THE MONKEY CHUD GAME WUKONG

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The story is based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past.

Yeah, a fairly mediocre game is elevated to higher tiers by owning the libs. Ridic!

I did want to buy it to own the libs but I recognized that as being r-slurred and pathetic so I didn't waste 60 bucks to make some chinks richer

I've finished the Crisis Core Reunion game yesterday and it's fairly decent for a handheld game released in the 00s. People don't really understand this as the Switch has molded the line between a handheld console and an actual console in such a way that people are retroactively rating games released for a handheld the same way as they had been released on a console, but handheld games have been notorious for their low quality. This holds true for the Gameboy, the DS, but more notoriously for the PSP - and Crisis Core is the ultimate example here. The combat is awful, the obligatory nonsensical cutscenes after running for ten seconds, the loading screens that happen every 20 meters and the randomness of everything. All of this doesn't matter though because it's a handheld game and that's to be expected. On PC however? Death sentence. Ehhh Losercel, is this a fact or are you just ragebaiting? Handhelds were the first step towards the cancer that is mobile gaming. Disagree and you'll get banned.

Anyways, Genesis as a character is unbelievably r-slurred and that's somewhat endearing because it mimics the logic of the original Final Fantasy 7 well, namely that nothing even pretends to make sense. There are some attempts at explaining things but the narrative mostly follows the rule of cool. That's completely fine. The remakes however, switch things up and instead of just going with the flow of Midgar's impossible architecture, which would fit very well for a psychological horror game, and the wackiness of the plot, there's just so much time spent on explaining what actually happens and what it stands for despite nobody having a clue, not even the writers. I'm playing Yuffie's part of Intermission currently and it's fun. I cannot wait to play rebirth and laugh my butt off at its content.

I've also played a couple of hours of the new Dynasty Warriors game and it's awesome. :marseyfighter:

ROTK X is great for just wandering around China doing random stuff.

Totally scratches my youxia itches.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Is that one where you can be just some random guy wandering around, not a ruler? I thought that would be cool. I did it once and I got nothing out of it. Wow. It's like normal RTK except I just have fewer choices I can make. Well I didn't have a heck of a lot of choices when I was the Prince of Jiangxi during peacetime either. Limiting my options even more...?

Sorry, but if I'm going to roleplay as an individual person I'd rather play a game like Darklands.

How does that work? You just overthrow the ruler of a city and then it's like the other RTK games?

How does that work? You just overthrow the ruler of a city and then it's like the other RTK games?

Kind of, but you can also take over a city that has no rulers. Characters who have a high relation with you are more likely to join you.

I became sworn brother with a huge good characters, so I got a huge power spike after that.

Too bad the game got boring after you get too big, but the early days of wandering and ruling part is really good.

Does it at least have your provincial governors rebel? I think that's theoretically a good mechanic but it will probably too easy (bores the player) or too hard (makes the player go apeshit because they were just about to win).

Gameplay wise it's so much better they added parties and dodges but it's nowhere near to being like dark souls level.

You only have 9 weapons but each of them has their own unique quirks: sword has the old charge attack style from the old games, guandao uses dw6s renbu system but adjusted, chakrams use a timing thing to make your charge attacks stronger and etc.

You also get 4 extra special moves you can use, some of them you unlock are crazy broken.

Then you get your own squad of units that you can use tactics with.

The battlefield feels like an actual battle, like how you felt when you played your first dw game as a kid with thousands of peons to slay. Search up the Hu Lao Gate battle if you wanna see what I mean. It's amazing after the clown show of dw9.

It's also less railroaded, you can do whatever you want in them but your allies might die.

Morale actually matters now, if it's high enough your allies actually kill stuff.

The story is pretty good, they made all the characters less one dimensional like Zhang Jiao isn't some crazy old guy anymore.

Lu Bu is an absolute badass to fight again.

Decent replayability with the 3 stories and hypothetical routes. Probably about 100 hours to go 100%?

The duel mechanic from dw4 is back now.

Soundtrack is a banger still with a bunch of remixed tracks from the old games.

A lot of other good shit but I'll go through the cons too:

1. You play as a random dude with amnesia of course. And all the characters you meet wanna frick you.

2. Only 9 playable characters that you can only use for a minute.

3. No coop.

4. Story only goes to Chibi but they get to include battles that weren't focused on in the old dw games.

5. The English voice acting is meh.

6. You only get 9 playable characters and they all use the same weapons that you'll get to unlock.

Overall really fun game with minor cons. I'd put it above 3, 4, 5. Easy 8/10 for me

Getting back into the Tropico series. Fun games but my god this sense of humor is terrible and they vastly overestimate how invested I am in the character of Penultimo.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

The first one is good if you set the difficulty to max. You're trying to bring these people out of poverty while constantly being on edge because they might revolt. You can't just frick around and build gardens or something. They have expectations of you and you darn well better fulfill them.

