Townscaper - I have no idea how many people have heard of this one, but I think it's one of my favorite games ever made. Taking the term "city builder" as literally as possible, it is a game where you construct cities out of building blocks, which are generally colorful houses, though bridges, steps, and foundations are also possible. I find it to be a wonderful creative tool, though the palette is somewhat limited. Vote below in the pinned comment.

Townscaper is barely a game :marseyshrug: It is mostly known among the Xbox achievement hunting community for being a Gamepass game that gives 1000G in less than thirty minutes.

I really oughta do an effortpost on the Xbox achievement community because those guys can be pretty insanely dedicated (to bad games :marseytroll:)

Neat concept, but I want my games to be more mechanically engaging. If I were to build something for the sole purpose to look at it, I rather just use Blender.

Recently found a game on steam that I would like to recommend to everyone, especially to my fellow !edgelords and !doomers

It's called psychopomp and it's free: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2771670/Psychopomp/

Since the game is free and should only take around 45 minutes for a 100% play-through where you can find everything I won't spoil any of the story or game play. Here's some screenshots I took while playing to hopefully get you more interested though:

try avoid using blueprints unless you get stuck on something annoying like adv oil since its pretty generic and simple, imo it "dulls" the save a bit and makes it less enjoyable to mess around on since you cant as easily find issues to improve

otherwise, there isnt quitting. you can only take breaks of varying length if you are affected. :)

New FO4 character -- Jet-head.

He either doesn't care or remember that his wife is dead and that his son has been kidnapped. He just wants Jet.

I've played as a druggie with full immunity to addiction. In this run I am embracing the addiction. No curing or preventing addiction whatsoever. As addictions mount, I suffered the stat penalties.

Admittedly my last playthrough I manipulated duplicating items so I could use infinite resources to levelmax.

Not this time.

I definitely am watermaxxing as an economy. I only travel with the dog, no tricks to overload a human companion.

All my sites produce crops to spamcook vegetable starch.

I let him hack novice but he will never learn more than that until it's the only option. As a druggie, he's already a Master lockpick.

He's fat as frick and looks like a neurodivergent in his mining helmet and military fatigues.

Yes his dead wife has two black eyes from domestic abuse, and yes he has a bruised lip from her defending herself.

What is this? I get the fighting fine, but everything else about it -- the story, the dead "open world," the conversations -- everything but the fighting seems like pure r-slurery. Just let me be some moon faced, 7 foot, 400lb. fat guy and punch the shit out of a 900 year old lizard grandpa thing. Why do I have to walk all over the place and go up to empty buildings and talk to all manner of rejects just to start another fight? Anime and it's consequences. :marseysigh:

Mechwarrior 5: Clans. It's the first game I've purchased day of release in years, and to my not great surprise, it's a little underdone still.

Even so, I'm really enjoying the story. Having your starmates as actual characters with personalities and in mission chatter is pretty cool and giving me some of the old Wing Commander 3 feels.

The game is a great skeleton for all the dlcs they will milk us with, kinda how mercs is much better than releasing. I do like the commitment to the clans being weird.

Jump in the discussion.

missing my Hunchback-4p

I hear you. I pretty much stripped down my starting Mist Lynx and turned it into a Commando 2-D with dual machine guns and jump jets. I need to play around in the mechlab and see if I can get an energy hardpoint on an omnipod. The range and and ammo dependency kicked my butt when that giant VTOL showed up.

I mentioned in HailVictory's ChudDrama post that my son is a little disappointed they don't have any instant action from the get go, so I'm trying to push through over the weekend to get him a few more chassis to play around with in the simulator.

Jump in the discussion.

Mercs is just the better build-a-mech game but the story in Clans is more engaging.

Now only if they could combine the 2.

Also my dad was the person to show me Battletech. I still have the old 80's board games and 2 expansion.

Just got Sins of Solar Empire 2. I think it's been literally a decade since I played the first game, but I felt right at home. It runs pretty well on a 780m iGPU which was surprising.

Basically the same game as before but with some quality of life improvements. Although I am disappointed about the diplomacy aspect has been downgraded. Hopefully they did this cause they're reworking the diplomacy mechanics.

There was a bit of drama about the game having a premium edition that includes a campaign mode which is currently not out yet. I don't think it's a big deal cause the original SoSE never had a campaign to begin with. Although looking back on it the game could've definitely used one.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

It's funny how they never even tried to make a hint of a campaign for the first given how story heavy the cinematics were. For "random 3/2 civs fighting" in space, they really liked to add lore

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

RTS games historically have had campaigns for each faction, SoSE was an exception when it came out with no campaign mode. I think the overall concept is pretty cool, and you can tell the ships and mechanics adhere to some kind of lore that only the devs know about.

