Anno 1800 its such a wfh game, have it running all the time during work and play when I have downtime thats like 40% of the time

I've been playing Tropico 4 (2011) again, it's a city builder where you run a shit-hole Caribbean state during the Cold War. You manage a small island country while funneling money to your Swiss bank account, rigging elections, and sending your secret police after critics and opponents. It lets you go full commie or cozy up to the Americans with an irreverent approach to politics.

My only complaint is it's way too easy and there aren't any mods to make it more engaging.

I just beat Another Crab's Treasure, 10/10 genuinely the best souls like I've ever played. Last "souls-like" I played before this was Remnant 2 and it was a fine game but idk why people call it a souls-like tbh it didn't really scratch that itch

Supreme Commander is a great game, but it is most notable as a spiritual successor to Total Annihilation, the best RTS ever made. For unknown reasons it is completely unheard of in the modern RTS community, but the tiny chunk of RTS games that descend from it are superior to the entire rest of the genre. The original Total Annihilation still holds up, but there are also quite a few open source free clones of the game built by God's strongest neurodivergents. In the paid game family tree, there's Supcom and Planetary Annihilation. Supcom's contribution to the genre was Experimental units, there was an experimental unit in TA but only one faction had it and it was ridiculously unplayable expensive and kinda dogshit blah blah blah, not much like the ones that would later typify future games in the subgenre. Almost all of the TA FOSS forks have experimentals these days. Planetary Annihilation is a much newer spinoff of the series, a spiritual successor to a spiritual successor. It only has one faction instead of the two from TA or the three from SupCom, but is set in SPACE, with maps containing multiple planets that can be fought over, flown between, and blown up. Very fun game.

Set up Final Burn Neo in Retrobat last night so was literally playing old arcade games drunk until 6am like a degenerate. Really that last hour or so was beating Metal Slug 2 so I could get the retroachievements saying I did.

Dominions 6. I'm so cracked out on it. More people should look past the graphics. If you can play chess, you can play this. Both will not get you women.

Rot3K 8 Remake.

It's honestly not good, very repetitive, its depth is a joke, the enemy AI is awful, the AI used to make portraits move is laughable, very overpriced, missing core functions of the original game, and has that thingy all strategy games have where you have already won but then need 50 more moves to confirm it, but all of that doesn't matter. It's the exact kind of slop I needed to escape reality and become addicted for a weekend and then never play again. The tales function allows you to pick and choose which historical events will happen in your playthrough, i.e. Dong Zhuo losing against the coalition or Lü Bu not getting his waifu and thus not chimping out. While this is a neat idea in theory, it is very gamy and unless you like a harder version of the same game, you will most likely shoot yourself in the foot when selecting an option that moves your base or something. The debates and the duels are ridiculous, as is the entire sworn sibling/linked mechanic. I do adore the portraits, and many 3K characters are like old friends to me, very cool. I've naturally played Xun Yu and helped my liege Cao Cao return order into the land - until it was my time to be replaced: 'A splendid talent, admired of all men His folly lay in serving Cao Cao's power.' A part of me thinks that he knew - even back then - that he was helping the wrong guy.

Most of rdrama doesn't have friends, so they can ignore this comment.

But Mario Party has been a bit of a tradition for my friends when we get back from our respective colleges for break, and I've been playing the new one online w9th some of them.

Its actually really good, and doesn't feel like Nintendo made it with the amount of feedback and content they put into it, especially considering how bad Mario spin offs have been after the gamecube-wii era.

Best Mario Party in a while, as good as 3, 6, and 8 in my opinion.

At first it was great game. Then i found out it was only chapter 1. I kinda breezed through chapter 2 and 3. By end it was most booring game i have ever played.

It would have been tolerable if MC wasnt so booring. They should habe flipped the polarity. He shouldn't have been best and most honorable samurai ever lived. Rather black sheep. Total scoundrel and ladies man. Maybe he dosent care about little people. Just total prick.

He has to be one to step up.

DOW2, Vampire Savior and SC2

Playing this and that, but most importantly got back to Against the Storm, which is a great game.

I really like this game. I find it properly challenging (on proper difficulties), but fair despite its RNG nature. There are always things you can do to try push for the win.

Also, a huge plus for a lot of it being intuitive, I hate looking up guides and strategies for games.

Buncha stuff with a few hours in it recently

Went to play Battletech again but found I didn't feel refreshed on it after my playthrough a few years ago

Then I started an Ironman Xenonauts but was careless and wiped in the 2nd month

Played the new game Tactical Breach WIzards which was in between XCOM Chimera Squad (every mission breaching and clearing a series of one-room encounters) and Into the Breach (enemies generally lock in and telegraph their attacks, lot of focus on attacks that push enemies around the map). Pretty fun but definitely very easy for an XCOM style thing. Writing is soy-flavored, but more suffering from the Marvel movie and therapy speak styles than explicit politics. Short, but would probably outstay its welcome otherwise.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time because someone mentioned it in a comment here. Good as I remember, feels easier, maybe I was still a kid playing it the first time.

and today some Project Zomboid, after several tries I got a guy who was able to run away from town and hide in a house on the outskirts. I am sure I will die soon like always.

Almost done my WotR run with just Threshold left to go and still haven't found a portrait I like for next playthrough Maybe it's a sign

Also, I saved Dance of Masks for second to last and I wish I hadn't. No time to play with all the fun gear this way. Next time I guess

Dawn of war baby to round off my current warhammer binge caused by space marine 2/darktide

Finished ff6, got teary eyed at the end thinking terra was gonna die. Really enjoyed it as my first proper ff game.
