The Witcher. A trvly classic game, which introduced the world to Geralt: the greatest kitty monster hunter the world has known. It's more or less what you'd expect from a polish fantasy game: you peepee down innumerable white slvts with your BBC, and also there's some shit about killing the various monsters (presumably standins for the more civilized races overrunning poland at this time) which have been eating people or whatever. The game is also known for its one of a kind combat style, where you press your m1 button at various times in order to kill the monsters. Unfortunately (for Geralt) s*x is somehow less engaging than this boring button mashing combat, though completing a s*x scene rewards you with a s*x card, a piece of commemorative art for horny polack teens to jerk off to. It's an acquired taste but I'd say it's the best one of the series because it had the best setting and atmosphere, and by this point I'm fine with admitting to myself that I'm not playing any of those games for the combat. 2 & 3 definitely had their own things they excelled at and I loved the story and branching paths that 2 had in particular, but 1 is special for me

Played 3. Didn't like the combat and couldn't get into the game. I gave it several earnest tries too. Dumped like twenty hours into my last go but still got bored and fell out of it :marseyshrug:

It's a universal constant among all of those games that combat sucks. It was especially bad in the first game but they seem to be iteratively improving on it with each sequel. Here's hope that in 10 releases they might actually find a way to make it fun

This is exactly the game's problem. If they had reduced the volume of the game's content by 20% and focused on polishing the gameplay 20% more, Witcher 3 would have been near perfect.

Vampire Survivors finally released on ps5 and it's an addiction again. They've added so much since I last played in 2022. Fortunately I should be finished with the last couple dlcs today or tomorrow.

I've never seen anything like that before. Just the omnipresent compulsion to disregard everything else in life and keep making noises play and numbers go up. I had a great time but I feel horrible about it and the dev is some sort of terrorist for managing to do that. It's not even like super deep or anything???? It's just a pure dopamine factory and it's weird as frick to recognize that even as you're doing it.

11/10 would not recommend

Just bought Deadeye Deepfake Simulacrum after playing the shit out of the demo. The game is very well designed and addicting, it's probably the best hacking game since Uplink .

My only complaint would be that the earlygame is super hard and feels janky until you find a class/playstyle that works well. Also you shouldn't bother with paying off your debt on the first playthrough.

I finally got into Crusader Kings 2, my first plunge into paradox titles (after getting intrigued by jinxthinker streams @Dramamine). I have to say it's very fun. In the end it boils down to a spreadsheet simulator but if you are able to RP a bit that's not a bad thing.

The world is very big, but you can just zoom in on a specific region and do your thing there. Like choosing a specific nobleman to bully and exterminate his line.

The game achieved to really boost my interest in history, especially to doublecheck which events really happened and where the devs took some artistic liberties. It really managed to drive home how horrible the plague was, with you just sitting on your throne and your heirs dropping like flies and your treasury shrinking due to collapsing tax base. I also didn't know about the colossal failure that is called the 4th crusade (chuds don't look that up if you don't know about that yet. grim stuff)

One thing I found funny is how you can convert culture and religion of a province in a relatively short timeframe. There is no indication about this in the game but I'm pretty sure you can only do this via genocide. This is definitely next on my list on things to learn about.

I lost ~2 years of my life grinding Paradox games in uni. After 5 years of not playing any i relapsed last week and started played Darkest hour again. For some reason ( :marseyautism:) these games are really fricking addicting for me. Hopefully the need goes away after I finish this campaign.