Playing through Inscryption now. I am at the part of the game where the robot takes over and it returns to 3D. Already have beaten 3 bosses and currently on my way to defeat the fourth. Liked the first stage of the game, the paper, woodcarvings and the schizo dm created a nice atmosphere and the deck building was fun. The second part simulating an 8-bit game was alright, although a massive downgrade from the beginning, which is probably why the promotional materials and cover art feature only the first section of the game. Put your strongest foot first and all that. The robot section is fine, the return to 3D and having a game master again is appreciated, but the deck building isn't as fun (probably on purpose). Cool game so far, although the background story of a content creator discovering the game and being followed by the dev company does take you out a bit and delivering it with 3 minute clips is a tad too "analog horror-y" for my taste.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

I remember when it came out and they didn't hint at the game being more than act 1. The mind frick of learning there is 3 more parts really got me and was one of the best surprises. I think part of hiding the other acts is for that fact. When i suggest it to ppl my biggest thing is the less you know the better.

Jump in the discussion.

Neat. I've been playing some Skyrim as well, simply because it's the first Elder Scrolls game I bought way back when. I haven't ever bothered to try for a complete playthrough before, but I really don't hate it --- at least not the way I hated playing through Fallout 4.

I've been obsessed with Soviet Republic: Workers and Resources, because the game respects its own rules.

It's basically a city builder with industry and goods, and in realistic mode, there's no shortcuts. You don't get to quickbuild roads or quickbuy-teleport resources into your warehouse; if you want to build an asphalt road, you need various trucks and busses to transport gravel, asphalt, workers to the site, you need excavators, pavers, rollers, and all these machines need to be fueled and maintained, and all of these resources need to be physically imported or produced and stored somewhere. You want to redesign your district heating? Better start the works in spring, because every section of pipe, every substation, every heating plant needs resources, construction machines and workers delivered and your citizens won't survive the interruption in service if you do it when it's -15 degrees outside.

It's slav jank all the way and you'll run into stupid bottlenecks and die but I love it because it respects itself and brings its concept to logical conclusion.

One of my favorite games ever.

It's so good even with all the jank and distribution r-sluration (mixed loads? Multiple destinations? Nah I'll make five trips carrying 0.15 tons of electrical components and nothing else). Devs are apparently working on a new game in the genre, that might turn out pure genius.

I spend my weekend away frome home and out of boredom looked for mobile games, even if I were just to play them for 5 minutes to see how bad the monetization is.

I download Vampire Survivors since I heard good things about it (but the PC version), and it was really fun despite crashing in pause menu a few times.

Iron Marines

I have played this one, and Kingdom Rush, since both have the same creator. I remembered Kingdom Rush from when it was a flash browser game.

I'll check the other ones next time I'm confined to a closed space with nothing to do.

Armored core 6, People overrated Balteus, got him on the first try. The cleaner boss right after was the worst

Amazing game though

Just got VR for the first time so I've been trying out a couple different games. Downloaded modlists for Fallout and Skyrim, and played a bit of Into the Radius but that shit scary AF. Outside of VR I've been playing Inscryption because it's on game pass, but everything past chapter 1 is kinda butt.

Also, Thrill of the Fight in VR. Hasn't been a good fighting game in years, but boxing in VR is fun as frick.

some suggestions for new VR owners. Superhot, Beatsaber, Pistol Whip, Synth Rider, HL Alyx, Elite Dangerous, Boneworks, any pc racing sim

may be not ready for massive market but its still pretty well done for some games

Winter is beginning to threaten its presence so I played an obscene amount of video games and will likely continue to until there's enough snow to facilitate winter activities.

I played a bunch of phasmophobia and devour with my friends. I'm a chicken shit so both were really scary, but phasmo is definitely the better of the 2 games.

I played a bunch of shmups, most notably touhou 18 and Steel Vampire. its been a long time since ive really gone in on a shmup so im really bad at them currently but the prospect of getting good at them again is really appealing so ill keep grinding it out.

Played a bit of the Calamity mod for Terraria which is really good, but theres just too much shit to collect so your constantly fricking with your inventory. Ill probably look for a mod to help with that.

Finally, i played a bunch of SaGa: Scarlet Grace, which is a really scuffed and janky game but the battle system carries it a long ways. ill probably try to finish Leonard's story by thursday, when Revenge of the Seven comes out and monopolozes my next month or so.

Slop. Base story is atrocious with tons of filler.

A very long single player main story quest with some mmo dungeons and raids peppered in. You have to play all the expansion stories even tho they don't matter which may burn you out. Or you can buy the boost and have no idea what you're doing. Overall prob the best mmo at the moment but it takes some time to get there naturally

Finished Space Marine 1. The final battle was a bit of a wet fart, just a few waves of tough enemies and a QTE segment, but everything up to that point was good. I look forward to getting the sequel in 5 years when it dips under $15.

Started Mega Man 11. It's Mega Man. What more can you say about it? :marseymega:

I was feeling nostalgic for Alpha Centauri, so I installed civ: beyond earth and gave it another try. Truely a shit game.

I need to find a clone of Alpha Centauri with a better UI.
