I enjoyed it but I found that the guns, while fun, didn't offer the same level of synergy and interaction that Isaac does. That's what I'll say it's missing, while it has better combat than Isaac, the rest of the gameplay is weaker.

every modern console game is a "twin stick", and most of these games are played on PC anyway which doesn't have joysticks. Might be up there with MMO for worst name for a genre of all time

It's to set it apart from a regular shmup which is single stick, the stick doesn't have to be literal, a HitBox is still a stick.
The one thing that defines them is that you control both where your character is going AND where he looks.

It's within shmup, as I said in the first paragraph lmao. It's a not an r-slur label unless you can't abstract game genres from each other. Like anime games specifically referring to anime fighting games like guilty gear

Honestly I felt the difficulty of each level to be too inconsistent. Also the bosses varied wildly with how fun they were to fight. Game was good for the time but so many better games exist now.
