Diversity is our strength!
Literally, there's so much different stuff in that game to do, in different environments. You start with turf wars and petty crime in your home city, then you drive races in the countryside and drive over people with grain combine, help a hippy scum smuggle weed into city while shooting feds with his rocket launcher, help a nerd humiliate rival nerd by piloting toy planes dropping bombs, pass a drive school exams ( ), help chinese mafia rob a casino, get a flying license ( ) after stealing a private airfield, break into zone 51 and steal a jetpack.

Oh! I've actually been playing this one recently!
Considering how much GTA 3 doesn't hold up, this one's still really good. It's an enormous game - I've clocked like 20 hours and have only just got to the second city.
The combat can be pretty awkward, but the driving is good and there's an enormous variety of vehicles. And there's so much stuff to do! The story and characters are really fun too, not to mention the A+ soundtrack.
Also! Modern right stick camera control! At last!!!

Kino game Like with all the PS2 games there are some janky missions and some time wasting minigames. But this is still the greatest GTA in regards to premise. Being able to explore different cities and environments is still great and still elevates the game over modern GTAs in that way even if the newer releases have bigger and more technically impressive maps.

I never really had a problem with Wrong Side of the Tracks, even when I can't make the early jump on the train.
Supply Lines is trivial unless you have the Hot Coffee PS2 version, on later editions you don't lose fuel if you don't accelerate.
City Slicking (Gold) usually takes me a few attempts each time, the SuperGT is an awful car but it's consistently awful so it's manageable.
Can't remember the other hated missions

Plane school missions pissed me off.
Also Zero missions.
And that in the final mission you can't deposit the riot trucks into a garage for later.
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
That mission had a flag on the SWAT truck where it just deletes it outright once you meet a specific mission state, but you can save it before youbust down the crack palace wall by blowing it up in your garage, which will fail the mission but remove the flag. Have to use explosives (not fire) or ram it into the wall.
I never saved my game after using cheats, but I think it's just the pedestrian behavior cheats which causes issues? So stupid that you couldn't reset that lol, once you cause drama you can't go back

SA seems to have a lot of stuff added to pad out the content.
Island 2 for example is mostly boring repetitive races, and island 3 is mostly desert with no points of interest... The turf war was mostly engaging with the boring gunplay 100 times.
GTA3 impressed me that it had these open ended missions however you wanted. In SA, missions are linear and scripted. Take a car, shoot your way past these dudes, escape the cops, repeat.

I've been replaying Fallout 1 and 2 and they are still excellent. It will always be inconceivable to me how far ahead of its time the original Fallout was. It's so bad, in fact, that any pre-Fallout RPG is borderline unplayable for me - even if many decisions only have the illusion of a consequence. The mere fact that there is a timed main quest that permanently changes the outside world is almost unimaginable in today's mainstream present. Imagine if BG3 had tied the transformation to the time in the game. All the redditors who spend 50 hours in the first act wouldn't stop crying.
Fallout 2 has way too much filler and bloat. Also the plethora of references is really annoying. The atmosphere is simply not the same. I have no idea why people rate this one higher.

Because there's more stuff to do, and back in the day that was a really important part of the game's value. Today, when there are many more high quality games compared to then, this is less appealing, as you end up grinding through a lot of inferior content, to get to the good stuff. So tighter and more focused products are more valued today.

You need to light a fire under the player's butt. These goddarn zoomers want to drift along at their own and always do the right thing, which the game makes obvious to you. With a time limit you gotta start being a little more ruthless, sacrificing others to get what you want. Those decisions become actually real decisions where it's not clear which is the right answer. A big part of life is making this kind of decision, is it worth hurting X in order to help Y or me. It actually engages you emotionally.
As the other guy said, nobody was complaining about "bloat" back then. Also I gotta disagree with you because if you really dig down, you find that all these cities are linked to each other in some way. There's a whole story going on underneath what seems to be bloat.
Chris Avellone is a gigachad who sued his #MeToo accuser and won, the guy behind KOTOR 2 and lots of stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. He also went to fricking RPG Codex of all places and spilled his guts about everyone at Obsidian and Black Isle in what is known as the "May of Rage". You would have to have been there. Somebody's gotta write that story someday. You could make a fricking book out of all the drama.
Anyway, Fallout 2 was his first job doing anything important on a game. He wrote a lot of New Reno. He's said that in hindsight he really regrets putting a bunch of pop cultures and stuff like that into it. So yeah, you're not alone. Even the guy who wrote it agrees with you.

