This week, let's discuss Hollow Knight. At one point I'd thought it was a 2D dark souls, but in replaying it (some) this week, it seems like it's actually a more typical metroidvania! Who woulda thought? It's shockingly well put together, especially considering that it's an indie game, with gorgeous art and a decent soundtrack. Enemies are pretty varied. The losing your soul on death mechanic is pretty annoying, and doesn't really make a big difference in how the game works, but there are few other missteps. Discuss below, and vote in the pinned comment.

Today I wish to discuss Ghost of Tsushima and the arguments Reddit has made regarding its racism. Developed by Sucker Punch, Ghost of Tsushima is a 2020 title that follows the story of Jin Sakai who has to juggle tradition and innovation as he attempts to fend off the Mongol invasion. It currently sits with a Metacritic score of 87, making it a critical success. This hasn't been enough to shield it from accusations of racism. CPU

In High CPU Frequency Mode, more power is allocated to the CPU and will downclock the GPU by around 1.5%, resulting in roughly 1% lower GPU performance.

So really, the only major improvements are raytracing and better supersampling (since the PS5 struggles enough already with outputting a clear 4K image). Outside of diehard Sonyggers who is this really going to be for? Normalstrags and casuals don't even know what RT and DLSS are, let alone care enough about them to buy into this. This is going to be an incredibly niche product, even moreso than the PS4 Pro which at least had the justification of being able to support newfangled 4K TVs. Nevermind unlike the PS4 the PS5 has failed to get cheaper over time. It's even gone up in price for some regions! This feels like a disaster in the making.

The people that go feral over GTA don't care about framerate or raytracing. They'd be content playing it on a Series S probably.

There's a decent chance that Switch Next will also be revealed next month. Whatever that system ends up being like I don't think you could have a more perfect juxtaposition to undercut the living heck out of the 5 Pro.

People need to stop using "Walking Simulator" in a derogatory way.

If that's not your cup of tea, fair.

But do people understand that people are actively looking for games like this?

Plus it's not like they are really famous walking sim that are critically acclaimed, like firewatch or what remains of edith finch. And they're not lazy or simplistic, it takes LOTS of effort to make the perfect atmosphere, to write an engaging story and universe, make interesting characters and so on.

I'm about to release what could be considered a walking sim (even if there is quite more gameplay elements than in your traditional walking sim) and while most people are nice, some of them are still complaining about the fact that it is mostly running around and talking to people.

Why are they expecting anything else? It's not like I'm promising lots of features in the trailers. It's going to be a problem if some of them end up buying the game, get disappointed, get a refund and leave a bad review.

Sorry for the rant, I guess the real question is how can I market a walking sim (or a walking sim like) effectively, while minimizing haters, and managing the expectations of the average g*mer?

I unironically bullied dnd players many years ago at school . I just bought the game (used to want to bang a red cosplayer chick) and its not something like cyberpunk where you're a guy with a gun or witcher3 where you're a guy with a sword but a wierd hold hands and take turns autismo game . I FINALLY understand why reddit likes it so much

The only good turn based games are a board game like chess or monopoly despite some people being autismo about that too.
