This week, let's discuss the Street Fighter IV series. Some would say this game single-handedly saved fighting games after nearing death in early 2000s, but others would say that for all the good it brought, it also heralded the future of SF i.e. constantly nostalgia baiting with the World Warriors :marseysadcat: Does the gameplay make up for the SF2 baiting? Are Ultras worse than Hitler? Was Elena a warcriminal?!

This week I've been nolifing Vicky 3. It's pretty good, the building ownership change is a lil complicated, but I prefer it overall. Also picked up the new designated CHVD game, Soulash 2 - it's a competently made roguelike, the DF adventure mode to accompany the Rimworld fortress mode - not in the sense that the games align thematically or anything like that, Soulash's setting is much closer to the DF setting, and I'd say it's an easy 7-8/10, but then it has fricking MMO skills with cooldowns and scaling :anarchy: WHICH MAKES IT A 0/10 :anarchy:

Also: Norland, which is promising, but they really did a bad job at repainting medieval europe :marseygiveup: I like everything about the game, but the setting is very ehhh + no random maps, which would make the game a lot more interesting. Regardless, it's still a promising title, and I'd recommend it, just so long as you ignore the very dumb worldbuilding.

No surpise the commie enjoys the commie simulator :marseyclueless: Idk man, even giga victoria 3 players don't say it's a good game, just check the steam reviews. Wiz just don't make them like Johann did. Having a construction queue like hoi4 is ridiculous

It was very funny back when the leak happened, the #1 criticism was the planned economy micromanagement bs which people had already predicted because of what Wiz did to stellaris, all the redditors coped that it was because it was a beta, only for none of it to get fixed by release and the devs receiving major bugs in their own streams.

I think it's understandable that they go that way. It would be nice to have a game where there's a free market economy going on outside your control but that almost always ends up either being way out of balance all the time or it just doesn't leave the player anything to do except sit and watch.

They already have that in Victoria 2, and it's good fun managing national focuses and the tariffs to ensure effective economic growth. As well securing good RGOs through warfare and sphering, both mechanics MISSING or GUTTED in Victoria 3 :marseypixel: They only just added Spheres of Influences recently :marseyxd: Literally, if they had just continued in the original direction of Vic 3 under Johann which was a refined victoria 2 nobody would have complained, instead they burned it all to the ground and got people who didn't like Vic 2 to design it's sequel. Same shit happened to stellaris, no one liked it, except for a minority of commies.

I hope you can see how the build queue from hoi4 is very abstracted and nonsensical in a game about natural economic growth, yeah?

For what it's worth, it looks like EU5 will be going in the Victoria 2 direction, so we will see how that goes.