I don't really think the fallout time limits were really that important since you can pretty much get done before it even hits if you actually do things at the places you come across.

He said so much, I might do it but it would be a major effort. It would become my rDrama full time job like the Darklands LP.
Just a demo of what's to come: Extensive trashing of Feargus Urquhart for making promises that he couldn't keep. For example KOTOR 2. It wasn't half-finished because evil managers at LucasArts shut it down or because the devs fricked up. It's because Feargus promised they could do it in an insanely short amount of time. So LucasArts did all their publisher stuff, which was a lot back then (advertising, burning the CDs, putting them into boxes, haggling with store owners to get shelf space) with the assumption that it's gonna be delivered at this date. So they just ran out of time.

Currently playing XCOM 2. Didn't play the first one but it's pretty decent, even if I'm terrible at it.
Oddly enough without a couple of mods/settings tweaks the pace of the game feels horribly slow. I've no idea why the devs felt the need to put so many pauses and slow motion animations in.

No you're not. I been playing X-COM since the real thing so I must be an authority.
The problem with NuX-COM and especially NuX-COM 2, is that it really comes down to one fundamentally r-slurred gameplay mechanic: Pod popping. The battle is all about what situation your guys were in when you hit a certain tile and the pod goes agro on you. You have no way to predict when this will happen. It's completely luck. It's not a game any more than a slot machine is a game. It's like going out on a patrol in real life where you might run into a
booby trapIED at any moment with no warning. In NuXCOM-2 I'm not having fun, I'm feeling constant anxiety like that. I didn't buy it to play Worst Parts of Being an Infantryman IRL.Also another very basic fundamental flaw: You have 4 on your squad. (Or am I confusing this with Battletech?) Anyway you have very few people in your squad. So if one gets killed, you've lost 25% of your force. That means you've lost the battle. You go back to base and it turns out that losing this one battle puts you behind the curve in the strategic game. So if you step on the wrong tile one of your guys can get killed which means the entire game is lost and you've gotta savescum. I dunno about you tards, but I don't find that fun.
In real X-COM it was legit fricking scary. The enemies didn't "go agro". They hid in the shadows, in buildings. You're watching the alien turn. You hear the pitter patter of little sectoid feet. Suddenly a plasma bolt comes out of the darkness and kills your pointman. I virtually never feel fear, but when that happens to me, yeah for a split second.

In X-Com 1 you could advance in a way that kept your squad in support of each other. In X-Com 2 the time limit made that impossible so I didn't see any alternative other than to save-scout.

Yeah, I'm not opposed to the time limit in principle but they make it so fast that you just have to have your guys running around in the open all time. Totally different from the original where you and the aliens are quietly stalking each other.

goes up to 6 pretty quickly.
in 2 they introduced stealth so you can scout the pods and setup before striking. not just first turn stealth either, couple classes could re-enter stealth. iirc there also various scanners you could bring too, lot less random pod popping.
also why r u running into the fog of war? never run into the fog of war, lol

I kind of like how atmospheric those game are, even if it's a bit excessive with the slow mo sometimes.
It's a shame they never made any other.
No, Chimera Squad does not exist. Never play Chimera Squad.

You want atmosphere, play the original. Most atmospheric thing I've ever played. In the alien turn you can hear their footsteps. You hear doors opening and closing somewhere out in that darkness. Your enemy hides in the shadows and you rarely get a glimpse of it. Also good sound effects and music.

