Miss flash games, there were so many hits lost to time. Used to play them after school nearly every day in the computer lab at the after school camp I used to go to when I was in elementary school. Trying to rack my brain for the best of all time. Spend most of my time on addictinggames or miniclip
Motherload was probably my favourite, we had a version without saves so I would try to get as far as I could before my parents came.
Stick rpg complete. Tons of fun, very edgy for 10 year old me. Had tons of content way more than most flash games of the time.
Happy wheels was great, lots of fun levels.
Max dirt bike, Bloons tower defense, world's hardest game, icy tower are all games I remember fondly. Also like 200000 unoriginal stick figure games. They probably weren't as good as I remember but to 10 year old me those were the peak of gaming.

Check out Flashpoint! Most classic flash games have been archived and can be played from one launcher. Many of them hold up really well.
I'm glad that there are more ways to make money from creative work online now, but I still miss the days when people would make games just because they had neat ideas and wanted to share them with people. Pretty much no amateur developer makes cool shit for free anymore. They either want to be failed $19.99 indieslop #37743236 on Steam, failed phoneslop #66336754 on the app store, or they're running a porn game grift on Patreon.

Yeah the death of flash was a big blow to people sharing cool small projects they made. Nerds will say that html5 is just as capable but it's clear that it didn't pan out for the people actually making cool flash games since none of them made the transition.

Yeah, I think the issue is more of economics and culture. Anyone could make games like the kind you'd find on Newgrounds in 2005, but there are few/no places to find such things, no community around them, and the people with the talent to make them are almost invariably making profit-chasing slop (that fails anyway).
Crazy to think how many hours of entertainment I got from random teenagers/students fricking around with pirate copies of Flash. They were real games to me. RIP

That's a fair take, there's probably more creative works out in general just behind a paywall. I have no idea of the quality since I refuse to pay $10 for a short game of unknown quality from random nobody.
