auto-scaling of random enemies is shit and kills any immersion. Story was meh over time (at the start fun). A game that needs mods to be great is not a great game.

It only auto-scales to an extent. Unlike Oblivion, the lower-level enemies will still be around and even the stronger enemies have a cap to how far they'll level. The Dragon Priests are the enemies that will level the highest.
As for the 'radiant quest' stuff, best practice is just to pick up a few of them to tick off along the way to your next proper location. They should have done a better job in separating the different tiers of quests in the quest log.

I think it's better than Oblivion and that's probably somewhat of a hot take nowadays but Oblivion really only has the better magic system and better guild quests going for it in my opinion.
Gaymers like to complain that Skyrim is too streamlined but Oblivion was too other than the r-slurred leveling system where you kind of had to min/max it somewhat.

The plan for this year is to finish all the unplayed games in my Steam library. Fortunately, there are only five left, but even that will be a challenge:
I also have a few unfinished games in my library that I haven't finished yet for various reasons, which I also want to finish in 2024, namely:
Chrono Trigger [2 hours currently / 2024]: Shame me however you want but I have actually never played this. It doesn't seem to be overly long so there's a very high chance I'll get to the credits eventually. Who knows?
Cuphead [12.5 hours currently / 2023]: I just have to beat the final boss, but somehow I lack motivation after the actual story-based boss (King Dice) has already gone down. Also, the most difficult boss here is by far the stupid dragon. It must have taken me 3 hour just for that.
Devil May Cry HD Collection [13 hours currently / 2023]: I've finished DMC 1 and DMC 2 (both Dante and Lucia), and now all that's missing is DMC 3.
Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition [19 hours currently / 2024]: I love to play this when I'm watching something. It's braindead easy but very relaxing. I need to finish the Wei/Jin story modes and whatever content there is in the conquest and legend mode. Thank god this edition has all the available DLC content so there are a lot of old stages, character outfits and fun weapons. Nevertheless, it's not as good as the grandiose DW 8 XLCE but it's a fun little time waster.
Shadowrun Dragonfall [14.5 hours currently / 2022]: This game crashed TWICE in the same lengthy battle and I didn't feel like doing it all again. Uninstalled and now it stares relentlessly at me in eternal agony of being unfinished. It's not easy being an neurodivergent.
I suppose I'll be busy the entire year with these 10 games. Other than that, I plan to reach 20k rating in CS2 (should be doable but I'm terrible at this shitty version of the game) and hold Dia/Emerald in League (finished placements on the last day going 5/0 on my beloved Janna even though everyone shittalks you as ancient when they see you have victorious skin which came out like what 10 years ago that's not even that long) while playing arams with friends whenever I guess.

Facility is the best level by miles unless you include the hidden two I think. Egyptian is miserable (or maybe I just have childhood ptsd) but Aztec fricking rules. Pretty much every level is either great or an interesting concept though, I still think Frigate is really cool with the hostages. Although I'm now doing everything on Secret Agent and I'm getting really pissed off at the hostages

The problem with Facility I had as a little kid is I couldn't always restrain myself from shooting the scientists in the butt. D: I don't remember too much of the hidden levels. Is Aztec the one with the space shuttle? I seem to recall Egyptian being a nightmare to navigate.
I think Surface 1/Bunker 1 is my favorite, because they're tied together thematically but also combine a big, open level and a tight, maze-like one... also you can just blast all but one person.

I think having no real ending and supplementing it with new game plus really dampens the experience. There is no variety between the universes outside of Richard and Mortimer tier scenarios about the entirety of Constellation being made out of clones of your character or having Sarah Morgan be a plant instead of an r-slur (no Trumpisatva no!!!), but the rest of the world is the same. There is no universe where the UC won the war or where House Va'ruun has a bigger presence so there is no incentive to explore them outside of increasing your power at the temples, which is arguably the worst aspect of the game. Roleplay goes out the window too, if I know I can reset the world and my choices have no impact so my character actually behaves as an actual player, aware of how simulated and futile the world around them is. Honestly, makes Starfield one of the most postmodernist rpgs out there, just below Disco Elysium.
I remember the days when development/creation kits were shipped with the games on their discs. You could mod Morrowind and Oblivion as soon as you got your hands on them

What Act of RT are you in? My enthusiasm started to stall in Act 3, and I've been slowly grinding that out half an hour at a time. Big fan of the game, but Act 3 is very monotonous and very combat heavy, which is fitting for its setting. Thankfully 3 is a much shorter act than 2.

One of your characters probably has a bugged interaction in that zone. I'd try not bringing anybody when you load into the area if you haven't already.
This mod gives you a lot of cowtools that you can use to fix bugs as well. It'll let you force load zones and skip areas.

I've been playing Mashinky and Risk of Rain 2, mostly. Anyone know if there's an actually good space based 4x? I've tried everything in my library, but nothing's as good as Stellaris, and Stellaris is dogshit. I guess Sins of a Solar Empire is good too, but it's much more limited in scope.

Got every ABCD ending of 1, talking with some friends I missed a bit in 1 but mostly little stuff. The only thing left for me ishigh sin really.
In 2 I got the C ending, and have experienced thea bunch of confidents going insane and or getting murdered . I am still trying to figure out why that happens (don't spoil me)
IMO the most interesting parts of 1 occur right before the endings, IE in Chaving to murder most of your party members and in D letting Bahamout into the hub ruins everything, also her requiring you to kill prayer master having to kill alice was a very interesting touch for C.
Also I picked Snow White.
I'm still not exactly sure what "SEN" is in BS2, but I'm suspicious of it now.

It's very easy bro, just follow the railroaded story.
Also, there are mils and civs from what I remember, they just supplement to all the other stuff you can build, most of it useless in TNO.
Anyway, if you wanna win just spam out helicopter divisions, the game isn't exactly hard since it wants you to win so you can read their epic events. The only hard thing in the mod is playing as Long in china.
Economy is as simple as maxing out the lines.

The best mods are for multiplayer because Hoi4 is not a good game.
BICE is better in hoi3, otherwise the mods CADC listed are okay, most newer single player mods are way too bloated (see any redux mod).

Elden ring has been really fun, but fire giant was so shit. Only boss which forced me to pull out mimic tear, incants and npcs summons to beat him.
Elden beast is an absolute b-word as well, really pissing off fighting him after radagon who is a great boss. And godskin duo is overhyped for being really hard and unfair, just fricking split them with the pillars and kill one at a time not that hard.