I'm playing for the first time in a few years
>detailed rank stats from the first game, don't even have to wait through placement to see your rank
>hidden demotion, you just stay on your rank with some -15% score or something lol
They sure know their rank obsessed addict audience.
Since everyone wants to play dps they've just made every class like dps now too. There are no real pure supports other than maybe mercy who's nerfed to uselessness anyway. You must go either dps who can heal a bit, dps, or dps with lots of health.
But still everyone just wants to play dps and you have to either play tank or wait 10 minutes for a game.
But the game is otherwise okay. Fun to play for half an hour and watch the nerdrage in chat.

Idk what you're on about. Pure DPS is valid if you run dual tank. Early game you gotta rely on the healer but late game you can focus more on damage, when anti-barrier/anti-healing builds up. Most supports have a decent mix of healing, CC and damage. 2 healers or 2 flankers never work.
You shouldn't solo these games. Even 2 player parties work cause you can have your pal play flanker or off tank and come in for heals now and then. Even if your r-slur teammates pick 2 dps you can have him on point and punish the other healer.

Still Factorio. I'm about 25 hours in to this factory. Pretty soon I'll be launching rockets. That's when I'll finally get to see the DLC content.
Somebody remind me to get back to Darklands once in a while.

Similar, -10h. Spent a lot of time building up new nice walls anchored by lakes, only for the to suffer 0 (zero) attacks since the new walls are too far away from factory .
Starting to build rail system now. Thinking of making all lines elevated and only bringing trains down at stations and intersections.

I tried really hard to do it right this time. I made sure each part of the factory was really far apart and planned out, and each part kind of spirals out from the middle depending on what resources it uses. But somehow I forgot to build it around one central line that brings iron, copper, and steel to everything. And I forgot to leave space for roads.
Oddly enough I'm pretty far in but I'm just now (I mean literally now) starting my rail network. I guess I was lucky enough to get resources close enough that I could just use belts.
Hopefully I'll get to another planet and remember to do things right there.

Well, I have nothing to say that you probably don't already know. Its essentially exactly as bad as the viral Skillup review said it was. Its definitely not the worst game I've ever played, but its a total stab in the back for longtime dragon age fans. They killed the setting entirely.

They fricked this up like the ending of Mass Effect?
I shouldn't laugh. I did mention the end of Mass Effect and how mad I am about it to my therapist years after ME3.

The ending itself in a lore sense is not that bad. A someone more satisfying ending than ME3
When I say the setting is destroyed, I don't mean the ending sucks, it's that the world presented isn't the dragon age world built from origins.
So many aspects about the world were retconned out. The racism between the games races is no longer present, there is zero politics or interactions with the governments of the various kingdoms, and ofc as everyone has seen, the dialogue and tone is now marvel-like instead of being dark fantasy.

Ive been replaying lies of p. @Brum played it when it came out and thought it was ok but got all the way too the nameless puppt and just dropped it because you couldnt summon a spectre. At the time @Brum just didnt have the patience for how unforgiving the parry system was so @Brum used spectres for just about every boss. @Brum is jiving with it a lot more this time around. @Brum is also using the weapon assembly system more now that ive realised the blade affects the speed of you're attacks.

Aside from GTA San Andreas, which I mentioned elsewhere, I've been finishing up Skyrim. I'm doing the Dragonborn DLC, which I've never played before. I've been playing this save off-and-on for years now and I'm pretty sad that it's nearly over. I don't know what I'll fill the hole with afterwards! :(
Other than that, I downloaded some coop conversions of AoE2 campaigns and have been playing them with my friend. Man, I love the Genghis Khan campaign.
My cat continues to steal the chair every time I set my racing sim stuff up, but I at least managed to get one really satisfying race in this weekend, with 90s super touring cars.

But I'm confused with version anyone here have played the version I have questions about graphic settings
Is it normal if the game lags on 17 FPS if I get every setting on ultra ona laptop with 3070 ti GPU, resolution 1920 1080?
Is it true that if I have a 3070 ti notebook GPU i am basically running a 2070 ti normal gpu?