The ones the Bulgarians made (I think I played 3 & 4) are fun and look good, but they cut the soul out of it. The original Tropico was laid back and relaxed but in the back of your mind was the really serious issue in the 1950s-1990s of extreme poverty in the third world. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but that's the world I came from, that's the people I know.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Interesting that you say that because, yeah, the humor is both not funny and also kind of in poor taste? A game like Papers Please or whatever mining dark humor from living under totalitarianism is one thing but a game in which you play as the literal dictator :marseycomrade: and are like arresting and murdering dissidents having this wacky cartoon tone feels weird. I don't normally care about this shit in the least and nobody in my family ever lived in Cuba or wherever but the mismatch here is off-putting.

There was one joke that I know came from their personal experience. The Russian asks you to send resources and tells you that "You might even be the first country to achieve socialism!" Which is really funny but it's about Bulgaria. We're not playing Bulgario. You could make a game about building a city in Bulgaria in 1950 and I'd play it. That's not what Tropico is supposed to be.

I don't know wtf is wrong with you people. 80 million of you and you've only made one good game. :marseydisagree:

I'm exaggerating but I could probably count it on one hand how many good games you tards have made..

This isn't a "hahaha your country is bad" joke, I legit don't understand why I can play games from around the world but German ones are that one step that's too neurodivergent for me.

Also you tards need to start making good movies again. Lola Rennt is one of my favorites of all time. But nothing has followed that up that is really "omg that blows me away it's so good".

@SlidingDonGER This is the reason for all my pent-up rage against you.

I've played some Electrician Simulator and should probably do more so I can safely fix stuff around the house. But I have no idea how people enjoy this.

MSFS 2024. It's a buggy mess, and it takes a shitload of tweaks to get it running smoothly in VR, but it's amazing when it works.

I only played combat flight sims. IL2 has pretty good VR, DCS World has it as well but can't currently recommend that one.

Falcon BMS wizards modded VR into a game from the 90s.

You need to buy Falcon 4 for it to run but its like 7$, probably still the best flight sim in my book :#marseyautism:

Caves of Qud, Noita :marseywizard:, and this dungeon crawler called Cyclopean that just got released in EA. Pretty bare bones and minimalistic but the developer seems pretty passionate about expanding it further.

I'd play Caves of Qud if the graphics were better. Seems like an interesting game

@Its_Bixxy_B-word couldn't get into it when it was ASCII, but the sprites look really good IMO

Trying to play Sea of Thieves again.

Since no other dramanauts seem to have been sucked in by it, I don't think this site appreciates just how neurodivergent the community is. The longtime players are like the life forms in a cave ecosystem. They survive and thrive in harsh conditions, though few others would ever envy their way of life.

Still playing Dread Delusion and trying to tinker with settings on my Steam :marseyfreeman: Deck to see if I can get it to run better. I can play it on my desktop but it would :marseymight: be so much cooler if I can fully play and enjoy it in a handheld :marseytamagotchi: configuration.

Also still playing Stellaris. I'm taking a break from all other Paradox titles right :marseytransmisiaaward: now as I just want to focus on one at a time so I can really :marseythinkorino2: enjoy a campaign

Messing with PS1 and Gamecube emulation. Can't get Dolphin to sync with retroachievements even though I'm logged into retroachievements in Dolphin and the cheevos are popping up on the screen. But otherwise both are a breeze and with some upscaling and AA and post-processing, most games look incredible. I was playing Burnout 1 for like 2 hours last night, which isn't even a great Burnout but it's like eating a bowl of tomato soup on a cold day. :marseycomfy:

Both women, it's only the main dev going to jail. She had a long track record, grew up in foster care, been doing low-level criminal stuff her whole life (though no s*x crimes or domestic abuse, despite claims made by rightoid grifters). Apparently her gf and her normie family convinced her the police would be lenient if she turned herself in. They've broken up (understandably given that grade-A legal advice) but in any case the gf only did QA and some level design, the jailbird did all the coding and art. So development would be on hold regardless.

I've been playing Civ VI a lot since it's so cold out and I can play on the treadmill.

It's complete horseshit that buying the base game gets you like 10 leaders to choose from and there's literally hundreds of dollars of DLC available while in Civ V we got all the expansions for free.

As for the gameplay it's just the same as V but with the district system added which is pretty neat tbh. This version focuses on the map and terrain a lot more to influence your playstyle.

Also lol @ Scythia being included in the vanilla game. I doubt that most people wouldn't have a clue for when or where to find them on a map unless you're a smug Rome Total war neurodivergent like myself :marseyneko:

Did you know it's really easy to just play Civ I? Your choice of leader doesn't matter and there's no DLC but it's actually a good game.

(This isn't nostalgia. I mean this unironically. If you want a Civilization game that doesn't suck or even if you're just interested in the evolution of games over the years, give it a try.)
